Have enjoyed going and had good food but last couple times while eating they starting cleaning (cleaning good) but their chemicals in cleanser is completely overwhelming !!! went again and it was worse, maybe where we sat tonight was worse but I couldn't even eat anything. El Lago Mexican restaurant is it it has been one of my favorite places to eat. I will always forever love this place plus I don't know how they do it but they get the food out so quickly. The prices are great. The food is good. The service is amazing as we never wait to be seated even when it's busy. The building is huge, allowing space between tables and privacy. They don't have offensive things on the TVs. You order and almost immediatly get the food. Its hot, fresh, and consistent. Never have we ordered and gotten a new version of something we ordered last week. I hope that it stays just as it is. read more

This place has flavorful salsa (very important), yummy food and tasty margaritas. The place is huge, so you could really host a party there. Branson has a lot of food choices, but many of those are bland (or worse), but we made this our go-to place when we visit Branson from the first time we ate at El Lago. I can't wait to get back. First off sooo much food. The food is tasty the chips are amazing and the service was great. We are pretty big eaters And could not finish our food. I personally like my salsa a little spicier but the taste was very good. We will be back next time we are in town. read more

We have been to El Lago in Branson West many times and it is really good but this is the first time at the newer location in Branson on 248. It is very large and open concept inside the restaurant so lots of room. As usual they brought out their complimentary homemade tortilla chips and salsa which never disappoints. My waiter saw that I like really hot and spicy sauce so he brought me a hotter salsa and it was both hot and delicious, that was nice of him. I ordered the chicken fajitas which comes out sizzling and steaming hot. You get good portions. It also came with a side dish of refried beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream, shredded lettuce and pico. I put a little of the fresh homemade salsa on my fajitas and it was amazing. My wife and daughter enjoyed their meals as well. The service is fast and friendly. The restaurant is a big place inside which will serve a lot of customers, it's not too far off the highway and plenty of parking. If you are a tourist looking for a good Mexican restaurant that is reasonably priced this is your place for sure. We will return. read more

We tried El Lago for the first time and came away less than impressed. Here's a few observations on things and what we didn't like: 1. Friendliness: we did not find the staff we interacted with to be friendly. 2. Food: I did not find the meat to be good. Frankly, I enjoy what I make at home better. The salsa was just okay. 3. Food presentation: I'm not sure why you would lay out four tacos on the plate and cover them with cold cheese. The food was salty. I had the Birra tacos and they were very good. The green sauce they served with it was the best part of dinner but he didn't understand when I asked what it was. I've been meaning to try El Lagos new location since I enjoy the one in Branson West. The WHOLE Entire Experience Was Awesome From the time we walked in the door. This new location is huge and All the servers work together to get it done! Plenty of parking, Our service was Top Notch(and they were super busy), the location is clean and the FOOD.... Food was good. When we received our bill for $70 there were two additional charges added to the $70 one for $7 and one for $10. I thought they tacked on gratuity. When I questioned it I was told that there was a Branson tax. I did't think much of it, but I looked up the tax rate and there is no way the full tax was $17. Buyer beware at this place. UPDATE - they just responded to me and proved my point 17 divided by 70 is 24%. They absolutely don't know what they are doing when it comes to billing. read more

This location is fairly new, around a year or less, and not the Branson West restaurant. We were eager to try a new Mexican restaurant even though there are so many choices in the area. The one thing you'll notice is that it is huge! The biggest Tex-Mex restaurant I've ever visited. But that is about the only thing that impressed me. The chips - bland and the salsa was more like a garlic marinara sauce. You should put your best foot forward when setting out the appetizer. Perhaps it was a harbinger of things to come. My dish, a kind of burrito with chicken and beans with a Mexican style on the side came out rather quickly. Uh oh. The salad was awful mainly for the fact that they had washed the lettuce and tomatoes in an anti-oxidant wash- commonly known as chlorine - and that is how it tasted. Non -edible. The folded tortilla with 3 fillings was fair but the chicken was stringy and overcooked. In fairness, my wife had a dish that was more like a Cracker Barrel chicken, broccoli, cauliflower, and cheese and she said it was good. But - not enough to offset my disappointing meal. With so many good choices, I'd skip this place. read more
