Very grateful to my local Dave's for being open so late but most of all for the many offerings they have available to a non chicken eater like myself. The Dave's Not Chicken (cauliflower) is delicious. You can get it as a tender, slider, mini slider, loaded fries you name it. It's delicious each time with an adjustable spice level. Haven't gotten to interact with many employees because I usually order on the self serve kiosk which is also a nice option. I've come here a few times a few years apart. The first was close to when they opened and I found their chicken to be quite dry. I chalked it up to them still getting the hang of things. However, when I went back recently, while not as dry, I did find the chicken slightly overcooked. The food was all very flavorful, I just found myself looking for sauce/condiments to help make the chicken easier to chew/swallow. I will say, however, the interior of the store still looked as if it was brand new. You could tell they take the time to make sure things are incredibly clean & tidy throughout the day. The staff was also so incredibly friendly. I could tell the store manager was there (I believe training a new employee) and she really pulled out all of the stops to be as friendly and helpful as possible. And I won't complain one bit. Just as an aside (& I'm assuming this is an isolated event), I went to get some unsweetened tea, and the tip of the dispenser wasn't on securely because it shot off in to my cup, causing tea to shoot out everywhere. I had to dig in to my cup to get the nozzle out & attach it properly then grab a ton of napkins to clean it up. Like I said, I'm sure that's not a common occurrence, but I just have to share it because it did get tea stains all over my shirt. read more

Always excited when a non-vegetarian-centric place offers a vegetarian option of their core food to give those us with that diet a chance to join in the fun. My son is particularly excited about the many cauliflower options. (Sliders, tenders.) I tried a slider and fries. It's okay. Flavor it good, but in the end it's cauliflower. I'm not against cauliflower as a side dish, but it really doesn't approximate chicken in terms of taste or texture. I understand it's healthier and there's nothing wrong with that...but if I'm going into a place like Dave's Hot Chicken that specializes in fried food, health is not necessarily my top concern for that experience. A good faux-meet, perhaps soy-based...and there are so many options out there for that...would be a much more satisfying experience. The basic, crinkle-cut fries were fine...perhaps a tiny bit overcooked, but I still ate them all. The overall flavors were good...if they upped the ante on the vegetarian option with something that better simulated chicken, I'd be as excited as my son was and frequent a lot more. read more

I appreciate that they offer the cauliflower as an option! They took it off the menu for a while. The staff was very nice! The place has high foot traffic so always seems a bit on the dirty side and their bathroom was broken and being fixed when I was there. (Nothing like eating while the bathroom door is open and they are snaking the toilet... The food is very heavy, high in calories and overall hard to justify eating. The prices are also very expensive. It's not a place I will frequent often but if you need that fried food experience it's worth a consideration. read more

For food, I had the Dave's Not Chicken Cauliflower slider and I really enjoyed it, honestly more than I've enjoyed their chicken before. We've dined in and done takeout here a few times now, and it's always been consistently good. The chicken is flavorful, portions are generous, and the prices are great for what you get. They're also always adding new items, which keeps it interesting. Today I tried the loaded fries (small), and it was the perfect size for me--so delicious and satisfying. It was also my first time trying the mac and cheese, and it was super saucy and really good. My husband got his usual 2-tender plate, which is always a hit. Was in the mood for chicken strips so I stopped by Dave's Hot Chicken in Northridge. I ordered a two tender combo. The combo however, did not include a drink FYI. That's fine, I just ended up ordering a small drink. First impressions: I was impressed by the size of the tenders- they were huge! They were perfectly seasoned and the chicken was fresh. You can tell it had just been prepared and it wasn't sitting out long like other food places tend to do. The fries were fine, they were super fried. I tend to prefer mine not as crispy but they were still really good, especially with the "Dave's sauce" that comes with it. I was ecstatic to see how generous they are with the side of pickles, perfect addition to an already delicious meal. Service was excellent, they were very friendly and attentive which I truly appreciate because these days all we get are Gen Z stares when we ask questions (lol, kidding, but not really). This was my first time ever trying Dave's Hot Chicken. First let me say that the customer service was outstanding! Jasmine took my order & she was so nice and had a smile on her face. She genuinely seems to enjoy her job which says a lot these days. I took my order to go. I ordered the #4 which is one chicken slider with fries (mild and I requested no seasoning on the fries). The fries were really good and the portion was plentiful. The chicken was very tender. I was hoping for more slaw on the sandwich. There were only a couple pieces of slaw and a bunch of pickles. The sauce was good. Next time I'll up the spice level a bit. Prices are very reasonable for what you receive. The restaurant was clean and spacious. Casual dining. I was pushed out of the way by a customer who verbally assaulted me and was screaming at me .i am 68 years old. I asked them to call 911 and they refused and did nothing to protect me. This was horrible. They watched what was happening and then said they saw nothing so they lie as well. My fries were cold likes it's been left out for awhile. I been here twice and the service of the food is a problem considering it wasn't a busy day with lots of empty seats. Love this place and will continue to come here although my recent visit yesterday afternoon was a bit of a weird one? Decided to try their new "saucy bites" but when I got home, there was no sauce at all. When our order was called for pickup, we waited a few extra minutes because she was waiting for the bites (maybe they forgot it in our order or something). Got the hot honey teriyaki bites and it looked dry as a bone. I was skeptical because we didn't get any extra sauces, thinking I wouldn't need it. Turns out the hot honey was at the bottom but only very little, couldn't even dip anything. No sign of teriyaki, sadly. Very disappointing 1. Cold 2 small slider. I could not even see the cauliflower. More bread and coleslaw than anything else. 3. I think I got 10-12 pieces of fries. 4. $18.00 5. No cups for water. No option for a regular cup to make up for the lack of water cups. 6. Out of mozzarella sticks. Just went to chilies across the street. No issues with the food, but it's unbelievable that no manager was available to monitor the foot traffic. Why wasn't a manager on site to provide a coupon or something to the many people that had to endure these ridiculous wait times? Fast food? Went here because my son is a hot chicken fan and I've discovered that I am not. It seems a bit chaotic to me. Can order at the counter or a kiosk which we did. Kind of have to watch for the person in front of you to get their food to know when to go up for yours. Could be better organized. The soda fountain had mounds of ice and no water available as it was making ice, per the employee. Just a mess that should be watched and cleaned up. The slider was better than the plain chicken. We ordered a m&m topped shake Which was obviously delicious We got the two sliders meal and we both thoroughly enjoyed the food we got mild so it wasn't spicy at all but still had good flavor.
