Plantains. I could eat them forever.

Those plantains are perfect! Mmmm. My husband loved his chicken and pork plate with rice and beans. The cuban sandwich was great. The service is sincere and they were kind people.

Amazing, authentic and tasteful experience here at El Cubano. From the minute you open the door you're greeted with beautiful smiles and very welcoming ambiance. I started off with the empanadas and sangria. Both the chicken and beef empanadas were delicious. Watch out for that sangria because the effects really does sneak up on you. I ordered the oxtail stew with white rice and plantains and a side of moros y cristianos. All I can say is wow! Everything thing was great. Compliments to chef for the flavorful sauce, tender oxtails and sweet plantains. Certainly when in the Valencia area I'll be looking for a El Cubano return.

Drop in for some Comer De Cuba and it was ALL delicious! Very nice staff attentive and knowledgeable on the dishes. The art in restaurant was excellent. I will be back and endorse this place!

First time trying Cuban food in general. But let's just say that the place or the service is the reason for the 3 stars. I'd give that 5 starts if i can. i ordered the empanadas (2 beef,1Chicken) Those were very tasty and good. Highly recommend trying them out, especially with the green sauce. (The beef tasted way better than the chicken). Now for the entrees, I'm really not sure what all the hype is about the Oxtail Stew. It's really not worth all that hype. It was very, very bland, IMO. It was definitely not worth it. It comes with 3 sides btw: Yellow rice, Beans, and plantains We also got the garlic-roasted chicken, Now all i can say about that. That it was chicken lol. There's not much to it, Just like any other regular chicken I've had. Nothing special about it. Also, Comes with the same 3 sides. Don't get me wrong again. The place is great. Very clean, very maintained and really friendly staff. That is helping you all the time. It was just the food, I did not feel it. Hate to say that I left disappointed. Not sure if I'll be back here again, Or maybe i will but i'll try to order something different.

Still cool spot. Stepped their game up a bit. 1. Oxtails are flavorful and a good portion just wish the sauce was a little more tomato based. 2. The Yuka Rellenas I would drive from far for. Best I've ever had!!!! 3. Salad is huge and hearty. 4. Black beans were soupy and not flavorful 5. Rice wasn't fluffy and flavorful like I recalled 6. You only get a few plantains so if you want a lot order a side. Will be back if only for the Yuka Rellenas!

We really wanted to like this place. But it's hard to enjoy your food while listening to the owner (lady) complaining with another table about her financial situation and stating how badly she needs a drink. Not really a good 1st impression especially trying to enjoy Valentine's Day with my partner who I was trying to surprise with his Cuban side. .I didn't understand the garlic bread it wasn't even toasted, they never offered to refill my ice tea or ask my parentner if he wanted something else to drink. The Shrimp Yellow Rice and beans were really good but the Ropa Vieja tasted like a roast from the crock pot with added tomatoes, nothing special. Idk I had high hopes for it being 4.8 but I think we will keep going to the Valley for our Cuban fix.

I've ordered the oxtails from El Cubano at least 10 times maybe even more. The last time, however I found the oxtail flavor to be a little off to what I remember.

This visit I ordered their Lomo Salteado and the meat was extremely rubbery and unpleasant. My daughter ordered their chicken empanadas and it was a hard no for her too. When we were ready to close out, I asked the waiter as he was clearing some things on our table, if he could bring some to-go boxes when he had a moment for things we didn't finish so we could take them home. He had a butter knife in his hands and threw it onto the table. Rough day I guess. I personally would not come here myself, but continue to do so for my wife. The food quality is spectacular! I always get the Baracoa Cubano sandwich and it never disappoints. The ingredients are fresh and organic with each dish I've ordered. Since I have allergies to ingredients used to preserve frozen food, it's always been so hard finding a restaurant with a menu that doesn't cause me issues--and Baracoa has never compromised with their ingredients! The organic quality of their food is something you'll taste on your first bite. And finally--the service is impeccable and I have yet to see such excellent hospitality at any restaurant I've visited, even in Los Angeles! The waiters are always kind, attentive, and energetic with their behavior and service. It's very easy to tell they love the work they do and it shows in their work ethic. In addition to that, the managers are always making sure we're having an excellent night and have transformed it to a level of service we've never seen! My parents and I went a week ago and talked to Daniel the Manager about how much we missed a Piña Colada from a closed restaurant which would make it in the pineapple itself--and he said if we promised to be there in a week he's make it himself. We came on Friday, and the joy that my family felt was palpable when Daniel came out with the drinks we've wished for years now since that restaurant closed! Honestly, I've never heard of someone caring for their guests so much to do that--truly everyone should visit this establishment and experience true fine dining. I don't think I'll ever eat anywhere else for a special occasion ever again.

This was my third time here and I had the 'El Dorado' - Sea Bass, which was fantastic. I live about 30 minutes away (...depending on 101 traffic....) and the food is easily worth the trip. Cafecito offers a very original take on a Cuban-Chicago style restaurant with a dash of California style. My wife had the Milenasa pressed sandwich which was made to perfection. Be aware of the cooler with the assorted pieces of dessert... it gets me everytime... I tried the Tres Leches and ended up eating the whole thing.. During our visit, there was a customer that came in with a 'to-go' order that she had placed and wasn't happy with it. She stormed in and interrupted two guests that were in the middle of placing an order at the counter. The manager stayed professional and kindly asked her to lower her voice and that he would address her once the couple finished placing their order. Once the couple left, the angry customer (gen z/young adult) started berating him about the meal and lack of customer service. The manager stayed calm and collective offered her a full refund as well as a re-cooked meal that she ordered earlier. However, this wasn't enough for her, she wanted blood. The manager kept composure, realized he was in a lose-lose situation, and calmly told her she needed to leave, which she complied. The manager was being rage baited and he handled it like a pro! This is a small 'mom and pop' shop pushing to make it in the tough climate of Calabasas. They are unique and treasure quality. This place is a true gem and I look forward to their growing ambitions!

I ordered the La Bamba Special, which features slow-roasted, shredded pork seasoned with a Caribbean-style marinade and is usually served with rice and beans. I was looking forward to a flavorful Cuban-style dish, but the meal turned out to be quite unexpected. Instead, the plate included chunks of pork topped with raw red onions, accompanied by Mexican rice and refried beans, which didn't align with my expectations. Overall, the dish was disappointing and unappealing, both in flavor and in the combination of sides. I ended up eating only a quarter of it. The refried beans had no flavor, and I chose not to eat the rice because I prefer different styles. One of my friends ordered fried yuca and fried plantains. While I appreciate the effort to include these items, the yuca was quite dry and could benefit from more seasoning. The plantains, which resembled regular bananas, seemed to have too much oil. As someone who enjoys Caribbean cuisine, I believe the restaurant would benefit from focusing more on traditional flavor combinations. Mixing elements of Mexican and Caribbean cuisine can be a challenge, especially for those familiar with both; there's great potential for improvement by keeping these cuisines distinctly represented. I recommend assessing your kitchen staff; they may need training. I wanted to share some positive recommendations with family and friends about visiting this restaurant, but I recommend exploring other options for now. I hope that constructive feedback will help enhance the dining experience. Thank you!
