They only take appointments but you can make them in advance or on the kiosks in the lobby for a later time that day. At first it's a chaotic scene and there's no one there to tell you how to check in. But it becomes apparent pretty quicly. Unfortunately there's really no explanation how to use the kiosks and a large number of confused people trying to use one of the two machines. I'm fortunate because I worked in tech for 30 years and am comfortable with computers. But the elderly and non native English speakers in front of me could have used a friendly face to help them out. Appointment is a bit of a misnomer, it's more like a window. My appointment was at 10 and once I got my number it was another good 20 minutes before I was called. But the TV system is clear and lets you know where you are in the order. The clerk who helped my was sufficiently friendly and quickly walked me through the process and I was out of there about 45 minutes after checking in. DMVs are one one of those strange places, like jury duty where you see all types of people. I heard at least two people yelling at the clerks for no apparent reason. Come on, try to be nice, they're doing the best they can in a chaotic environment.

Despite…read morebrinign in my car title, the Lomas office claims that they cannot "verify" the title and they keep getting a "hard stop" from the state where it was issued. I called said state DMV office and they informed me that my title is showing up in the national data base. I have gone into MVD now, called and emailed multiple times to try to complete my registration and they refuse to call or email me back. I have reached out to my local legislator to make a complaint as this agency is keeping me from registering my car. I say skip the convenience and go to the state office or maybe try their competitor MVD express. If I could give this place no stars I would.

Due to a DUI in So Cal almost 9 years ago there were many "glitches" with communication to and from Santa Fe. The DUI process is very difficult here. It was good to have an independent company on my side with all. As we didn't have an option of a private company at CA DMV it's refreshing to be able to go to a nice clean office with very short waits. If you value your time, do not bother going here as they will give you the run around! We…read morepurchased a vehicle out of state and were told they needed both the title and a bill of sale. Returned the second time with all requested paperwork but they could not do the registration as we needed a NM bill of sale. They charged us nearly $50 for a VIN inspection, and advised us to go to the state DMV. We were told that if the service we paid for was not accepted by the state, they would refund the fee. At the state DMV, the MVD express VIN inspection was not accepted as it was not completely filled out. All other paperwork, which MVD express had told us was not adequate, was accepted and the vehicle was registered. I returned to MVD express ( my 4th time there) to obtain a refund and was told that I should have brought the VIN inspection back so they could complete the missing information. I told them it was a non issue, was told refund would be made by check, but as the receipt was made out to my husband (who was not present this time), even though I had paid with my credit card, they could not process the refund! I called their service number and put in a complaint-was told I would get a call back- but have not heard anything since. Pure incompetence! Will never use this business again and am telling everyone I know to stay far away from MVD express!

Low and behold here we are tire screeching into the parking lot at the very last minute just to get it done (not really just wanted to add to sense of urgency). Being very urgent on the timing I knew my options. Wait for hours at the state mvd, hit up mvd express with the possibility of still a wait, or hit up MVD and get it done with minimal wait. Honestly if I wasn't crunched for time these days I would've probably hit up the express but seeing as the lack of time available I figured I'd pay the extra 10 bucks. Money well spent! Soon as I walked in the door I was greeted and immediately taken care of. The process took about 10 min and I was out the door. They have a stiff $30 fee they tack on but in these circumstances it was well worth the convenience of prompt service. Thanks again MVD Now!

There were relatively few people there but there were only two staff and the supervisor had locked herself out of her computer because she'd forgotten her password. I worked in tech for 25 years and it happens occasionally, but you call someone to reset your password. You don't sit around helplessly when you have 10 people waiting. Beyond that she seemed very chaotic and disorganized. It took her 10 minutes just to take our names and another 10 to start helping us. But THEN after her confusing and chaotic help we had to wait another 10 minutes for the one active employee to process our info. SHE was very efficient. Another woman had been at the counter when we came in and was waiting for her daughter to come in to finish the transaction. Apparently the chaotic supervisor had missed this conversation and rudely interrogated the woman about why she was there. It was such a bad experience that I opted for a main MVD branch when I had to do update my driver's license. I understand that bureuacratic work like this is difficult but it's more difficult when the person you're relying on for help is chaotic and inneficient.

I don't really see what is "Express" about it. Considering that the state facilities aren't open on the weekends, and most people have to wait until Saturdays to come and get these things taken care of, you would think that they would better staff things here. It took about 2 hours total. Not as bad as the regular DMV, but still, paying the extra $30 hardly seems worth it to me. The staff was great though, and really did a great job.
