The exhibits felt limited, and overall there wasn't enough to keep me engaged throughout the visit. I gave it 2 stars because there were two installations that I genuinely enjoyed: the heartbeat light experience and the mist light show. Those were immersive, creative, and visually impressive. Unfortunately, the rest of the museum didn't offer the same level of excitement or wow factor. If you've been to other immersive art experiences, especially in Las Vegas, you may find this one underwhelming. While there were a couple of highlights, I don't feel the overall experience justified the cost of admission.

I love the unassuming rawness of this complex. A number of Anselm Kiefer's large-scale works overwhelm entire spaces: this place was made for them. It's difficult to pick a favorite here but the most unusual is Ernesto Neto's 'É o Bicho,' a 2001 assembly of lycra tulle, polyamide tubes, hooks, tumeric, black pepper and cloves. Looking like a series of large-scale udders hanging from the ceiling, the aroma of the two seasonings inserted into the pendulum-like protuberances is a sensory delight.

The setting and location could not be better - totally breathtaking. Views of the causeway and Biscayne Bay / Downtown Miami are amazing. The architectural details with concrete and MCM inspired wooden accents are just perfect. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful, and definitely added to our experience, and the gift shop is great. The restaurant is excellent and has a thoughtful menu, with several items that are inspired by pieces from the permanent collection. The sports art exhibit took much more space than I would have liked. There is a LOT of money in Miami, and I would have expected a permanent collection or even visiting exposition that would rival museums in New York, Philadelphia, or Washington, DC. - modern art, Impressionism, renaissance, or other fine art would be incredible. That being said, I will definitely return to enjoy the museum, and look forward to seeing where their artistic directors take things in years to come!

BALLOON MANIA…read more.. This Pop-Up event runs five months thru Sept at the Mana Wynwood Convention Center then on to the next city. Paid at the venue $42 discounted rate for FL resident including $30 for parking in the private lot which was an unexpected cost, but had to park somewhere safe. Tickets were also available online. Decided to come here during the week to avoid a ton of little kids on the weekends or summer camp trips. Definitely NOT adult friendly entertainment. Took exactly one hour to experience all the room, so pricey for a short time. Maybe at a busier time it would be 1.5 hours but no way longer. Most of the exhibits were hands off and a few were interactive like the swings and ball room with music and cool light shows. It was something the wife wanted to see since it looked cool on Instagram, but not something I would ever do again.

Not only is the museum fun and interactive, it does have a section where it goes through each decade of time dating as far back to the 1920s and talks about toys, birth control methods and erotic filmography, etc. Inside the "erotic carnival" portion of the museum, each display is interactive, which means you scan your phone to this QR code and you basically get to play different games & win prizes! I expected this place to be more like a museum with facts and history about sex toys or brothels or something like that but it was not like that at all. It gave carnival game type feels with a jerk-off glory hole game in what appears to be bathroom stalls in which I won a tiny stuffed donut. There were claw machines, a bull riding section, a stripper pole, and a giant boob bouncy room. There is a sex store/gift shop at the entrance which felt fitting. Overall, a very fun place for open minded people looking for something different and unique to do in Miami.

The taxes and fees-added up to approx $10 more than the original price so $85 for two tickets. Google maps got us there and we eventually found the $15 self parking lot across the street. This was not well marked. Valet at the location was $20. We saw a little cafe area where they served some light food and drinks. Also a garden area out front with hammocks and chickens :-) The Ice Palace studio is on the outskirts of Wynwood, an artsy section of Miami with murals, graffiti, coffee shops, bars , cafes and boutiques. We were able to enter the exhibit earlier than our assigned time after a few photos at the selfie station. The entrance was dark and we walked into a maze like room with large written digital displays of Van Gogh's story, Vincent and his brother Theo. The main room was the actual digital display of his artwork in a 360 degrees art story played to music. It was very beautiful and filled the large room as we stood in the middle and took it all in. Some older than us has small fold up seats as younger sat on the floor. The room was not overcrowded mid week. There were two filled small benches but no other seating, my only complaint. I thought i saw ads showing spaced seating in the room, however i could be mistaken. It was not a long show and i believe you could stay and watch it again as it appeared to repeat itself. We stayed and watched the beginning over again. All in all we were there approx 2 hours. I'm happy i went and learned some history of this wonderful artist and the digital display was very beautiful. I think the Van Gogh's themselves would have been very impressed.

It took us about 2.5 hours to explore the entire place including the planetarium show. The show that worked out best with timing was called "How to Die in Space: An Interactive Adventure Through the Cosmos." The girl leading it was wonderful but as you may figure by its name, the show was not a peaceful experience. There were a number of explosions that I think scared some of the kids in attendance. The other exhibits included one about flight, the human body/mind, an aquarium, dinosaurs, and general Florida wildlife. I can't say I learned a terrible amount of new information but it was fine. I appreciate the museum's mission and it probably would be cool for toddlers-little kids.

It's a wonderful little add-on to an already fantastic day at the museum with your family, friends and even date. Bonus: they also offer food options like fries, hamburgers, and chicken nuggets, making it a great spot to recharge during your visit. Highly recommended! As well as the planetarium show, it is 100% worth the extra add on to the ticket.
