Food is good .. especially their mofongo and tostones.. just not too crazy about their meat, a little on the chewy side

I've lived in the area all my life and we have our fair share of Dominican/ Puerto Rican restaurants and quick stops here that are great, once a family friend opened up China P.R I cant stop going! It's not everyday you can have mofongo made for you especially paired with comforting Chinese cuisine. It's everything you can think of, super affordable, great taste, everything has definitely been made with a lot of effort. Super fresh nothing can beat it because it's made as soon as you place the order, compared to other Spanish spots in the city where food is just sitting in boilers all day and night. In addition to the great food there's a variety of fresh juices like passionfruit, mango, sometimes guava and sometimes lemonade fused with something else, it's not always the same thing and it's great. Definitely worth the visit because there's NOTHING like this anywhere!

Chicharrón de pollo, tostones con ajo, y arroz chino estilo puertorriqueño. This food was amazing definitely worth going back again.

Ordered: house fried rice, veggie fried rice, sesame chicken, orange chicken, general tso fried tofu, and green beans. Their house fried rice was filled with bbq pork, shrimp, and chicken! Menu has all the usual Moos Goos and Moo Shoes and Kow Pangs, etc. My Hot n' Sour Soup was great. Big-ass portions and drinks are strong and yummy. Drinks are cheap AF and taste awesome and they have American Classics like Jager Bombs and Slammers and Gin Martinis and Tokyo Blasters, etc. As anyone who knows Chinese American the Chow Mein Sammie was invented here in New Bedford/Fall River area. And they got 'em here so they are legit. All phood was scrump AF and this place is a blast to hang out in. Cheap prices and awesome cocktails of all types and great phood and huge portions are what Jade Garden is all about! Peep it out !!! HOT TIP: Chinese American phood pairs great with American Cocktails like Manhattans and Rusty Nails, etc. I usually warm up with a couple Tiki Drinks and then ease into the Rob Roys and Gin Martinis, etc., as the meal progresses. Give it a shot.

Good old school flavor on all. Moist yes; juicy no. Right around average. -- General Tso's Chicken (on a combo): Big pile, big pieces, bumpy and very meaty. Lightly crispy. Sauce fairly light and not bringing much heat to contrast the subdued sweetness. But what an allotment of meat. Average or a bit above. -- Egg Foo Yong (on a combo: Two thick, golden patties flooded with a smooth, tasty brown sauce. Underneath, very dense in pork nuggetry and good tenderness and overall flavor. A pleasure. Near-elite. -- Boneless Spareribs (on a combo): An easy upgrade from the standard crab rangoon for $2.50, these were a respectable stash of flat mini slabs well painted with a dark mahogany glaze. Moist, flexible, and carried to the finish line by some extremely delicious flavor. Well above average to near-elite. If a little more juicy, possibly elite. -- Egg Roll (in a combo): Another upgrade from crab rangoon, totally worth the $1.50. Crisp outside, moist pork and crisp cabbage inside, with noticeable five spice flavor. A little above average. -- Pork Fried Rice (on the combos): A stellar mound of dark, moist grains, with flavor every bit as pronounced as the color. Big chunks of red pork, with bean sprouts and egg chiming in. No onion. Overall, a delicious reminder of the golden age of pork fried rice. Near-elite to elite. Good food, with some of it great, and good value. Excellent service from Wendy, a pro with skills and a great sense of humor. Also nice to see Morgan, the excellent server from my previous visit.

Wah May has been slinging chow mein and other old school Chinese goodies since 1961 from what looks…read morelike a former residence. Surprisingly, no bar. Unsurprisingly, plenty of combination plates. Chow Mein Sandwich: They have several choices for this regional specialty, which can also be had as a chop suey sandwich. Proteins include chicken, beef, mushroom, pork strip, and even shrimp or scallop. I went with chicken. What arrived was a humongous assemblage of thick-cut celery, tender chicken strips, and onions, with crunchy flat noodles interspersed and a thin, dark brown gravy (neither sweet nor salty) underneath. The bun was basically a garnish, so this demanded fork and knife eating. I think of it as a crunchier Chinese version of a hot turkey sandwich, with the bun the least important element but what makes it unique. As chow mein, good flavor and good texture, coming in well above average to near-elite. Shrimp and Lobster Sauce (on a combo): Five shrimp, ever so slightly overdone but serviceable, buried in a faintly sweet sauce with a more potent dark black bean base, with a few swirls of egg white. Scallions on top were more than a garnish, providing a savory counterpoint to the sweetness. Well above average. Egg Roll (on the combo): I have to admit, there are times I'm not fully certain on whether an egg roll filling is celery, cabbage, or a mix. This was NOT one of those times. The celery brigade can rejoice, as this one goes well past "celery forward" and onto "celery in your face," and I'm talking more in your face than an Elaine Benes Christmas card. Dark green, thick chunks, all with some crunch, and fully loaded. Baby shrimp and pork can also be found lurking, but this is all about the dominant celery. The wrapper brought a bit of greasiness (though within tolerance) but a strong, pleasant flavor as well. This unique egg roll bordering on subgum-in-a-shell is an absolute must-try, and I liked it to an extent, but wouldn't want it regularly. It's an acquired taste, so it's tough to score: overall, probably average, but a really fascinating average. Pork Fried Rice: A little dry in spots but dark of color with flavor to match and an acceptable amount of pork, onion, and bean sprouts. Above average. Very enjoyable meal, good food, different food, and a place I'm eager to revisit. Fairhaven is just over the bridge from New Bedford and boasts some stunning works of architecture in its town hall, Millicent Library, and Unitarian Memorial Church, all right around the corner from Wah May and not to be missed if you're into beautiful historical buildings.
