    California burrito with fajita sides
    Hannah H.

The California burrito is so big, it looks like a meal you would win for free if you could finish it. Not that anyone in my family could finish it, but it's really good!

Remodeled!! The new expanded patio. Bummed the kids play area is gone though. Food was great like always.

This place is kind of hit or miss for me and my family. When the food is good it's exceptionally delicious and awesome, but other times it's just "eh." The food is reasonably priced, and they have specialty dishes I haven't seen anywhere else. Well, perhaps it's because I've never looked -- I'm not exactly "adventurous" when it comes to Mexican food. ;-) The great: We LOVE the outdoor patio with a play area for the kiddos and TVs (football!) for the adults = YES!!!! They have a lot of available seating even though it's always busy, they keep everything clean, and the service is very friendly and efficient. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it if you're out in the OC!

Who goes to a Mexican restaurant and orders a cheeseburger and fries? THIS GIRL!!! On this particular day everyone wanted Mexican for lunch but I wasn't feelin' it. Luckily the nice gentleman who waited on us allowed me to order the cheeseburger off the kids menu. HAHAHAHA!!! For less that six bucks I had a huge meal and it was soooo good! I was a little surprised to be honest. The burger actually came with little potato smiley faces but he offered me fries instead. The burger was really tasty and was made with a double patty. The fries were hot and crispy. The only condiments they had was ketchup, but that was just fine with me! I did have some chips and salsa and I must say it was pretty great. Some of the best I've had. On my next visit I'll probably try the fish tacos. They looked great!!

This is my second time eating here. The food is fine, the servers are nice, and the bathrooms are clean.

After dinner laughter!! Cheap but good margarita's might have helped with that a little lol

It was juicy, fresh, full of amazing flavor and the bun had the perfect consistency, not too hard or too soft, it never fell apart! ! Rich, flavorful, and completely addictive, it disappeared fast. The warm butter rolls arrived alongside pesto butter, but I stayed loyal to regular butter. No regrets. A quick shoutout to our server, Devante. He was new, but you'd never know it. Friendly, attentive, and impressively knowledgeable about the menu, he handled everything like a seasoned pro and made the experience even better. For dinner, I ordered the chicken piccata with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. While the chicken was excellent, the Brussels sprouts stole the show--perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and easily the standout item on my plate. Dad went with the Mediterranean chicken, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. The chicken was a winner, though the broccoli was a bit tougher than expected. Mom chose the voodoo shrimp and fries, but honestly, her true love affair of the evening was with the lobster dip. I'm fairly certain she consumed enough of it for the entire table. By this point, we were all happily full. But there was still one reason to save room. The strawberry shortcake. Light, sweet, and absolutely unforgettable, it was the highlight of the entire meal. The kind of dessert that quiets the table and leaves everyone smiling after the last bite. That alone is reason enough to come back.

No wait and we were seated immediately in a booth. Service was great the entire visit. Our server Renne was knowledgeable, efficient, and kept things moving. Unfortunelky when we sat, our server let us know they were out of calamari, which was a letdown since it is one of their #1 appetizers. Here's the breakdown: Prickly Pear Margarita $15 This was sweet and smooth without being overly strong. The flavor leaned slightly toward raspberry. Easy to drink and well balanced. I liked it Complimentary bread We were served two warm rolls with a herb style pesto butter. The bread was fresh and soft inside with a light crust. Simple but very good, especially for something complimentary and unlimited. Fried mushrooms $13 Good portion size. The breading was light and crisp but not heavy, so you still got the mushroom flavor through it. The texture was tender, almost soft like cauliflower when cooked right. What really made this dish was the sauce, a spicy chipotle style aioli with a creamy base. That sauce was honestly better than the mushrooms themselves. Lobster bisque Included with the entree. Very creamy, smooth texture, rich color. The flavor was solid but slightly muted. There were very few visible lobster chunks, which was the main downside. It tasted more like a creamy seafood soup than something loaded with lobster. Still, as a free included side it was fine. A bit more salt and actual lobster pieces would improve it a lot. 14 oz Ribeye $43 This was the main event and it was great. Ordered medium rare and it came out exactly medium rare. The steak had a solid charcoal grilled crust on the outside without being overly burnt or bitter.Added some really great flavor. Some places overdo the char and it takes over the meat. Inside was juicy, tender, and a perfect mix of fat and meat. Really solid overall. They also split the steak and plated it for two without charging extra, which included dividing the sides as well. I also like how there was a small portion of chive butter included on the plate. It was simple but added a nice touch to the the steak. Most other toppings or flavored butters were $4 extra so it was nice nice to try one for free. Loaded baked potato side Large size and fully loaded with cheese, bacon, sour cream, and butter. It was soft inside with a proper fluffy texture, not dry or undercooked. Pretty standard steakhouse loaded potato. Strawberry shortcake Complimentary dessert with a candle for the special occasion, which was a nice touch. This was easily the highlight of the entire meal. Perfect balance between cake and strawberry filling. The strawberries tasted fresh and had real sweetness rather than being overly syrupy. Honestly one of the best strawberry shortcakes I've ever had and I grew up eating the ice cream pops. Highly recommended. Overall: Service was great, solid food, fair prices, and the dessert was excellent. The biggest downside was the calamari being unavailable, especially since it is their #1 app. I'll be back to actually try the calamari next time.

