Oh my goodness, this place is awesome! Where to start? First, the experience: we were greeted cheerily by Omar holding the door open for us. He stayed with us for our entire dining experience and was friendly, super helpful, and professional. The ambiance was neat, clean, authentic, not pretentious - just like you would expect from your abuelita. Next, the food: Again, oh my goodness!! Fresh, flavorful, high quality, prepared with love. The Guacamole was as good as I have had, anywhere - fresh, complex, full of flavor. The Esquites were delightful- fresh off the cob, richly flavored and with a perfect amount of Mexican cheese - a little like elote but with less effort required. Our entrees included papas con raja's, chicken fajitas, and pescado a la diabla. Everything was superb and uniquely flavorful, each giving us a fun surprise. Did I say "fresh" yet? The sautéed vegetables were soooo fresh, hand cut, and cooked to perfection - sweet onions that pop with flavor upon every bite. Oh yeah, the rice and Mayacoba beans - these are not an afterthought to be ignored. They are fresh, highest quality, richly flavorful, and the best I have had. The flan was chilled to perfection, creamy, smooth, and definitely did not disappoint! Finally: we were so impressed that we just had to meet Marcos the proprietor and Julio the chef - so Omar obliged and there they were, at our table! You could see in their eyes how much they love what they do, and you could feel in their handshakes that they are artisans from another world. We wanted to try the new Mexican place in town. Sorry we did. I hate to give it 2 stars but I have no choice. I ordered chicken enchiladas. The enchilada sauce looked and tasted like tomato sauce, the beans and rice were lacking in flavor, it was an absolute fail. Boyfriend had a shrimp quesadilla. It smelled super fishy and had no flavor either. Best part of the dish was the tiny bag of chips and guacamole off my bfs plate. This place is way overpriced. They have a fancy menu and terrible food. Don't waste your time or money. There are two other places in Cloverdale that are much much better. read more

That would be a complete dinner of 4 Chicken Flautas WITH beans, rice and a portion of guacamole, sour cream, Pico de gallo and some lettuce. I also received some homemade tortilla chips with 2 different salsas. One was similar to a sweet oil and salsa dip and I really liked it. The other was a more traditional salsa and that was also delicious. Ultimately, I give El Milagro 5 stars and will send people their way. I will definitely be a return customer. read more

Finally made it... Great menu and service on a Saturday night. We were greeted quickly and were advised of the daily specials. (What...? daily specials?) Almost unheard of in this setting. Tried the shrimp tacos...fantastic tasting and presentation. Grilled Chicken Taco Salad was fresh, beautiful and large, tasted great. Fresh, chunky, plentiful, guacamole appetizer with a little spicey kick served with homemade thicker chips for dipping was outstanding.. Carne Asada tacos were perfect. Everything came to the table looking great. Lots of imagination going on with the menu. This is not your regular "kitchen chair" style Mexican restaurant with little to no imagination. We sat outside which was ok. Lot's of noisy local traffic. Inside looks reasonable for an older historic, local eatery...but the food is where El Milagro shines along with the service. Their menu and presentation could sit well within a white tablecloth type setting on hardwood tables. Congratulations! Someone has finally done a Mexican menu that is not your standard, same old stuff with the same old canned flavors. read more

El Milagro never misses. I love the part of the menu that features dishes from the Yucatán part of Mexico. The Sunday brunch is also very good and interesting, as well as their daily specials (the tacos gobernador and clam chowder are two of my faves). Just had an amazing lunch sitting outside on their patio. Authentic central Mexican cuisine of the highest quality - fresh, delicious, a cut above. We had chicken mole tacos and scallop and shrimp salad. Plus wonderful friendly service. They are dog friendly and brought our boy fresh water. We came on a cold Sunday and we're quickly greeted, the waiter immediately grabbed the propane heater and put it right next to us, most places we have to ask multiple times. We shared the pazole and it was SO good! The meat was falling off the bone and the broth had so much flavor! He also brought us out some spicy sauce to put on it and idk what it was but it was so delicious we asked for some to go! At the end he brought out a cake on the house, the chefs wife makes all their desserts. It was light and creamy with some strawberry sauce and the perfect end to our meal. I'm from San Francisco and we are plenty of Mexican food, but they aren't really great anymore, is more like fast food now, that's why I preferred to drove almost 2 hours to come here and enjoy a real Mexican food, carnitas are just great and tortas de pollo are amazing just like my mom's recipe. By the way the service is pretty good and friendly, Omar was great. Thanks for keep the grandma's recipes and take care of our Mexican cuisine, I'll be back in my next day off . My daughter and I went for lunch there and we ordered two plates off the dinner menu. I was taken aback by how tiny the portions were. I thought they brought us children's plates. Mexican food is by far the cheapest to make and between my plate and her's probably cost about 6 dollars total. The bill was a little over 60 dollars. Pretty disappointed. read more

This restaurant was very nostalgic for me. I used to come here when I was a kid with my grandparents. Back when it was the Owl Cafe. I was a bit skeptical seeing it become a Mexican restaurant. When I met Marcos, the owner, was amazing and had a very warm welcome. The food was some of the best Mexican food I had in a long time.
