I have always found the food to be very good. I always get take out so the ambience isn't a factor. It may not be the best Mexican in Sonoma County, is the only reason why I wouldn't give it 5 stars, but I do enjoy the chicken enchiladas and tacos, and order food there on a fairly regular basis. read more

One of the worst meals I've had in a while. The beef fajitas were so thin and dry. The burritos had very little meat in them, they were all rice. The servers never come ask if you want more water or another beer or more chips, constantly having to look for them and ask them to come over. read more

Looking for some Mexican food for our 1 night stay at the Campground. Not sure why the bad reviews, but the service and the food were both amazing here! The "sampler platter" gave a little taste of everything, the hubby LOVED the Camarones Al Mojo de ajo and his sangria margarita (don't forget the tajin)! I'm so torn on this one. The food itself was delicious. Seriously. All the flavors were there... the ones you look for whenever you go to a Mexican place that often are absent in other parts of the country. So why the 3 stars? Unfortunately most of the order was put together wrong. :/ I ordered a large side of rice and refried beans with no cheese, side of sour cream, pico de gallo, flour tortillas, and chips and salsa. The only things that were in the bag when I checked it out at the car? Beans and rice in two separate little boxes instead of the big container they said they would use (this made it harder/messier to eat in the car) and chips and salsa. Most of the sides were missing and there was cheese on all the beans. They gave me my tortillas, sour cream, and pico when I went back, and removed the cheese, but I was honestly really glad I checked before driving off. read more

It has been 24 hours and I'm still dreaming of my carne asada taco salad. My daughter loved her enchiladas. And then there were that salsas presented when we sat down. The bean dip was sensational. I have not had tomatillo salsa like the one they had since the San Francisco days of Parilla Suiza in the 80s. It was phenomenal. All of the salsas...just fantastic. If you're a fan of grease head on down to Ray's Food Place and plop down next door for a big ole platter of grease. No need to ask for extra. They are very generous with their grease. No skimping here. You might leave here thinking you escaped the grease trap but about six hours later your stomach will cramp intensely for about ten minutes while the grease slides through your intensities. Thank goodness it doesn't make you erupt but you'll be wishing you could so the pain would stop. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of grease all over my tacos. Also, I prefer my carnitas to be crispy and my lengua to not have weird jiggly chunks. When I pass through Cloverdale next time I'll leave the grease for others to slip and slide through. read more

Outrageous! Delicious! Gracious hosts serving scrumptious food. We seriously cannot finish the burrito we are sharing because, the tortilla soup is huge, flavorful .... full of chicken, tortilla strips, avocado, sour cream, cheese and incredible broth. It a generous order. I think the largest I've ever had. The service is so great too. They refilled our chips (homemade) and salsa snd bean dip which are all gratis. It's worth a drive to Cloverdale just for the soup, We had mole burrito. It was a sweet, rich and flavorful mole....Reminded of our mole in Oaxaca . We love Mexican food . So while visiting family last night "my family friend " recommended El Molcajete. She was highly recommending this business for the Camarones ala Diabla. So we decided to give it a try as I have never had their food before. We ordered Camarones ala Diabla 4 at entries ($73.00)and A Burrito, 12 tacos, there was a hair on one of the Camarones Entry. Sadly to say I was very disappointed. The Camarones were not spicy at all, when I mention it to my friend she did call to see if we could have the camarones entry replace for spicy and to let them know there was hair on one of the entry's, I mean who want to eat camarones with hair on them. She did call to let the restaurant know to which the person on the other end was extremely rude. She said she had been working since 10Am and did not have time to listen to her complaint about the food. Her head hurt and that all she could do is offer her to come back for more salsa to which my friend said she lives 15 minutes away from the restaurant to drive just for more salsa. She asked to speak to the manager or supervisor and she denied her to speak to either one of them, Honestly I have never heard of anyone being so disrespected by a business before. After insisting on speaking with someone in charge she said that she was the owner of the business. Do not know if this is in fact true but if that's the case it's sad to see that she doesn't care about the quality or reputation of her business or to loose her as a frequent customer. All We wanted was for them to replace our order, which was not offer at any point. I for one will not be ordering or visiting this business with my family. One super burrito with shredded chicken will cost $12.57 with tax. The size nor the flavor reflected the high price for a take out taqueria located in the corner of a shopping center. Note to owners: if you're going to charge $11.50 for a super burrito, it should be perfectly flavored and be large enough for left overs. The beans, rice, & shredded chicken were all cooked well but very mildly flavored. The cheese was possibly missing and the sour & guac were light. We have been here in the past on our way north and usually had nothing but praise. Not sure what changed, but something definitely has. Staff was preoccupied on their cell phones, service was bad. Food also has declined both in quantity and quality. We both also felt it wasn't very clean, bathrooms were gross, floors were dirty, and tables felt grimy. Tried this for the first time. So good! Service was fast, too. Made some adjustments for our food preferences without complaint or extra charges. Food was really good. We had basic/standard selections, but the menu has some options not found in every taco joint. Pics of the son and DIL burritos - was about a buck more that the regular burrito and they each took home enough for a second meal. My husband had enchiladas in mole - was a good mole-- rather on the sweeter side. I had taco salad. We enjoyed it. Overall, a good meal out with good service in a pleasant setting. Awful service. I ordered my food, and proceeded to wait 45 minutes, being completely ignored. I finally went up to the counter (I was sitting directly in front of them, by the way; I wasn't tucked in some corner) to be told that they had a "computer issue," and my order hadn't even been entered. Okay, fine, these things happen. But, did you even care to notice that the woman sitting directly, and I mean DIRECTLY, in front of you hasn't been served? And it obviously didn't cross your mind to check on her and make sure she wasn't one of the customers whose order had an issue?! I get that glitches happen, but it was the utter lack of service that sealed it for me. I left without having them re-enter my order, and I won't be back. read more
