Lunch special number one. Chili relleno, guacamole salad, substitute bean taco.

This was a stop over traveling through on the interstate. What a great great Mexican restaurant. Wish I were local. The decor was fantastic, service was great, and the food was equally as good. The place was very clean, well located, and seem to be run very well.

Shrimp Tacos

I've been here a handful of times over the past few years. Most recently I went this past weekend. We got a large order of queso, to have with our chips and salsa. It is definitely a generous portion and was more than enough for the two of us! I ordered the shrimp tacos for my entree. They were filling and had good flavor. The side of rice was kinda bland. Service overall was good. We went around 1pm on Sunday, so it wasn't very crowded. It did take a while to pay the check because our waiter disappeared for a bit, but we weren't in a hurry to leave, so it worked out.

We had dinner here before seeing a comedy show nearby. While the service was fine - we found the food to be fairly bland. The standard Chips & Salsa were brought out after we were seated. It was pretty good. The chips & salsa tasted fresh and the salsa had a nice little kick to it. My husband and his friend both ordered a beer, I ordered a bourbon. For our entrees - I ordered the Shrimp Tacos, my husband ordered the Camarones Diabla and his friend ordered the Burrito Lover. All of us had shrimp in our dishes and found that the shrimp were large and cooked perfectly. But everything just lacked flavor. And my husband's dish should've been quite spicy and it had barely any heat to it. My shrimp tacos were ok but fairly flavorless. Overall - the service was fine and the food was just ok. I wouldn't seek this place out if I was in the area.

Steak fajita, small $19.99 p/t & spicy 4 meat fajita $21.99... not worth the $$

It's definitely not authentic!! And honestly not worth the price. The waiter was a dick. More like a chain restaurant but def not authentic Mexican food at all!

As someone from California, I'm a pretty tough critic when it comes to Mexican food. However, all things considered, El Mariachi is pretty good. Obviously, it's not authentic or anything like that, but it tastes good, the service is good, and the decor is cute. I wouldn't be a regular here, but I'd come back again.

Pomegranate margarita special

Boy as soon as you walk in friendly staff is there to greet you. This small Resturant is so cute on the inside. The decor and seating layout is very thoughtful for a private dining experience. In the summer they have a lot of out door seating as well. Today I tried the pomegranate Margarita on special. Welp, it was different and good but I still love my favorite lime Margarita. And I might add it was very tasty, a little heavy on the sweet side. The food was delicious and the portions were large. I'm thankful for my waiters tip. I usually order the Chicken Chimichanga, but he recommended the deluxe. It has chicken, shrimp and more. Its my new favorite! For a pleasant evening and delicious food in large portions I highly recommend El Mariachi.

Decent Mexican food and a nice atmosphere. I would recommend the tacos and a light beer to wash it down with.

Valle Escondido's Mexican Restaurant

We enjoy Mexican food and there are many Mexican restaurants very nearby. We live on the West side, so when I learned about Valle Escondido I knew we had to give it a try. We arrived about 30 minutes after they opened on a Saturday. The place was pretty empty. Chips and salsa were brought to the table. Nothing too extraordinary here. I knew what I wanted and Mark figured out what he wanted pretty quickly. Our server asked if we wanted the lunch version of the burritos we ordered. We said, "Nope" because we wanted the full meal. When the burritos arrived we were a bit surprised at the size. The burritos were HUGE! I couldn't even come close to finishing. Our meals served for both lunch and dinner, which made them a bit of a deal. I ordered the Burrito Ranchero - filled with steak, chicken, onions, and beans. Topped with chorizo, corn, pineapple, and grilled shrimp, and topped with cheese sauce. I saw pictures of this masterful burrito on yelp and knew I had to have it. Wow, it was fantastic! The beef and chicken were spiced beautifully. The shrimp was very tasty and I appreciated them being free of tails. Corn, pineapple, chorizo and a very light cheese sauce elevated the flavor above most burritos I've had elsewhere. Mark had the Burrito Mexicano - one large burrito filled with grilled chicken strip or steak cooked with onions and stuffed with lettuce, avocado, and pico de gallo. Topped with our three special sauces: green, white and red. Served with rice. He ordered jalapeños and boy he got what he asked for! He got a big bunch of jalapeños for $1.50. He also asked for hot sauce. Our server asked if he wanted the house made hot sauce. Well, of course! One... it was HOT! But Mark likes hot. I had to try it with a tortilla chip, just a little bit. It was flavorful and it was hot. If you like heat, most definitely order the house made hot sauce. It was beautiful and quite good. While we were eating the place filled up a bit. It's a huge place and I imagine later in the evening every table it full. It should be because the food is really great. Mark and I have a favorite Mexican restaurant that is much closer, but we both decided we'd come back to Valle Escondido without hesitation. If you haven't been here you need to check it out. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The bartender seemed like he didn't want to be there so his attitude lost a star for me. Ambiance was great! They had good music playing and the place felt lively. I would dine here again. Also, come HUNGRY because this place will FEED you for sure.

Two of us are vegetarian and there weren't really any vegetarian options on the menu. We ordered quesadillas with no meat expecting plain cheese quesadillas, but we were pleasantly surprised to find them filled with flavorful grilled vegetables. Yes, the interior was warm and comfortably-decorated, but it was the food that blew me away! I ordered chicken empanadas, and they turned out to be flaky pastries -- not too thick on the outside, and packed with well-seasoned flavorful chicken on the inside. The sope al pastor surprised me also -- the cornmeal disks were delicate on the inside and just-crisp-enough on the outside -- and then piled high with al pastor (pork), avocado slices, and other toppings. But is was the elote that was the real surprise -- it's usually been served to me as cut-off kernels in a bowl. But here they gave me the whole ear of corn -- and it was sweet, tender, and freshly cooked -- a little taste of summer on this freezing day. And then they topped it with the elote spices -- decorative squirts of mayo, chili sauce, and other seasonings. I could not stop eating it and immediately wanted another. All told, it was amazing, fresh, well-seasoned food made with love - and a little chili sauce!!

Vallarta Mexican Seafood…read more All the vibes of a Mexican Pacific Coast restaurant. Finally persuaded my 100% Italian wife to visit Vallarta Mexican Seafood, and she loves this place. Caveat: Vallarta Mexican Seafood is several rungs above the average Tex-Mex joint in the Greater Dayton Metropolitan Area. We really enjoy Sonora Grill Seafood Steak Bar & Grill, and Vallarta Mexican Seafood merits special attention as well. On our radar: La Poblanita Mexican Market and restaurant. A note on stars; Sonora Grille is on Burkhardt, and in a small strip mall; I am not inclined to award a strip mall restaurant 5 stars; however.... Vallarta Mexican Seafoodis also in a small strip mall with plenty of free parking. Folks inclined to visit and dine at The Greene might go west to visit Vallarta Mexican Seafood.
