Came to grab lunch today after being here 2-3 times previously for breakfast (mangu). Unfortunately, my opinion on this place changed significantly. I ordered a lunch special of rice, chicken stew, and Maduros. The yellow rice was flavorless, my chicken looked dry and reheated (mind you, chicken stew should have broth...), and they gave me 2 maduros. I paid $12 with a can of soda. Once you pay, the ladies stand and stare at you until you tip. My food was to-go, but I still have the lady who served me a $2 tip. I sat and my car and observed as they did the same thing to every other person. This place has a lot of potential! They have parking and are on a busy street surrounded by a predominantly Latino community... but a lot of things need to get fixed. They need better service, more consistency with food flavor, and they need to reevaluate their portions. read more

My friend told me about this restaurants opening and i was excited to go to their location as i am a fan of buffet style restaurants like this. At first glance you can see that the location is new inside and out. They have a small parking lot but that is better than most establishments in the area so that's a plus. Inside is nice and new with space for about 6 small tables. Buffet looked promising as there were a lot of selections but most of the food looked a bit dry. Regardless i went with the yellow rice with beans and beef stew to go. The stew came in a very small container and the rice came in a container 3 times that size. Weird portioning. As i was checking out the total was $12 - pretty pricing for the size and what i'm used to from these type of buffet styled restaurants. I got home hoping for the best but honestly the rice had no flavor and the stew was extremely full of fat. I probably would not come back again - i rather go down a few blocks to Mi Tierra that has much tastier food in well portioned sizes at half the price. read more

There were 4 staff members when I entered, not one greeted me or took my order until I spoke up...mind you the place was empty! Food is subpar. She prepares my order puts it in a bag rings me up gives me my receipt and a pen and walks away to stand next to her friend who was also behind the counter. I went in for my first time on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty packed. I decided to do takeout and ordered bistec con tostones with a morir soñado. The total wait time was about 30-45 mins for my simple order and came out to $19.. Once I got home to eat my food I noticed they put the salad over my steak rather than putting it in a separate container.. When I took my first piece of steak it tasted like I was eating salt. It was so salty I had to return back to the restaurant. I spoke to the owner mainly because I was starving and was highly disappointed with my food after waiting over 30 mins for it. They made me a new steak and gave me fresh tostones. It wasn't the best steak I've ever had but I guess at least it wasn't salty. read more

I'm from NY and recently moved to Belleville. I was missing the small Latin restaurants from NY so was excited to find this place. The first time I went my friend and I ordered the pernil, yuca, rice and beans and bacalao, all was fantastic. I've been back twice and have had the sancocho and the baked chicken. I came on a Saturday night at almost 8pm and there were 7 girls but a lack of service and availability in food. It took about 30 minutes to get served in a buffet style restaurant. They kept saying they ran out and had to check if they had more in the back. The service was HORRIBLE. However, the ladies were extremely kind and tried their very best but it seems as if they were all just hired and clueless. I asked simple questions and they had to run to other people to find the answers. The food was delicious. I ordered yellow rice, beans, and yucca. I stopped in here last night to buy some food for my mom. A bunch of trays were completely filled up still and it was already 7:30 pm. My mom asked how much a plate of arroz moro, black beans, and a pork chop would cost. However, the lady behind the counter said she couldn't buy black beans because it already came in the rice? She had a bad attitude, but it was such a strange response. Both trays were full and hardly any customers were there. I don't understand how someone could refuse to sell them food when they could obviously benefit from their business. We simply said "ok no problem" and left. Was a bit skeptical after reading reviews but came in for a quick bite. Ordered 2 empanadas and a soda. Both empanadas where delicious and typical in flavor which made me happy. I preferred the chicken to the beef but that is just me and my personal preference. The service was quick just not a fan of the checkout girls being on thier phones. Kind of a lackluster experience, which was a letdown since the menu options have so much promise. I ordered a cuban sandwich, but I don't think this place knows what the contents are-one would expect the key ingredients:ham, pork, swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles. What they brought out was a sandwich with pork chunks, a scarce amount of lettuce and tomato, and american cheese. When I mentioned this to our waiter he looked like we sprouted 2 heads, and seemed overall annoyed in general. A friend introduced me to this place and I was excited as I love Dominican food but I was disappointed the few times I've been there and things have not improved. The customer service is lacking in a very big way as the ladies just seem to walk be walking around looking busy but I have no idea what they're doing as other customers are just standing around also. When I finally get assitance, the ladies don't speak English or barely speak English. That's sad as we non Spanish people do love and enjoy ethnic food. Unless you go early in the day for breakfast or lunch, the food in the trays usually look dry. I love chicharron but there needs to be a sauce of some kind to cut through the fat; they serve it with ketchup and some kind of mayonnaise sauce. I had white rice (arroz), beans (habichuela) and stewed chicken (pollo guisado) and it had a lot of flavor, also had the mofongo con ajillo (smashed plantain w/ garlic) w/ fried chicken bits (chicharron de pollo) and it was absolutely delicious!!!! So glad I can find my Spanish Caribbean food close to home, all I need now is a beach and a corona! read more

Ordered delivery from this brand new spot and was very disappointed. They have lots of food to choose from on their menu, I had the combo 1, which included White rice, sweet plantains, beef and chicken. The rice and sweet plantains were cooked really well, however, the beef and chicken were extremely dry and unappetizing. I believe this was because the meal was not cooked to order. I plan on giving this place another shot by eating in at there location. Will update my review in the future. read more
