My husband and I enjoy eating at El Tapatio. We've been going there for about a decade, a couple of times a month. The food is good, and the staff is pleasant and on point with drinks. It gets busy sometimes, but be still and courteous--servers are human beings. Definitely recommend. read more

Good food, affordable, friendly service, and clean! We stopped by, because I was craving some guacamole and it was delicious. They had a new "chunky guacamole" that was served in a traditional black basin with a slice of lime on the side. We ate it right up! Their salsa was also delicious and this is always how I judge a Mexican restaurant. I ordered the pollo feliz with mushroom & avocado slices. yummy! My hubby got the tapatio seafood plate with shrimp/fish/rice/salad. The meal was good, but the guacamole was the stand out for me. They are a local chain with a few other locations in town, so I would definitely check them out if in Dexter! read more

My wife and I absolutely fell in love with this restaurant. First time for us both, and I had the Mexican Flag. The most wonderfully flavored enchiladas I ever had, each one of the three unique in flavor. Never had anything like that before and makes me want to try the entire menu! I feel like I tasted Mexican food for the first time. The restuarant was clean and service was fantastic when we went for lunch. Unfortunately the service here wasnt the best. I believe the bad service stemmed from having more customers than they could comfortably handle. They got my order completely wrong and it had to be remade. Whenever anything was asked for the waiter seemed burdened by it and never said "You're Welcome" when he was thanked. Just a few things like that, which added up over the course of the meal. As far as the food goes, my food wasn't that good honestly, but other items looked decent. They also have good margaritas. So it seems like it could be a hit or miss place. I'd be willing to give it another try when they aren't so busy. read more

You can expect exceptional service at this restaurant. Although Dexter has many, many Mexican restaurants, this one is my absolute favorite. The owners go above and beyond to make sure that you are happy with your food, happy with your service and happy with your overall experience. They have a large menu and cook everything quickly and with loads of talent. I've yet to have a cold, burned or over/under-seasoned meal yet. If you want something off-menu, they will try their absolute hardest to accommodate. My kids absolutely love coming here. They always say, "Let's go to Mexico to eat tonight!". It's great for a quick lunch break, a long lunch date, large groups for any meal, kids and families and everything in between. We even had my mom's 60th surprise birthday party in their large, private dining area. Once, I ordered a to-go order that included an extra cheese dip. They forgot to put it in the bag, so they looked up the phone number where I work to call me and tell me they were sorry. This place, the owners and the staff are just the best!I wish there were more start on Yelp!! read more

We were in there on Saturday night (3/7/15). The service was not the best. I actually had to ask the bus boy to get my waiter. When I asked the waiter questions about the food and sides he seemed agitated, so I just ordered a quesadilla. My drink was watered down...not too happy about that, and the waiter disappeared into thin air after he delivered the food. The food was good, but sadly the poor service over ruled my desire to eat at this restaurant again... read more

I wad very impressed at the amount of food that was given us for lunch. The taco salad with fajita meat was huge and chock full of meat and veggies with very good flavor. I'd go back again, a little better than most. All veggies were beyond fresh a d the avocados were so good, they were just like they were picked that morning. read more

Food was mediocre at best, ordered steak rancho t-bone dinner. Steak was tough and when asked by the server if everything was ok, I told him my steak was tough and he just smiled and walked away as if he didn't understand. If you stop here don't expect anything worthy of your trouble. read more

I quit going to El Tapito 1 because of their staff, so Saturday hubby and I went to El Tapito 2, the food was OK, not nearly spicy enough. After lunch I went to the ladies room, BIG MISTAKE, it was filthy, it looked like a gas station bathroom. The hot water was running, I tried to turn it off but it wouldn't , soap was all over the sink, tissue was on the floor, there was no paper towels and it just looked dirty. As I was walking out I noticed a door that said employees only, I looked at the floor, in the corner the floor was absolutely black. I tried to ignore what I had seen, chalk it up to being busy, by the time I got home I was sick. I had food poisoning, I was sick all night Saturday and most of Sunday. Obviously I will not be going back to either El Tapitos. read more
