The food was good and the queso was really good. It was a little too loud with all the TVs but otherwise not a bad place. The wings are on point and worth going for by themselves.

    Tiny overcooked steak cactus special.

Messed up my order than got an attitude with me. Don't recommend carryout. Store quality has went to shit. This tiny plate was almost $16 and the steak is over cooked and onions are undercooked. This is after I had to ask for the cheese dip I was supposed to get that was barely on it. Been a loyal customer since high school. They don't have salsa and chips with togo orders anymore unless u pay $4 even though it is free dine in. Might not be worth your time anymore. Also update steak so over cooked a few pieces were CRUNCHY!

With all the 5 star reviews and the love on Yelp!, I had high expectations for Yellow Cactus. Judging by the Friday dinner crowd, we were off to a great start. The interior is welcoming, the. restaurant is clean and we were seated promptly. A server was Johnny on the spot with chips and salsas. One salsa was mild and the other had just a touch of heat. The menu is expansive. But sadly, our food was underwhelming. My wife's chicken enchiladas with mole was flavorless. The chicken was dry and the mole sauce was woefully thin and failed to cover the enchiladas. Chicken fajitas? Served sizzling with flour tortillas, lots of grilled veggies and overcooked chicken. Yellow Cactus only serves refried beans. No boracho. No charro. No black beans. I don't get it. Our friends fared better. The chimichanga was large, filled with ground beef and smothered in cheese & gravy. The big winner was the el patron steak burrito. That disappeared. Portions are generous. Service is very good. And prices are a tad high, but not oppressive. But the Yellow Cactus needs to improve their food quality to be worthy of those very generous 5 star reviews.

I have been a loyal Cactus fan from the start but after today I don't think I will be able to convince my husband to go back. The prices have gone up in my opinion pretty substantially. The chicken fajita quesadilla is now $16.99..... granted it is huge now but I just wanted my $12.99 size. A soft taco is $3.99 and an a la carte chicken burrito is $8.99. Holy Smokes. Oh..... I ordered a side of ranch dressing which I don't mind paying a little extra for but they charged us this time $1.50. BUT the kicker is the surcharge they now charge. They have a sign posted and I asked what it exactly meant..... they had no idea. I'll post that picture as well. I guess we will travel to Puerta Vallarta next time. Such a shame....

The food was fine, the service was terrible and we were the only customers in the place.

Best salsa in the area. Service can be a little slow, but still our favorite Mexican in the area.

WOW, so glad I found this place, it beats El Nopal hands down for quality, taste and portions sizes. This is a must visit.

Food is always good, but the price is really expensive wow. I'm not sure that 3 tacos and a beer should cost $25

The food here is good. The queso is my fav in the area. It can get a little busy so be aware of that if you're looking for something quiet.

The service is lightning fast--no sooner did we get our order in and take a couple of phone pics for the occasion than our meals were at the table. My wife opted for a Chimichanga, it was hot and flavorful although she noted that the cheese seemed more like American than Queso. To be fair, a follow up visit she made with her friends a few days later was a big improvement, with no complaints. On our visit, I opted for the Speedy Gonzalez, a plate of tacos, simple but fresh, with a nice blend of flavors. This dish could use some spicing up, but I suppose you could throw some of the delicious complimentary salsa on them if you needed to (didn't occur to me at the time). These are soft tacos, and I appreciated the flour tortilla texture of each wrap. The main takeaway from this lunch was the promptness, good price point, and reasonably large portions. Our server was extremely quick, although, just as an observation, he did seem to be rushing us a bit at the end of our lunch, eager to swipe our dishes away. That said, he was on top of his game from start to finish. I would certainly revisit this El Nopal as it is close to our home and is clean, reliable, and a decent bite, especially in an area where non-fast food options are scarce.

Today is Cinco de Mayo and I was feeling up to a delicious authentic Mexican meal. This restaurant has a variety of various Mexican dishes and albeit is rather pricey for their platters, which range from $19-$29 and appetizers from $8-$22. Also surprisingly I didn't find any sort of dessert at all unless there is a separate menu for that but I was never told that by my server, more on that later. The environment is one you'd expect of any authentic Mexican restaurant, a very colorful decor with lots of Mexican decor spread throughout with some Mexican music playing in the background to set the ambiance of this establishment granted I was sitting in the background of the seating area and couldn't hear this music if I were sitting in the front. On this visit, being my first, I decided to try the Nachos Delicias (Queso, tomato, onions, cilantro, sour cream and choice of chicken, chorizo and steak) I requested no onions and steak. I also tried their Quesadilla El Jefe Jeff (Stuffed with cheese, steak, shrimp, chicken, chorizo, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, cilantro and sour cream) I requested no onions. The nachos were really nothing too terribly special outside of just being put in a somewhat fancy bowl to make them look or appear better than they were. They didn't taste too bad outside of finding the steak to not really be all that flavorful or seasoned. I feel for the price which was $18.50, that it could've been more for what I paid for. The quesadilla was absolutely worth it and was quite filling. Definitely the star of this meal however I was disappointed to find onion in my meal when I specifically requested there to not be. Outside of that is was quite good and something I'd order again. My biggest issue was there was only one server working and of all days it was on Cinco de Mayo which you as a Mexican restaurant should expect to be busy in which they were. Our server never once stopped to ask if we needed anything, no offer of dessert (which I am still not sure they offer) or even to ask if I wanted another drink. I don't see myself going out of my way to come here albeit it wasn't awful but the price for things was too much in my opinion. I feel that I've had better food for a lower price at other authentic Mexican restaurants. So just keep this in mind when deciding to stop here.
