I love this food truck! They come to my neighborhood all the time but in the past I have gone on a stake out to find them, searching all the food truck Instagrams and local locations! Absolutely everything is delicious so I'm just going to give you guys a list of my favorites. The pastor tacos- BOMB! (I also like the asada but the pastor is just next level to me.) The chicken tinga tostadas- HOLY CRAP! I could eat like 6 if they wouldn't get soggy in the meantime haha. The ELOTE!! Need I say more? Who doesn't love elote? Their salsas are delicious. Came here a few nights ago with my boyfriend because our neighborhood was having a food truck night! Let me be honest and say I was far from impressed, especially with the prices. The prices on the truck were written with dry erase marker... (this leads us to believe that they change the prices based on the neighborhood/area they are in). I ordered a asada burrito. The burrito was okay, pretty tasteless and there wasn't as much steak as I had hoped for paying $13. My boyfriend ordered the special which was a Carnitas plate. There were huge chunks of meat that hadn't been cut like the other pieces and his beans were so watered down they didnt even have the correct refried beans consistency. He paid $12 for his and wasn't impressed either. Also, the meals came with tortilla chips that look and taste like they came out of a Walmart bag. And the salsa that came with it was very strange and such a little portion that we didn't have enough for our Walmart chips... I will say that the people who own the truck were very kind and we didn't have to wait very long... maybe 10 minutes. read more

My job likes to host food trucks in their parking lot. Normally more than one. I picked Mexican...because Mexican is always my #1 choice. Unfortunately they let me down. I was hoping to have some yummy nachos but no so. I ordered the Carne Asada Nachos. You know how you can have someone recipe and make it and then it really doesn't taste the same as the person who normally makes it? Well, that is what happened here. $10 nachos had subpar ingredients, store bought tortilla chips were stale. I wished I took a picture. I won't give up in Mexican but not a fan of this truck. Regarding their service, my friend ordered from one other truck next to it and wanted to order a single taco to try. The staff would not sell a single order. Oh, I'm surprised how low this is rated. That probably doesn't sound convincing when I only gave it 3 stars, and....you are kind of right. I'm easy to please, so I was planning to give this four stars until they messed up my nachos. That is, right before they were going to hand me my food, I think they noticed something wrong with my box or something. So this dude just went, '**** it, it's just nachos.' He picks up the whole thing and flips it upside down on to another box. Epic. This immediately resulted in most of the steak and sauce being at the bottom of my new box, under the nachos. Quite unfortunate. Seriously though, I thought the food here was not bad, at least average. I've already had worse food trucks than this in Jax. I love me some Mexican food and in all a out the street food but this was very dissappointing.(I'm from Texas so I know a good taco truck but this one was not it. Paid $13.38 for a Mexican corn which was corn on the cob with some cheese on it and 3 tiny tacos no pica no salsa no nada. They had no beans and it was 12pm at the beginning of lunch. I'm giving them three stars for the corn only Which should be five stars! It was the best street corn I've eaten so far. If you see them around your area, go try their corn! Now for the papusas! I've had papusas and what they served was nothing like what I had before. The price was $7.00 and was not worth it. Now this is why they are not rated higher than three stars. The papusas were dry and the cabbage and carrots garnish was also dry and why did they add dry tortillas chips to the mix? That made it worse! I looked at the photos before going and they advertised hand made corn tortillas and the option to order a la carte tacos. They wouldn't let me order just 2 tacos, so I had to order 3. The rice and beans were nice but the tacos had lots of flavor plus I put some of their fresh verde sauce which had just a hint of spice/heat which made for a great lunch that didn't take long to grab. Oh... and speaking of chips; very dense vs light and crispy; the cheese was a dried version, versus a fresh queso fresco or cotija, as one would expect with "authentic" Mexican cuisine. Definitely better taco trucks around town. My go to tacos are steak, onion, cilantro & lime on soft corn. Steak was sweet, their soft corn tortillas were gross, hardly any onions/cilantro and there was no lime. Rice and beans were good i guess. Their tortilla chips were like the kind you get in nachos from the movies. $11 bucks for 3 tacos, a soda, rice/beans and tortilla chips. Easily the pork carnitas taco might be my favorite taco in I have had and I eat a lot of tacos. Put their hot sauce on it and it's amazing. Terribly unimpressed. My wife brought me to the downtown food court because of my love for taco and specifically Mexican Street Food. I got the chicken tacos and she ordered the shrimp tacos. The styrofoam containers were light when we got our food. As in, it was a little windy and they wanted to take flight off of the picnic table. Inside each were three tiny tacos. The chicken is drowned some tomato based sauce that provides more wetness than flavor. Zero spice...not as in not enough for my liking...as in none. Chicken, spaghetti sauce, and cheese. The wife's had a spicy slaw on the shrimp and it was VERY spicy. I felt like Goldilocks lacking that just right amount of heat. Other than the spice, no flavor here either. For $22 I didn't expect for us to walk away and be hungry again in 30 minutes. Some improvement needed. read more

I work downtown and visited this food truck a day ago while taking a break for lunch with a co-worker. I was happy to see a taco truck, however, I was not pleased with the tacos. For $10, I purchased 3 tacos, rice and beans. Now to keep things in perspective, this is lunch, so I do not expect nor want a feast. I will say though that I received the smallest three tacos that I have literally ever purchased or ate. When my order was ready, I thought that I was given the incorrect order because the container that lunch was in was so light. The rice and beans were equally as small and left much to be desired. My female co-worker was also very displeased. For the high price and small quantities, my hope was that the taste and bold Mexican flavor that I'm accustomed to would make the high prices more acceptable. This was not the case in the least. Everything was extremely bland and uninspiring. Unfortunately, even if the price was $4-$5 cheaper, I still would not order again. With so many food options nearby at the Landing and now with the downtown foodcourt where there is anywhere from 3-5 trucks daily; high prices, small portions and bland food is something that will not thrive. I hope this review helps someones as I aim to be fair and accurate. It wasn't easy writing this kind of review as I believe in supporting small/locally owned businesses. It's their second month out and I'm just trying them. Man I'm losing my touch. I saw that this truck was making it's first appearance at the food court so what the heck. I moved my schedule around a little and stopped in. I was met by one of the guys. I'm not sure of his name but then I'm not sure he could understand me very well either. I went in for their tacos with beans and rice. For my tacos I went in for the pork and chicken and a chorizo. First off the tacos are even smaller then you get at Taco lu. They are maybe 3" round with a small amount of meat on each one. The chicken which was shredded for max uses had a little cheese join it and thats it. The chicken really didn't have any flavor either. The pork you could tell it was pork but again not a lot of flavor. So onward to the chorizo. It had good color but again not much flavor. I could taste the cilantro that was sprinkled on top. Now the truck is brightly colored with a big skull dude in a big sombrero on. Other then that that was about the highlight of the meal. These guys have to work on some things like adding some bolder flavors to their menu. There are quite few better trucks out there serving Mexican food. read more

This was most fat filled meal I have ever ordered. Ever. Not just marbled fat like you would find in ribs. These were big chunks of fat. Maybe a third of the carnitas was actually pure fat.
