    Mango salsa, tilapia
    Danny M.

Came in at 6:00 and was seated immediately. As I was checking out the menu my waiter asked if I needed a couple of minutes, boy did he ever mine a couple! He kept coming back every two to three minutes and finally after the third time I was ready. I had the mango tilapia and he said it was spicy and asked if that was ok. Well, I have eaten two-thirds of it and have not noticed any excessive spiciness. The sitting is just like any of El Nopal's restaurants, authentic, looking and festive. There was plenty of room for many people.

    Great enchiladas!

Great food, excellent service. Food is always hot and fresh. Facilities are the cleanest I've ever seen!

Great night before Valentine's Day. We got the pork chops dinner special. Two THICK pork chops w/rice and beans, tomatilla sauce, and tortillas (per person).. buy one for $16, other discounted $7. Roughly $12.50 each. SO worth it!!

Stopped at El Nopal off the beaten path coming home from a weekend at Lake Rudolph. Typical El Nopal experience- quick and reliable Mexican food.

Great Service & always feels welcoming. Sometimes they mess up on orders but even the mess ups taste good!

Had been wanting to try The Fair for a long time. Unfortunately it was disappointing. I could have…read morepossible given a 2.5 score but no more. Some aspects were good but several were really bad. We stated with the Fire appetizer, grilled season shrimp, escargot, broiled oyster, and scallops. The escargot was not done in any sauce, basically just cooked in the shell., no butter or garlic. The scallops were gritty and the oysters were terrible. The shrimp were pretty good but different seasoning. We had the Caesar salad which was pretty good. My wife had the special of lobster and filet. The lobster was way over cooked and the filet was a salt block. She could not eat it. We tried to cut the seasoning off of it to eat it. Definitely not worth $80. I had the charred octopus. I must say it was very good and I shared it with my wife and ate some of her steak. We also had the lister Mac and cheese which was ok. The service was hit and miss. The waiter liked to talk to other tables and took awhile to get back at times. Will not be going back.

The Fair is a fantastic looking restaurant. The new owners did not fix one of the major drawbacks of the space, however, and it is just as loud as Toast was. Sound baffling would help, but it wouldn't have made my experience all that much better. We were seated at a table in the back. Despite our fairly early reservation, we were next to an 8-person table that, when filled, got noisy. The velvet cushioned seats were nice. Booths looked good as well. Lighting is low and intimate. Drinks were meh. I wasn't impressed. I tried two and both were single note without much sophistication. The menu looked interesting, but I wasn't impressed with the execution. My scallops had good flavor but were overcooked and very soft. The braised short rib was good but it sat on a bed of spaghetti that was cut up; like you would for a child. The service was hit and miss. At times, our server seemed to be actively ignoring us to the point where one of our quartet jokingly asked if one of us had dated them and it had ended badly. The Fair is expanding, which is great, and I wish them the best, but a rating of "fair" is about all I could give my visit.
