Chupe: Peruvian shrimp stew w corn, cheese, egg and rice. Flavorful but not spicy.
    Kelly Y.

I came here for their Peruvian offerings. So far I've tried their Anticuchos, Chupe de Camarones, Arroz Mariscos and Lomo Saltado. My fave so far is the chupe: creamy shrimp chowder served w rice. It is thick, full of shrimp and creamy w cheesy flavors but not spicy. The Anticuchos: grilled beef heart marinated in cumin and other spices. It tastes like lean steak w a bit of irony flavor. While I like the taste, I would like it more if they grilled it with more char like at other places I've had. The three skewers are very plentiful for 3 to share or one as a meal. The Arroz Mariscos was full of seafood and a big serving. Lomo Saltado is...Lomo Saltado. Service is efficient and friendly. Some of the Peruvian dishes might take a little longer. I will be back for more chupe soon.

It took me a while to try this place, as every time I'd go to the website I was reminded how much higher the prices are than similar items elsewhere. But finally I gave in, hoping that the taste, quality, creativity, or quantity would make the extra cost worthwhile. I was inclined to try several things, but I couldn't bring myself to spend $50 at a place I hadn't vetted. I got the costillas (pork ribs) - wanting to try something different. The website didn't mention sides, but it ended up coming with fries - and my bag also had chicken fried rice, which I don't know was an accident or part of the meal. It was ok. The ribs were tasty and unique - but not good enough that I'd get them again if I went back. The fries were tasteless and not crisp at all. The rice was good - but seemed like Chinese takeout which isn't what I was looking for. Though I love leftovers, this only made one meal, as I needed all three ribs to get enough protein and I didn't eat the fries (not worth the calories!). I don't plan to go back. There are other great options in the area that better fit what I'm personally looking for in terms of flavor and value.

Ceviche. Really good portions great flavor. I ordered the spicy. Plenty for several people. Order it.

Really really good place. I was staying in a hotel near here and gave it a shot. Super clean. Friendly service. Mexican or Peruvian- I went Peruvian with the ceviche (pic below)- good portions great to split. The beef soup was really good too (see pic) Very happy with everything here- highly recommend.

    Sides, quac was exceptional

It's a little out of the way you can see it from hurstbourne but you have to go to the next light and turn... do so. Restaurant was well appointed and spacious. Very clean and pleasant ( except for the pan flute music, it wasn't horrible or pervasive but it was pan flute). I was there at 6pm on a Thursday and it was not busy. Staff was nice. I was seated quickly and my margarita came quickly ( a big plus) it was well within margarita standards. Salsa and chips appeared promptly and again were perfectly acceptable. Salsa was above average and was a nice size. Easily met my needs. Bills itself as Mexican/ Peruvian. Menu was pretty standard Mexican but included empanadas. I got the house special fajitas ( shrimp chicken beef chorizo and a small skirt steak) I was not displeased. Well cooked flavorful and a nice portion. Ordered beef empanadas to go, you have to ask because they only offer combo of buffalo chicken and beef ( not a fan of buffalo chicken as they usually use it as a way to use up substandard products) overall price and presentation was nice and reasonable for the area. As McArthur said I will return.

My son goes to school in Louisville and we've been meaning to try this place for a couple of years…read more Stopping by on a Saturday afternoon and was not disappointed. The chicken was seasoned perfectly and the meat was tender and juicy. The only sad part was there weren't any fries available. Other than that, we will certainly be back.

Sometimes, while visiting towns, you have to ask a local where to eat. Some suggestions work out,…read moreand others don't. Well, my buddy, Karl, had a pretty good suggestion for a recent trip to Louisville. My wife and I stopped by Yummy Polo to give it a try. Yummy Polo is a Peruvian-style charcoal-fired rotisserie chicken, slowly char-broiled and paired with southern-style mouthwatering sides--big flavors, big servings, designed to hit anyone's spot. I had the Half dark chicken with cilantro rice and chickpeas. The rice was cooked well, buttery, and had a hint of salt. I wasn't getting much cilantro flavor, but it was still tasty. The chickpeas were tender but still had a nice chew to them; the sauce they were cooked in had some subtle heat on the back end, and the dish needed a little salt. The chicken was very tender and juicy, and it was a good-sized portion. The skin was the star of the show; it was crispy and popped from the salt and spices. My wife and I both agreed that we could eat just a plate of the skin by itself. My wife tried the Half white chicken with chicken fried rice and green beans. The rice was cooked well and had a good flavor, but this dish tasted as if it had been sitting out for a while. The green beans were cooked perfectly, neither mushy nor overcooked, and they had a mild yet pleasant flavor, with a hint of sweetness on the finish, which was unexpected but not unwelcome. The chicken is where it was--tender, salty, juicy, and packed with flavor. Again, the skin was the star of the show and the money. Each dish was served with a green sauce and a mayo sauce. The green sauce was likely cilantro-based, adding a hint of heat to the dish, while the mayo sauce was creamy and sweet. The real trick was to mix them, which offered the best of both worlds and made a fantastic bite. The flavors, juiciness of the chicken, the crunch of the skin, and those sauces, that is the stuff dreams are made of. Yummy Polo offers their chickens in quarter, half, or whole portions. They have several sides, most of which are in a southern style. They offer a selection of desserts and various bread options. The restaurant is small; if there is a line, it's worth the wait. They also offer several varieties of soda and teas from a cooler or a Pepsi fountain machine. The Fat Man says that Yummy Polo is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.

I eat in sometimes but I typically order online to take-away. It doesn't matter whether I eat in or takeout, it always hits the spot. My perfect order: Half chicken Green rice Plantains Garsh! Thinking about it makes me sit here drooling. If plantains and green rice aren't the sides for you, check their menu. They have so many sides that you're sure to find the ones for you. Other appreciations: Plenty of seating. Parking garage(Free as of 2025) in the area. A nearby brewery if you'd like to order your food and eat it there. And if for some reason you're still hungry after eating chicken, there is also a decent pizza spot next door to add a slice to your stomach.

Cauliflower, pickle plate, anything with broccolini. I'm an omnivore, so the steak and short ribs and crispy chicken sandwish have also been items I've enjoyed. The only thing I've tried that I didn't want to rave about was the salmon croquettes (just not as flavorful as you'd think based on the kimchi mention and the breading takes over), but I give them a pass considering how much everything else is top notch!! Don't sleep on that dark chocolate torte. On my most recent visit, I tried some of the cocktails and there is just nothing I won't order from this place.
