The best Mexican food I've had this far from Mexico! Definitely the most authentic Mexican I've ever had in Kentucky. Service was friendly and the soda cups are very large. The real star however, was the Mole Poblano I had, which the menu said was homemade. . .and I'll believe it. That was the best Mole sauce I've ever had, and definitely had a robust and nuanced flavor profile. The fried plantains that it came with were also excellent. It had been a while since we ate here so we decided to come for lunch. We walked in and were greeted by Alfonso who showed us to our table. Chips and salsa were brought before we could even sit down. We ordered a Margarita and a Blue Moon beer and started in on the chips. The chips are made fresh daily in house and are the best chips I've ever had. We both got the chicken fajitas and they were scrumptious. We like to support small local businesses and this one deserves it. read more

We went to the Chocolate Crawl in LaGrange and just happened to park across the street from Sofia's. We didn't realize it existed. It was actually one of the stops on the Chocolate Crawl(hot chocolate from them). Once we completed the Crawl we decided to have lunch here. What a find. It was probably the most authentic Mexican restaurant we have been to. There was a family of people sitting near us who had been to Mexico and voiced the same sentiments. A great place for authentic Mexican food. The portions are worth the cost and the staff is great. I have been to this restaurant multiple times and plan to go back again soon. The menu is larger than expected and you can still get custom ordered dishes regularly. This is not a Tex-mex place but you can order those type of dishes if you desire. This is a real authentic Mexican food place that has menudo, lengua, chicharron, pozole, etc. The house hot sauces are great also. After hearing my parents rave about Sophia's Mexican Grill, I had to check it out myself. I have been twice now and both times have been nothing short of amazing! The tortilla chips and the tortillas themselves are made fresh in house. The Quesa Birria Tacos are the best I have ever had. The service is friendly, and the restaurant is conveniently located. Just a block off from La Grange's Main Street. If you love spicy food like I do, you need to request their macha hot sauce. I put it on everything, and it has a great kick!! read more

This place is NOT TexMex!! It's much better. The menu is a far cry from the rest of the Mexican joints in LaGrange, and that in itself is refreshing. Bonus--this place also has breakfast. Every item I've gotten from here has been good. Breakfast I highly recommend. Their chips are homemade, and delicious. The food always comes out fairly quickly, and nice and hot. The waiters are very friendly and care about the service you get. I just plain like this place. There's not enough nice things I can say about it, other than you need to go try it yourself. My dad and I had the most delicious lunch at Sofia's. It is without a doubt the best Mexican food in the Louisville area and probably in the entire state. I grew up in California and am always extremely disappointed after eating at Mexican restaurants out here. Not this time. I've found my go to place! Best Mexican food in the area. If you want a taste of So. California Mexican food, you need to try the chicken flautas. They are dead on like the chicken rolled tacos you can get at Roberto's. Also, Sofia's makes their chips on site. NO place around here does that. The chips alone are worth the visit. Finally, if you can handle very spicy sauce, request a very small bowl of 'macha'. This is extremely hot sauce made on site. Add a little of this to the table salsa to bump up the heat. read more
