This is a counter service, "create your own plate" type of style restaurant. There's no waitstaff…read more You basically point to the food you want and someone behind the counter gets it for you. Ample number of choices - Including, but not limited to White rice, rice and beans, beef, chicken, yuca, Madurai's, etc .There's also a small salad bar. The portions are very generous. The prices are very reasonable/affordable. There's a parking lot across from the restaurant and space is usually never an issue. The restaurant was recently renovated. Good for eating in or take out. CASH ONLY. There's an ATM in the restaurant. Give it 5 stars because of the generous portions, low prices, friendly staff, quick service and good tasting food.

We chose sweet plantains, and potato salad for our sides. And to drink, passion fruit juice and lemonade. The total came out to around $45, which I found average for the serving size. The jugos are SO delicious. The passion fruit was refreshing and packed with strong sweet flavors, and the lemonade was just as good. The beef guisada was tender, flavorful, and perfectly saucy, and it paired so well with the spices in the rice and peas. The potato balls? To die for. Crispy on the outside, flavorful meat and soft potato insides. Easily one of my favorite things we ordered. Overall, I was really happy I decided to give Celia's another try. The food was flavorful, nostalgic and comforting.

Take me back to Providence, Rhode Island. This restaurant just made its way to my Top 10 favorite…read morerestaurants and yes, I will travel 3000 miles for their food! We were hungry then found this place while we were looking for a place to eat. Totally unplanned, just wanted to get a bite to eat. This restaurant is located on Broad St (busy street) next to McDonald's, Dunkin Donuts, and other places to eat. I'm so glad we walked into this establishment. My boyfriend and his younger brothers are Puerto Rican. They asked me if I've ever tried Mofongo. I've always wanted to try it, so I ordered the Mofongo with chicharron. Best decision ever. What it is, is mushed up plaintains mixed with Pernil (Puerto Rican slow roasted pork). Then topped off with chicharrones. It also came with a red sauce (not spicy) and a white sauce. It was so good: The ladies working there at the time were very friendly too. There is a bathroom inside for customers only and a lot of tables to sit. You just sit yourself. Can't wait to come back to Providence just for this restaurant. I'm hooked!

Ordered the Picadera for 2: decent variety for the price but we got the reject ends and tiny pieces…read moreof salami. Miniscule pieces of queso Frito. I wouldn't order it again, it was just ok. Tostones could have been better, def needed a harder fry and salt. Rice and habichuelas really good. Salad was bare minimum and was cabbage, tomato and cucumbers. Really enjoyed the Pernil compared to other Hispanic takeouts I've had, flavorful and not dry. Their Chicken al horno was good too.

We came to Pito's after having gone to La Gran Parada. I figured I'd try it since Yelp reviewers…read morewere comparing them. I liked them both. I thought the food was comparable. The main differences were; 1. While they are both cafeteria style, Pito's is a lot less crowded (mainly because they are a lot faster) 2. La Gran Parada has been remodeled and has a nice and big dining room. Pito's is more like a shabby little pizza joint 3. Pito's is cheaper (although they are both cheap). Ox tails in particular were cheaper. 4. La Gran Parada has more choices 5 Pito's only has street parking I think We tried the ox tails (rabo), pig's ears, stewed chicken and fried bananas with both white and yellow rice. It was all very good. Pig's ears is an acquired taste (actually more of an acquired texture as the sauce is what gives it taste). It is "blubbery" like tripe but can also be a bit grissly. It's definitely different but I liked it-maybe not enough to order it again though. Next time I want to try the chicharron which I love and compare it with La Gran Parada which was very good.

Once again they are a bit stingy for the meat to rice ratio but was still good. **Note: only place I have been able to get wasakaka sauce which I love to have with fried meats. You get a small side cup for .50. They need to fill it up more tho as it's only 1/3 full. Love the flavor on it, it's citrus-y, vinegar-y, salty and just adds some more bang to the flavors!

We are very blessed . . …read more That our area of Southeastern Connecticut has such a large Puerto Rican population - - or we may have never tasted the wonderful food that this restaurant offers. One of the best, if not THE VERY BEST, restaurants in the local area. My only concerns: 1) I didn't see a bathroom, but I didn't need one ‍; 2) we could have used a knife for the pork stick, but we should have asked. The staff is extremely helpful. Wonderful designs, with lots of inspiration. Now for the food: - Chicken Steam Plate: Chicken leg, rice & beans, fried plantain pieces. Chicken super moist, rice was outstanding, & plantains were very tasty. - Beef Stew: very good, similar to Filipino Beef Mechado. - Pork Stick: great tasting pork - - for me, I would have liked a bit more "fatty" on my stick, but it was really meaty!!! - Beans were nicely done. - Smashed Plantains were served with 1000 Island dressing: probably just as good without the dressing. - Ground Beef Empanada: good, a bit of vegetables would have put it over the top (potatoes, onions, carrots, peas) - - but that's there style. - Chicken Empanada: ok, a bit salty for us. Enjoy!!!!!
