I really enjoyed my Fajitas Jalisco with my really cold draft beer. The beer came in a frozen mug, which is the way it should be so that my beer stays nice and cold. I loved the fact that they kept bringing out warm chips with salsa. The fajitas consisted of a mixture of meats, including beef, chicken, and shrimp on a nice sizzling hot plate. When we arrived, we were immediately sat at the booth. The service was on point as they were pretty expedient with taking our order and bring out the food in a timely manner. Confused by all the rave reviews. Welcoming was kind of terse, not friendly, but I'm totally fine with that. However, I wasn't so fine with the cleanliness, or lack thereof, of the place. I'm no neat freak and I was definitely hungry enough that it didn't quite spoil my appetite but... We were given chips and salsa and the salsa was very (too) mild. Lots of chips! Was hoping for veggie or fish options. Found 4 veggie options and ordered veggie fajitas but couldn't have the rice cause it's made with chicken stock. My husband ordered a couple of things a la carte: a cheese quesadilla and a tilapia taco. He thought the food was better than expected.... I don't get it. This place will do in a pinch. read more

The Food - 5 Stars: For the order, we had: 1) Steak Fajitas 2) Chorizo Queso 3) Chips/Salsa The Drinks - 4 Stars: 1) Frozen Margaritas Atmosphere 4 Stars: The small place has a nice vibe to it. The high back booths were a quaint and somehow seemed to make the place bigger. The Service - 3 Stars: We stopped in Sikeston on a Sunday evening (7/24) on a road trip from Indiana to Texas and were sat down immediately with no wait. It was not too busy, and we were able to get served well. I generally expect a little more attention from the waitstaff which is why this one is lower. The Price - 5 Stars: $ - Total food and drinks (before tip) ~$30 total. Since we split the fajitas, it might be more expensive for other entrees. We have traveled to all 48 states now and only 3 have been 5 stars - Taco Cabo in Steamboat Springs, CO, Barrio Queen in Tempe, AZ, and this place. Well done El Nopalito! Hands down my family's favorite Mexican food around!!! I work in Cape Girardeau but live in between sikeston and Benton. The cheesesteak tacos never ever disappoint. So much food. So reasonably priced!!!! The service is good. Very friendly. And it's a small quaint location. I hope they never move and stay small. Also having a drive through is bonus points on lazy nights!!! Who knew good Mexican could be found along the highways and byways of little town Missouri? But it's true! El Nopalito does authentic Mexican with good service in a clean restaurant with a retro 50's look (perhaps from previous tenants). My son liked his enchilada and taco combo plate, and I enjoyed the authentic chicken colorado dish, that had a nice warm spice to it. The chips 'n' salsa were homemade, although a spicier salsa is always appreciated. We also would have loved to have seen some namesake nopales on the menu. Ample parking. Oh, and the cactus guy mascot with a glove but no arm is adorable. read more

Delicious meal came out quick, and hot. Very busy but you do not wait long I arrived about 5:30 pm. The next time I eat here I will ask for the taco on a separate plate. Stop by you will not be disappointed. Ambiance is typical for a busy restaurant young people to the elderly, Mexican music in the background. Excellent Mexican restaurant, all around. Road tripping through Missouri, wanted to try Lambert's. 30 minute wait at 4:00 pm (no thank you) so we tried here. Glad we did! First, you gotta understand a couple things about me: 1. I'm a Mexican food aficionado - I've been to hundreds of different restaurants across the US in my lifetime. 2. I'm picky with my meat. With that being said, this place checked all the boxes. The rice and beans were on point. Both the steak and chicken in my fajita were delicious - charred to perfection. Salsa was good. Queso was good. Service was on point. And my girlfriend even exclaimed "this is the best water I've had in a long time" lol. So I guess they have good water. She also loved her quesadilla, for what it's worth. She said it was very flavorful and loved the queso inside. The value of this restaurant might be the best I've seen. The prices seemed extremely low, but the portions and quality of food did not match the price. I almost wonder how they make money I left a better tip than usual for this reason. 11/10. El Nopalito Grill was everything it was hyped up to be. My girlfriend and I were passing through and saw the great reviews. We were surprised to read that incredible Mexican food was right off I-55. Little did we know incredible was an understatement. I got the steak fajitas and they were delicious. My girlfriend got two steak and one chicken tacos and we got a chunky guacamole to start. Holy moly everything was so good. We preferred the steak to the chicken but both were unbelievable. Service was great and the prices were incredible. Great portion sizes too as we left with enough food for another meal. Loved the classic hometown Mexican restaurant ambiance too! I stayed in Sikeston at the Pear Tree and asked for recommendations. The check in gave me the usuals, in clouding Lamberts, but then whispered, "but if you like Mexican..." and the rest is history! I got the food to go. While there the staff was very friendly. I got a margarita while waiting; a very short wait and took my shrimp dish to go. Wow! It was fantastic. I wish I could remember the name, something like shrimp paluso(?). It was incredible, and I now live in Texas! Everything I saw looked so good. Staff was great and very accommodating. read more

We stopped here for a late lunch while on a road trip. The food was delicious! The chips were really good and crispy, and the salsa was very good. My husband said the salsa picosa roja was also delicious. He has the fajita quesadilla and I had pollo fundido, both from the lunch menu. We couldn't even finish half of it. They were both wonderful. We stopped while traveling 60 & chose El Nopalito based on all of the seemingly good reviews. Im sad to say we didn't have a good experience. The service was quick & very nice, but that's about the only good thing going for this place based on our experience. The food was bland, the guacamole was pretty much inedible how horrible it tasted. The bathrooms were falling apart, the women's room was taped off with blue painters tape that said "out of service" so the men's room was the only option. There was actual feces everywhere and it was like someone exploded in the men's room. Tiles falling off, really horrible. I can't say more emphatically that we will definitely not return. read more

This was a really good place. Small, next to Pear Tree hotel, in Miner (Sikeston). Stopped in for dinner while in town for business. The regular house salsa wasn't anything spectacular, but the spicy salsa the will bring you (upon request) was some of the best I've had anywhere. Extremely spicy, but it had such a complex flavor profile--really good. I had just been to the gym and was hungry, so I ordered the Molcajete--which is a traditional stone mixing bowl about the size of a volleyball, filled with grilled chicken, steak, (usually shrimp too, but I don't do seafood in MO) and peppers, onions, jalapenos, etc.--all grilled fresh. I went there around 430p. I was sat down pretty quickly. I ordered my appetizer (shredded chicken nachos)and he took my order also (pineapple chicken). Unfortunately one of my pet peeves happened, my appetizer came with my meal. Part my fault because I didn't technically tell him to bring it separately because I thought it was implied. Now I'm from Texas so to me the salsa was bland. The meal was good, had nice flavor there was just more pineapple than chicken. They have $5 margaritas so I may try it again. read more
