Preface: This is a midwestern Mexican restaurant. Being from down south I expected bland food. Why? That's who they cater to. Pro tip, ask for the house made hot sauce. OMG, it changes everything! Service is awesome; food, best midwest Mexican I could ask for. Ask for the sauce. read more

This place is the bomb !!! They went out of their way to get me some food at closing time. They had a clean restaurant and looked authentically good ! They were so nice. The food was so amazing !! I haven't had good Mexican food in a while. I will be back !!! They are hurting right now because the state has closed the off ramps in both directions and no trucks can get in. The state needs to get their head out of there a$$ They are just a small restaurant trying to make it. Come support this place read more

food is good price is way to freaking high, will not go back unless prices change, will continue to go to other Mexican restaurants with better prices such as the one in Puxico read more

I am a regular here at Las Brisas, but I thought why not leave a review as my dinning experience today. I go off a 10/10 scale and every time something wrong happens I think if it is regular or not. So started out great with a nice warm welcome and the waiter was very patient and nice. I got cheese dip and ordered a grilled chicken cheese quesadilla. The chips were a little harder than usual but I'm not complaining. I just got the cheese and it already had clumps of cheese. -1. I want the cheese smooth. Just got my food as you can see below. It was good. I do have to say you have to pay a little more for using a card than cash. So overall I say 9/10 recommend. read more

Las Brisas - a plate of mexican food - Mexican Near Me - Charleston, Missouri

I spotted a big sign for Las Brisas shortly after passing Sikeston, MO on I-57 E and decided to take my chances--trying a place without yelping it first is a rare thing for me these days. It's in the middle of nowhere and didn't look like much from the outside, but as soon as I stepped inside, I was ecstatic! The same kind of painted chairs/booths as the great Mexican restaurant I used to frequent in Memphis! I had to ask the young man which part of Mexico they are from and he said Jalisco, where the El Gallo Giro people are from as well (I believe). From the booths, chairs, table tops to the wall paintings, the interior oozes cultural pride. The food was as impressive as the décor. Complimentary chips and salsa both above average. My travel companion practically scraped clean his huge plate of chimichanga, rice and beans. While the chicken enchilada and chile relleno might have been a little too cheesy and saucy for my timid palate, I still ate more than usual and he had no problem helping me finish up the plate. As he dipped the last chip into the rich cheese and sauce mixture on my plate, he declared this as the best Mexican food he had since leaving California (take it with a grain of salt as hunger might have clouded his judgment). Driving through the mid section of the country isn't the most exciting road trip of all, but finding a place like Las Brisas will surely brighten up your drive! Right off Exit 12 on I-57 with gas stations nearby, just do it. read more

Everything started out good. Got my drinks and menus. Another group walks in and they got there drinks and menus.. after 10 minutes no one came back to take out order. I look over and tho group that came in about 5 minutes after us has ordered. So I had to go to the front counter. They apologized and took our order. I get it mistakes happen. But we were the only other people in the place. Food was good and the prices are fair. read more

Absolutely amazing!! Please visit this place! I was really hungry on my way down South from Chicago and I seen good reviews and it was excellent! This place looked vacant from the outside but the food was extremely good. Thank goodness for them because I took extra food home!! I had the ground beef burrito and the taco soup! Amazing! read more

Praise Jesus- people! So awesome to finally be safely in a public restaurant enjoying the locals and great food! What a HUGE blessing to find this place on our way down South! Food is excellent. For most Mexican restaurants in a small country town- it's nice to at least get grilled cactus and Horchata drink. I went for the combination appetizer and it was delicious. My daughter and I shared this and she got grilled cactus with her corn dog and Horchata so she was tickled. The complimentary chips and salsa are amount the best. Super thin, crisps with fresh, homemade (mild) salsa. read more

Passing by here on a road trip, exceptionally hungover, and needed somewhere to get some good vegan food. If you get the vegetarian enchiladas without cheese or sour cream it's vegan and the veggies were soooo good. read more

It's not authentic I can tell you that, the horchata was watery, the taco was sad and the enchiladas made me mad. I was hungry though.

