    Waiting on our food.

Oh wow I completely forgot to take the picture of our food but that tells you one thing the food was so damn good and we order to take out so we didn't get a chance to look at the décor of the restaurant but what we saw So Far is just like your local Spanish restaurant with all the Bright Colors decorative to show their heritage with Spanish music playing but the food was the bomb we had the half chicken breast with beans Spanish Rice and my my friend had all the trio with the steak, chicken and shrimp with the Spanish race and it was banging it was banging The Only Thing that I Wish More that they give me More was the chicken and rice on both orders The chicken was basically a slice cut off the actual chicken breast but on the menu its says chicken breast not a slice and the rice was like a kid size rice ummm yeah that threw us off like what?! But nonetheless food was good you can tell Kinuka enjoyed herself and her plate oh yeah we order a small shrimp for Kinuka which she loves! but we'll definitely be back the next time we're on the road. mD

I have wanted to try El Jalisco for a very long time. I'm a huge fan of Mexican cuisine and will give any place a shot. My sister had raved about this place and while out one day I decided to finally give it a try. El Jalisco sits in a plaza that is filled with more medical offices than anything else. It is a bit deceptive from the outside. It looks like it is a lot smaller than it seems from the outside. Once you walk in you can tell that there is a lot of room to accommodate many guests. The decor inside is very festive, everything down to the tables are decorated. After I was seated with menu in hand I was asked for my drink order. They serve Pepsi products, so I went with Sierra Mist. The server went and got my drink and placed it on the table, kept it moving after. Looked at the glass, and even though the lighting is dim in here, I could still tell it was not Sierra Mist in the glass. When I told the server that I asked for Sierra Mist his response was, "Mountain Dew." I'm fairly sure when he took the glass back all he did was empty it and then fill it with Sierra Mist. Not the smartest move, but OK. The menu definitely covers everything you would expect to find in a Mexican restaurant. All the items are authentic. I ended up going with Burritos Deluxe. For me, this was the best route to go, you kind of get to try a bit of everything on this plate. Burritos Deluxe is two burritos on one plate. One is shredded chicken and the other one is ground beef. I can honestly say that the better of the two on the plate was the ground beef. To me the chicken burrito did not have enough flavor to it. It was a bit bland, however the refried beans were really good in the chicken burrito. I did like that it was a bit chunky and the pieces were fairly good size. The ground beef one was very flavorful. This was topped with red sauce, lettuce, sour cream and queso fresco. I did finish the plate in whole, it was good. I then ventured into dessert. I went with the Fried Cheesecake. The cheesecake is inside this pastry dough and then deep fried. Making for a crispy, flaky crust. The cheesecake part was really amazing. What really pulled this all together was the powered sugar, chocolate drizzle, strawberry drizzle, cherry, and whipped cream. The bites were amazing. Things to take note here. Alcohol can be purchased here. When you go to pay, don't be dumb like me and wait there waiting for the server to come back around. You actually pay up front. But they did accommodate me and took my check from the table.

    Bienvenido a El Jalisco!

[As of 10 May 2021] HOLA YELP! Eating Mexican cuisine is not my usual food of choice, but I can definitely get down when its said to be authentic! RESTAURANT: El Jalisco was easy to get to from the hotel I was staying at. Right in a small plaza with plenty of parking. After entering the eatery, I could definitely tell this spot gets a pretty good flow of hungry folk. It initially seems like it is small in stature, but opens up to actually allow a good amount of people to dine. The decor, tables, chairs, and music all make your time here feel authentic. I believe this restaurant takes reservations, but a party as large as mine (10+) is a bit difficult to sit comfortably. STAFF: The group I was eating with had already been seated and orders were taken, so I missed the introductions from the waitress, Kendra. Nonetheless, we were able to grab a table and join the rest of the group. Within a few minutes, she took my order. While waiting for the food to arrive, I can tell that the staff were efficient in cleaning whenever customers were done eating. FOOD: You can't be an "authentic" Mexican restaurant without chips and salsa, right? Without a doubt, your table will get a great helping of both! I decided to order the Mole Poblano (sweet) with a Strawberry Jarrito. It did not take too long at all for it to arrive, which is always nice. Everything tasted great, but my carne wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be. El Jalisco is the real deal. Authentic Mexican cuisine that you won't be disappointed with. I totally forgot to order some Horchata! Next time I'll have to remember to get some. ADIOS! fin.

Went here on a recommendation. Lots of reasonable lunch options- good prices too. I had the huevos rancheros. Good but not the best I've ever had.

Had lunch there today. The service was excellent and the food was hood. I had had the fish tacos and liked them. My wife had the Heuvos Rancheros and was more than she could finish. The only thing, I think $5 for a Tecate at lunch was a bit steep when the sign out front said $1 off Tecate.

    Mole Poblano and Tropical Margarita

The staff is friendly and attentive the service is. quick and with a smile . The food is great, tasty, fast and hot. Great little hidden gem.

Service was slow, all of our dishes were served warm at best (mine was cold), only exception being the fajitas which were served steaming hot. I had enchiladas plus a taco. Not very flavorful and skimpy on the fillings. A lot of tortilla and sauce but very little meat. My wife had the chili rellenos and while deep fried on the outside the cheese inside wasn't melted. One friend had the dish that they serve flaming (can't recall its name and I didn't get a pic) and it was meh. The fish tacos also not a highlight. The steak fajitas were said to be pretty good. Also note, chips and salsa are not complimentary, they charge $3.50 for soda water and have a sign at the entrance notifying a 5% discount if paying cash (i.e. a 5% credit card fee). I'm not sure if this was just an off night for them or not but there are a few Mexican spots in the area that are consistently good (Plaza Azteca in White Oak and El Campesino in Monroeville). I likely won't try Madero again.
