I took a walking tour today from the museum and it was the highlight of my time in Miami! I do have an interest in architecture, but the tour featured a lot of general history and information and I think would be good for anyone. The tour begins at the museum where you receive headphones and a headset. The guide takes you around the back of the museum to give you some history of the city. Then you begin walking along Ocean Drive in the park, giving the group plenty of room to stand and admire the buildings. It's easy to hear from a decent distance from the tour guide. After leaving Ocean Drive, the tour takes a small loop before ending back at the museum. This portion of the tour is along more crowded streets and it could be possible to get a little behind. There's a couple good stops, though, that allow the group to get back together. The tour is around 2 hours, after which you can walk around the museum. Most of the information in the museum was covered in the tour, but it's nice to get some more visuals to match with the information. The tour was fantastic, and I would strongly recommend it to anyone looking to learn about the history of Miami Beach.

We stopped by this museum to give us something to do in between lunch and meeting friends for dinner on day 2 of our mini vacay. Admission was just $7. It was a small museum, but it was fun to see history and insight into the art deco style. We visited the gift shop in hope that I could find a Miami patch. The gift shop attendant was helpful and fun. Because of my disappointment of not finding a patch, he let us try on these fun and gorgeous sun glasses! Glad we stopped by!

Had a great time doing the Alice in Wonderland scavenger hunt. I wish the questions pertained more to the game than the environment. So I didn't look at the directions here since I was riding with a friend. I thought since it said art deco it would be in wynwood. Unfortunately the hunt is in Miami/south beach strip. Therefore we was hot in our costumes. I would suggest to dress comfortable and definitely wear as less clothes and possible while staying into character. I would do it again just opt for the shorts instead of pants. It probably should be promoted more with flyers in the area prior to event. As well as on Instagram. Alot of patrons stopped be asking why we was dressed up and said they wish they knew because they would have participated. I saw the event on a Facebook ad. I'm not sure where the costume contest entry was even though it stated their would be one. Other than that I wouldn't change anything.

While it is smaller than I expected, they pack a lot of history into the exhibits. We all know about Miami Beach and the party scene, but the history about the art deco style architecture and Carl Fisher's world famous beachfront resorts are worth a visit! Also, it is a great air conditioned break from all that's happening at the bars and restaurants across the street. It is across from The Clevelander and was $10 to tour the museum. They also have a cute gift shop with nostalgic treasures and art.

The setting and location could not be better - totally breathtaking. Views of the causeway and Biscayne Bay / Downtown Miami are amazing. The architectural details with concrete and MCM inspired wooden accents are just perfect. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful, and definitely added to our experience, and the gift shop is great. The restaurant is excellent and has a thoughtful menu, with several items that are inspired by pieces from the permanent collection. The sports art exhibit took much more space than I would have liked. There is a LOT of money in Miami, and I would have expected a permanent collection or even visiting exposition that would rival museums in New York, Philadelphia, or Washington, DC. - modern art, Impressionism, renaissance, or other fine art would be incredible. That being said, I will definitely return to enjoy the museum, and look forward to seeing where their artistic directors take things in years to come!

The primary focus of the museum seemed to be the aquarium. The boys really wanted to see the dinosaurs and the museum houses a small exhibit. there were many options for the kids to interact with throughout the museum and they came away with big smiles. As an adult, I wished the museum were laid out differently to enhance the flow from one exhibit to the next. Easy access both inside and outside. Ramps between floors and elevators made access with wheel chairs and strollers easy. Parking is relatively expensive but leaving the car at home and taking Brightline made that part exciting for the kids and more relaxing for me.

Mostly…read morebecause when you're local the mentality is, "why pay to see a fancy house? you can drive by coral gables or south beach and see them for free". I will say, the grounds are absolutely delightful, especially if you go in the Springtime as we did where flowers are all in full bloom, that alone is worth the ticket price. The architecture is exquisite! A feast for the eyes in so many ways. When we came to visit, they were doing renovations. You could see the water damage on the roof and walls, probably caused by one of the many Summer storms, because of that the tickets were at a discount that day but we were still able to appreciate the beauty of Viscaya. There are two cafe's. One in the garden of the main house, and another across the street where farm animals use to be kept. Surprisingly, the food and drinks are reasonably priced. The day we were there, a wedding was going to take place and there was a lot of commotion going on. Fancy tables being set up, fine china, crystal glasses, the whole works. We asked a security guard how much it costs to have a wedding reception there and he said: "Just to rent the space, no tables, no nothing, starting price is 100k". So if you have 100k lying around, and plan to get married soon, this could be an option for you. Jokes aside though; I'd definitely visit again.

You can take your time exploring, and there's always something new to notice. The gardens were my favorite part. They're beautifully maintained, with fountains, statues, and pathways that make it fun to just wander around and take everything in. Plus, the views along Biscayne Bay are absolutely gorgeous and add such a peaceful vibe to the whole experience. It's the perfect place if you're looking for something different from the typical Miami attractions. I wasn't sure what to expect as I couldn't quite imagine what the museum would encompass, but it's so unique and inspiring, you just have to see for yourself. The building itself is interesting. Set in an area of Miami Beach rife with Art Deco buildings, The Wolfsonian itself is a beautiful building and is a great stage to showcase the different exhibits on each level. To start the tour, we took the elevator to the 6th floor (the 7th was closed for restoration) and then made our way down each subsequent floor. There was an array of unique objects on display. Everything from paintings to ceramics and even an infant's kimono. The mission of the Wolfsonian is to "illustrate the persuasive power of art and design to explore what it means to be modern and to tell the story of the social, political and technological changes that have transformed our world." To understand that framework, helps to better understand what the Wolfsonian is about. The objects on display were thought provoking and beautiful- and despite the building being smaller, the collection has an outsize impact. You can tell the items were thoughtfully curated, and made for a very memorable and impactful visit. It's hard to really categorize this museum, so definitely check it out for yourself. No doubt you will be pleasantly surprised and delighted.
