Been going here for years with my dad. Food is amazing and consistently flavorful. Big portions. Excellent service and feels like home.

Stopped by to get a burrito for my dad after an appointment at the DMV. Customer service was friendly, lots of parking and indoor seating. They are famous for their grilled chicken, there was smoke everywhere and smelled good. Will try it next time .... The carne asada burrito I got was good. Flavorful and filling. Came with two kinds of sauces. I noticed they have bbq ribs, meats, burgers, quesadillas etc..... it's a good spot to order food to go

The Cuban sandwich and Yuca fries are delicious and plentiful! I highly recommend this restaurant. I can't wait to try their other dishes.

Hate to say this, but I'm done!** It's small things like this that just ruin it for me. I've been eating at Ay Papa's for years--for the last five, I've been hooked on their carne asada burrito, which has always been grilled. But over the past year, half the time it's not, and it's just not the same. Today, I specifically asked them to **please** make sure it was grilled, yet--no surprise--it wasn't. ‍ I didn't bother sending it back because I don't trust that they'd remake it with care. So I took one bite, left the rest with my full Coke, and walked out. Feels like throwing money away--I should've given it to someone in need, but I'd rather leave it there to make them wonder what went wrong. They don't seem to check their Yelp reviews, and I don't get why they wouldn't prioritize keeping their customers happy.

The service at this location is outstanding. All the locations have good service, but the older gentleman who works there spoke to me only in Spanish is a keeper. His hospitality is unmatched in the Valley. I would eat there just for him. I felt like I was in another country or a guest in someone's home. Whenever I pass by Ay Papa Que Rico and I feel like I could eat, I will stop by. They specialize in pollo al carbon (grilled chicken or whole rotisserie chicken) and Cuban food, but I also enjoy the Salvadoran pupusas on their menu. This is one of the San Fernando Valley essential restaurants to try with multiple locations to choose from. If you're looking for Cuban baked goods, try their location in Canoga Park.

Love love love ay papa que Rico! I appreciate that they have outdoor seating. Their grilled chicken is the bomb and you can't go wrong eating this. I usually order the black beans and rice with the chicken order and ask for the tortillas to be extra crispy. The service here is always great. The ladies here are always so sweet. I also order the ribs and the ensalada de frutas is so delicious. They also do catering

This place is as good as it smells when your drive by Staff was friendly, answered every question I had , as you wait for your food there is a worker that brings you chips with salsa and the salsa is really good, little spicy but lots of flavor. Prices are very reasonable, for the amount of food that they serve Now the food is delicious, I ordered the Cuban sandwich and it has tons of flavor however the way they roast the bread is delicious , amazing great flavor just enough crunch. One sandwich is shareable!!! Will definitely be coming back to try more of their menu, highly recommended

This was the half a chicken along with black beans and rice so good

The restaurant is in a strip mall, next to a barber shop. The woman behind the counter was so friendly and helpful that I was genuinely concerned about the quality of the food. Typically in a Jamaican restaurant, the ruder the service, the better the food is. This spot is the happy exception to the rule. The food was EXCELLENT. I asked for a recommendation for their best menu option and she suggested their fried chicken and maaaaaannnnnn, I think about that chicken like white dudes think about the Roman Empire. I'm actively trying to come up with reasons to take the long drive back to Chatsworth to try more of their menu. If you're ever in the area, this is worth a visit.

I was craving Jamaican food and ordered from this restaurant on Uber Eats last night…read more Unfortunately, my order never arrived because the restaurant was closed, even though they were still accepting orders on Uber. Wanting to give them another chance, I ordered again this morning. I got the jerk chicken special with rice and peas and cabbage, expecting a fresh, flavorful meal. Sadly, the experience was very disappointing. The jerk chicken was extremely tough and dry, the rice and peas tasted old, and the cabbage appeared spoiled& had a terrible smell (not edible) I spit it right out my mouth. The entire meal was not fresh and was simply reheated in a microwave. I eat Jamaican food regularly, so I know what fresh Jamaican cuisine should taste like. I called the restaurant to address my concerns and hopefully find a resolution. Instead of listening or attempting to make things right, I was repeatedly told that the food was fresh. There was no effort to resolve the issue or acknowledge my experience as a customer. I don't normally leave negative reviews, but after two disappointing experiences in less than 24 hours, I felt it was important to share. Hopefully this helps others make an informed decision before ordering.

They have curry, stew, jerk things and good portions in plate form. Loads of vegan and vegetarian options including Callaloo, Ackee, Jerk Veggies, Veggie Patties, Plantains, Rice, Peas and refreshments in bottle form. The Ackee and Callaloo Plate is one of my favorites. The vibes inside are mellow yet very warm and the service is excellent though I mainly do delivery/takeout. If dining in you can enjoy their homey touches, greenery, art and flatscreen TV. They have some pantry items such as sauces, seasonings, crackers, etc as well as desserts. It's tucked away in a small plaza off Burbank Blvd/Hazeltine Avenue with a small yet spacious lot that's rarely full. Street parking is plentiful though I can actually walk here (only a mile from home). Restrooms are gender neutral, always clean. Good spot to enjoy solo or with a small group. My friends in Van Nuys enjoy this place often, and we're all the same distance. Enjoy this awesome Valley must!

I honestly wish I had ordered more than two. The fresh juices were also a standout; the Pineapple Ginger and Hibiscus were both spot on. Even the imported ginger beer from Kingston was really good. The jerk wings were absolutely delicious, and those small bread rolls (similar to cornbread muffins) were super tasty. The peas and rice and the plantains were also on point. Now for the downsides, the oxtails were disappointing. They weren't very meaty, and at $35 a plate, I expected more than mostly bones. I did get one decent piece, but overall it didn't feel worth the price. The vegetables were also bland. Dessert was another letdown. The sweet potato pie wasn't sweet enough and had an overpowering nutmeg flavor. The cobbler was undercooked, the crust was raw and inedible, and the peaches tasted like they came straight from a can. Overall, a mixed experience, but I'd still come back for the patties, wings, and fresh juices.

My…read moreboyfriend is a wing connoisseur and a deal fiend, so he was expectedly thrilled for their $1 wing Wednesday. I had never had actual Jamaican food (only like Jerk style stuff so not authentic) so I was also pretty excited. We all three tried the wings and I also had the jerk mac n' cheese. I don't even think I can call them wings, they were so unbelievably tender, they slid off the bone like a braised short rib! I couldn't even pick them up because they were falling off so neatly. The flavor was incredible and I kept mixing them in with my Mac which was also delightful. The noodles were tender and relatively thick, with the perfect sauce. I didn't find the spice to be unreasonable! If you're very sensitive just know that, but I have pretty high spice tolerance and they didn't really linger much for me. They were just very flavorful. I would also mention that the flavor was great and I didn't find the jerk seasoning to be very salty! So for someone watching salt intake I found them to be mild in that regard. Since this is my first foray into it I'm not sure if this is standard or not but I do think a lot of people will really like that aspect! We were helped by an extremely friendly gentleman whose name I unfortunately didn't get, and then Yvonne who is the absolute sweetest! She was very helpful when I asked her opinions on the menu, and just has this aura of absolute joy which I don't see very often. I'd honestly come back just for her (and also probably to try the plantains because those also looked heavenly). The location is in a little strip kind of location next to a few other businesses and it's very unassuming! I loved the bright colors, and the small parking lot was pretty easy to get in to. The vibe is pretty casual and with a lot of fun things to look at. I'm not this deep in the valley almost ever, but I can honestly say I would take the trek this direction again for this spot alone!