So many options on the menu and the price was amazing for the amount of food we got, not to mention the food came out quickly. I finished maybe a third and still had plenty left to make a second meal out of it. I would definitely come back again if I'm back in the area. There were so many things on the menu that I would've liked to try. My friend is vegan and there were even some options for him. We also enjoyed the music. read more

Great food and healthy portions. I walked over after parking at Casey's. I read the reviews before I came and it is not disappointing. Great service and food! I will come back but after I take a 10 hour break. read more

I don't normally do a review like this,,but sorry,,sometimes there is no way around it,,this place was given a 4 stars and I don't know how,, the service was OUTSTANDING,,but all of our meal was Totally Bland, from the salsa and chips to the tacos, and fajitas. If you come here be prepared to bring your own seasonings to give some kind of flavor to your meal and for total of $ 25.00 dollars for 2 people,,I think it's just terrible read more

My first visit I had the enchilada platter with beef, chicken and cheese. Second visit I ordered the pollo las brisas which I would describe as ordering chicken fajitas but the chicken is not cut up. Now add a piece of ham(package lunch meat) on top of chicken with melted cheese. The service is where this establishment shines. The food is your average every day pre packaged canned no flavor Mexican fare right down to the chips and table sauce. I would recommend avoiding the bathroom if possible. read more

This is on the No list, but maybe give it another try if desperate. The first thing I noticed was the dirtiness of the chairs, curtains, etc., and the torn unsanitary seats. Our server was attentive, the food came out exceptionally fast, and had a fast food quality to it (enchiladas, queso, beans and rice). I don't usually give bad reviews...maybe this was just an off night. On the good side, they do have beer on draft! read more

The food was nice, and could be better if they hadn't drowned everything in so much salt. I ordered a chicken California burrito, babe had fajitas. The flavor was there but about 10 dashes too many of salt. The menu had a wide variety of options and the people were friendly. read more

The carne asada is supposed to be grilled salsa was not that great the tortillas are not homemade I think that almost everything in this restaurant is most likely frozen or it comes out from a can read more

Las Brisas is a welcome respite from a bunch of chain restaurants on the interstate -- and it's as fast as any fast food. The restaurant is visible from I-57 and next door to a gas station -- superconvenient. When you walk in, you're greeted by a cheerful interior and an expansive menu. Just about every Mexican place offers beef, pork and chicken entrees but I judge above-average ones to be the ones that offer shrimp, too. This one delivered -- I enjoyed the flavorful Quesadilla with Shrimp & Sausage. It wasn't typical -- more like a taco than grilled flat -- but it also wasn't drowning in cheap cheese. I enjoyed it. The guacamole and beans were sort of bland but still good. The free chips were light and crispy, and the salsa was not spicy but flavorful. The most impressive element -- the service. Amazingly fast! We were there at 11:20 for lunch so it was quiet, but I think no more than 4 minutes passed between placing our order and digging in. Excellent value, all around. And by the way, the bathroom was not scary. read more

Not to expensive and has variery of food. It really does feel like steeping into Mexico.

Yummy and fresh! We had stopped overnight and this restaurant was near our hotel. The outside didn't look spectacular but it was hopping so we guessed the food couldn't be bad if it was that busy. The food was soooo good. Our server was very attentive without being bothersome. Its a quaint Mexican restaurant with lovey hand carved wooden tables and chairs. read more

Service was fast but the food was average. Restrooms were not clean and there were lots of flies.

Dios mio, this place was fantastic. I got the chimichanga and my partner got the shrimp quesadilla. Both were incredible and we both cleaned our plates. Well worth the stop. read more

Don't let the location in the parking lot of a budget motel off I-57 put you off. Very good value and flavor for money in a limited restaurant environment. Competent and friendly service, good (ie, not too sweet) margarita. My husband is a chile poblano connoisseur and he was VERY pleased with Las Brisas'. Get the molcajete if you've never had it. Smoky, rich and spicy stew of chorizo, beef, chicken, shrimp and vegetables--a bargain meal for two! read more
