It's been quite a while since our last visit to Mi Tierra. But we were in the neighborhood and stopped in after our grandsons' soccer game at the nearby YMCA. Mi Tierra remains a solid choice for TexMex. Remarkably consistent. Portions are ample. The food is served hot. And served quickly. Service remains excellent. My wife went for the Pollo San Luis, a flattened chicken breast covered with fajita style peppers & onions. I rarely order chicken dishes as they are often overcooked Not tonight. Her chicken was fork tender and moist. I avoided my usual fajitas and ordered The Burrito Mi Tierra. A large rolled flour tortilla stuffed with steak, peppers & onions. I thought the steak was a bit chewy, but there was lots of flavor packed into the burrito. A substantial service of rice and "salad" completed the plate. Took my son's family for lunch. Someone ordered a bean burrito with lettuce and sour cream. They charged $3.00 for the lettuce and $2.50 for the sour cream. Now a plain $7.00 bean burrito with no sides was almost $13,00. And the food was very average tasting. Never again. read more

This place continues to be a gem in Buckner, KY! Since our last visit, they have expanded their outside seating. It was a beautiful night to enjoy the Covid friendly patio. The service continued to be excellent - friendly, fast, and attentive. The food was excellent, especially the Cancun Tilapia! The margarita was yummy too - and huge! Hopefully they will add some plants to block off the view of the gas station but, otherwise, it was wonderful! Give it a try! read more

This place had a bunch off good reviews so we decided to try it. Someone even said it tasted like So. California Mexican food. Well, that someone was wrong. This place uses the same, bland cheese sauce covered recipes that are strangely popular in Kentucky. My wife ordered her favorite dish, huevos rancheros and they were abysmal. The sauce should be tasty, a little spicy and not covering everything thing on the plate. This sauce tasted like someone dumped a packet of taco seasoning, franks hot sauce and a can of Mountain Dew in a pan. Then they dumped at least a cup and a half on the plate, submerging everything, including the rice. Horrible presentation and even worse flavor. My margarita was obviously a cheap mixer straight from the plastic bottle. This place gets an extra star because our waiter was friendly and apologetic. Not recommended. read more

This is, hands down, our favorite Mexican restaurant in Oldham County. There are some contenders, for sure - but coming from Southern California, there is a high bar to reach, and Mi Tierra is above that bar for sit down restaurants. If you like authentic Mexican food, it will be difficult to find a better place than Mi Tierra in Oldham County; the food, service and ambiance is like coming home to my wife's grandma's house. This was our first time to eat here and I have to say it was outstanding. They have only been open for 3 months but, they are now my choice for my favorite Mexican food stop. We walked in and were immediately greeted with a friendly smile by the hostess. We asked for a booth and she sat us in a very comfortable one on the side. Right behind her was a server to get our drink orders and give us an order of chips and salsa. They also serve a ranch dip which we did not care for. It just did not seem to go with the chips. We like our salsa with a little kick so we had to ask our server for some "hot stuff" which he brought right away. We mixed it with the regular and it was just right for us. They have an excellent lunch menu with a lot of selections at very reasonable prices. And it's "Happy Hour" all day. I ordered the Shrimp Fajitas. Had 10 tender shrimp and was very good. My wife got the Chicken Fajitas, also very good. The servings are very generous and unusually large compared to other Mexican restaurants where we've eaten. They have deserts that sound delicious like Fried ice Cream but, we were just too full. We even had to get To-Go boxes. Our server asked if we wanted to also take the remaining chips and handed us a small white paper bag to put them in. A really nice touch. He also gave us a plastic bag to carry out the go boxes. The service was exceptional. There is also a patio with table service outside for when the weather is comfortable. If you like Mexican food you will love this place. read more

If you want to be served a delicious meal that is large and reasonably priced, go to Mi Tierra! They are also quick at serving your party and have wonderful Margaritas! It's cozy but festive. Decided to give this place a shot after hearing rave reviews from several folks and I'm glad we did. The food was excellent. The chimichanga was very good and my husband really enjoyed the carne asada. My daughter ordered a cheese pizza off the kids menu and it looked like something you would get from a school cafeteria but she liked it. My only complaint is the service felt a bit off. It took over 5 minutes to be approached to get drink orders, it took a while on the meal, and midway through our chip basket was taken and was not brought back refilled until we flagged someone down to ask for more chips. It was a Saturday and very busy so I'm guessing this is probably the exception rather than the norm and even so it wasn't bad, just not the greatest. Will definitely be going back and will be trying out the margaritas next time! read more

Some of the best tacos and salsa in Louisville! I've never had a taco this packed full of beef or what have you. The staff is Very friendly! They have this pico de Gallo that is UNREAL!