The American breakfast had large potato pieces, good sausage, and made to order eggs. Hot coffee was on the better side for hotel coffee. Dinner: they were super accommodating, as we were traveling with a friend with an infant. I called ahead to let them know we would come in with a stroller, and they made sure to sit us in an area where the stroller was not in the way of servers or other guests. Our server was one of the most attentive people I have ever met, and every recommendation they gave was fantastic. We started with the oyster rockefellar and the spicy tuna tartare. The oysters were massive and the tuna dish was so good, we got it a second time later in the weekend. We all got steaks for our mains and added a lobster tail - there was a mix up with the lobster tail taking a bit and they ended up bringing out the largest lobster tail to make up for it. All steaks, their sides, and sauces were fantastic- better than most I have had in the DC area. The food was all rich so under order or share amongst friends. Cocktails were of course fantastic, from espresso martinis to the famous smoked old fashions. We had drinks at the bar another night and the service was just as good, though they did tell us that they didn't serve the drink in a smoke box when we certainly had one just a night before.

It's a nice hotel, and a pleasant steakhouse, but not sure it demands quite that much love. Most importantly, they don't know how to cook a steak. The flavor is spot on, you can really taste the wood fire, and the steaks are seasoned well. But the wife ordered a filet medium and it came out blood rare. My medium rare strip was presented rare, which I'm ok with, though it was noticeably still a bit more cooked than her "medium" filet. Having to return a steak to get it cooked properly, at an apparently well respected upscale steakhouse, is a disappointment, a big bump in the middle of a pleasant evening. We started with the oysters rock, which were quite good, and quite large. The french onion soup was a nice classic version. We split an heirloom tomato salad, and each still got two very large and thick slices of tomato, making the split a good sized salad for each of us. The balsamic pearls were a treat. An unexpected pleasure were the parker house rolls. Yum. Though between enjoying them, with the split salad, splitting the oysters, and the soup, we'd clearly over ordered! Repeal is a pleasant fine dining spot in the midst of the Louisville downtown action. They just need to learn how to cook steaks to temp before they rise to a truly 5 star destination.

Wife enjoyed the mimosa and the sangria was a generous pour and very tasty. Then they brought out a basket of fried biscuits with cinnamon butter - outstanding! My daughter asked how long the wait was. The hostess paused and finally said about 30 minutes. We left because the vibe they were giving us was that they didn't want to seat us which I didn't understand. We were well dressed so I couldn't imagine it was our attire, but that was the vibe they were giving us. When we left, I told my kids it must be because we didn't have a reservation. I was trying to the hostesses the benefit of the doubt. My daughter got online and made a reservation for 30 minutes out, as we all decided we really wanted to try Stoney River. We walked back in 5 minutes before our reservation. Now there were about 5 hostesses behind the counter. I could tell from their faces that they recognized us and a couple of them were whispering again. I walked up to the counter and gave them our reservation information and they said ok. While we were eating we saw them walking by the kitchen looking at us again. This was not a look as if they were checking on us. Our server was nice and did a good job. The food and wine were fine but I have to say the experience with the hostesses really ruined the experience that I couldn't even focus on the food. Unfortunately, we won't be back.
