We came here during Restaurant Week because we wanted to try something different. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you haven't been before, just know that the music is very loud and the atmosphere is fun and almost club-like.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was alright, but nothing really blew me away. I ordered the steak quesadilla, which tasted good but had a pretty small portion, and also had an empanada that was really good. The biggest issue was that they forgot our dessert, so we sat there for over 30 minutes waiting before eventually flagging down our waitress, getting the check, and taking the tres leches to go. I wasn't a huge fan of the dessert either. At $30 for the Restaurant Week menu, I left feeling like I could have gotten more food and better value at some of the other Mexican restaurants in the neighborhood.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is more of a bar than a restaurant and smelled like a beer hall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The tacos come with nothing; we had to request Pico de gallo. We tried 4 different types of tacos, tilapia, shrimp, pork and vegetables. I liked that the fish wasn't fried. The vegetables lacked seasoning. The birria tacos were the best of the bunch. The service was friendly.
my experience may be different/way better because I stopped in when there were just a few people inside, and I grabbed only a burrito w/ drink to go. The woman at the counter was hella friendly and made me feel welcomed! Ordered: 1 Al Jardin Burrito (vegetarian: avocado, corn, bell pepper, refried pinto beans, crema, tomatillo sauce) ... It came perfectly wrapped with a side of chips/ two salsas + the burrito was grilled -- both unexpected but super appreciated. Tons of NA drinks to choose from. They have some other great menus: a $20 lunch prix fixe M-F 12-4PM, Brunch S-Sun 12-4PM, large/suuuper cheap cocktail one if you like a deal (can't speak to strength, thouuuugh).
Great happy hour spot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I went there was loud music and everyone was happy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was a DJ but people sat at their seats like a restaurant, they weren't trying to be a lounge or nightclub.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The spicy margarita was good and worth the slight additional price over the classic.

Came here for brunch on a sunday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walked in the restaurant and it seemed like a cool vibe for a sunday brunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was excited to try it out as ai heard good things from friends about this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There were about 8 of us and the restaurant was not crowded at all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There may have been a private event upstairs though. Some of us did the bottomless mimosas which was a good price for what it was. I believe it was 20.00 but I could be wrong. The glasses were small and came with a line. I never saw glasses for mimosas come with a lime. That was the first odd thing. I did not have the best experience here starting from when we were placing our food and drink orders. I had placed my order, at first I wanted the omelette but without something but they were not able to accommodate that since all the fillings were mixed together. Fine I get that, I then ordered the eggs Benedict with the sauce on the side and that was fine. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I than proceeded to tell her I have alot of food allergies so she can write it down, mind you the music was blasting![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It did not need to be that loud for that size of a resturant for brunch. It was not crowded at all and its not a club.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I think maybe also a little bit of it was language barrier? I than went over to her after and wanted to double check that she wrote down everything to tell the kitchen staff. Well all of my friends got their dishes and I was the last one which I am used to as I know the kitchen staff wants to be sure nothing with my food is wrong/cross contamination or what not. Which I appreciate, but this wait was pretty long. Pretty much all of my friends were done with theres when I did finally get my dish. Mind you, I only got Eggs Benedict. They should have either done mine first or I don't know. And the waitress didn't seem like she cared that my food was taking soo long. Some places may have said like sorry you had to wait so long for your meal or something is on us. But nope, nothing. Maybe their non brunch food is a bit better but the eggs Benedict were just ok not much to it and kind of tasteless. There are better Mexican restaurants in NYC that is for sure.
Service was less than par. Had to keep calling the bartender over to get food / drinks. Drinks were terrible. VERY small portions and the margaritas were not great. Good happy hour if you don't care for portion size, but in my opinion not worth it. I tried the nachos with cheddar cheese and the nachos with beef and pepper jack. Both awful. Beef were better but the cheese on both were terrible and highly not recommended. I heard the empanadas were good, but I did not try them. The portion size of the nachos were also not impressive. All in all, would not recommend. There is better Mexican
Came here at 230pm on a Wednesday. Only one other person in here. Not sure where the waiter was but someone brought us water and disappeared lol. I think the pr team was here because about 5 women were taking pics of food but never acknowledged us either Ended up asking the bartender if we could order and she became our server from there out. Ordered from the "lunch prix fixe" for $15 per person. Actually a bomb chicken wrap that i was not expecting after the service. Chicken soup was hot with just chicken and veggies, no noodles but barely missed them and the churro dessert was . The food was great but i think we could've left without paying and they may have never noticed

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Only for me to scream my order to my waitress because the music is extremely loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It wasn't at a level for a restaurant? There's no dance floor. it's disorganized. The staff seemed overwhelmed and unimpressed. The food was mediocre. Wasn't bad but for the price no. The lemon drop was delicious though. I did like that the fish in the fish taco wasn't battered. The guacamole I paid $3 for was 1/4 of avocado mashed, no salt, no flavor, no onions, no lime. The salsa provided wasn't good or spicy and nothing had flavor. Equites were 5/10
My girlfriend & I along with our friends came here before our R&B concert. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibes were right, I love the disco, the lighting and ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was a bit of a wait but very understanding with how lit up this place was. The service was good at the start, but I did not like how the server gave my girlfriend a side eye and attitude. Also delivering a horrible experience when getting drinks. Drink was extremely watered down and just un acceptable. However the tacos were okay, well seasoned but could use some sauce. This place I'll give a 7 out of 10. Would be more if we had better service and drinks. Also had to wait for over an hour when our reservation was at 7. Mind you other tables were free but we still had to wait. You guys can use some room for improvement. Hopefully the next time All four of us visit again, you can ever so kind my accommodate us
I hate to kiss on Local places,BUT the people whobrun BecxoDi Bacca next door FAILED here. The brunch was Sub Par, all 3 entrees were luke warm , rhe allnyou can drink had 4 items, 1 was NA. Then with that we were all obligated to drink our 1 choice for the time we were there. The Sangria was Horrible No fruit in it, no Ice....Do not waste your time for this Brunch spot!
Took my friend here for her birthday on a Monday. It was pretty empty although I had made a reservation. It had a nightclub feel with the pink lights, disco, ball, and music. I ordered the prefix lunch special which was totally worth it. I ordered a salad, nachos and dessert for $15 and my friend ordered a bowl. The food was yummy! It was happy hour so my friend ordered a piña colada. I asked if the mocktails were on the happy hour menu and our waiter said yes. The drink that I ordered is originally $10. When I got the bill, my mocktail ended up being eight dollars. Meanwhile, my friend's drink that had alcohol in it was six dollars. The prefix menu is supposed to come with bananas, covered in chocolate for dessert. However, they did not have that. Our waiter gave us Jell-O instead even though that wasn't on the dessert menu. I asked him to bring out a candle for my friend's birthday in which he brought a sparkler and a shot while playing loud birthday music, which made it really special.

I really enjoyed dining at El Coco , I had brunch here and it was absolutely delicious and there's a $20 Bottomless drink menu for 2 hours that includes (Mimosas, Bellini, Bloody Mary, Brunch Is Available Saturday and Sunday from 12-4pm For The Entrees I had To Get The Chicken and Waffles , it was so delicious perfectly fried crispy chicken ,and the best waffles with seasonal fruit I also had the Steak & Eggs It was prepared and seasoned perfectly. I even tried the Everyday Happy Hour and the $5 Dollar Margarita it was perfect. There's also so many great options on the Everyday Menu like a $7 Birria Taco that is one of the best I've had, and delicious empanadas with many flavors to choose from. The Service and Vibes Are Great. This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants in NYC. read more

I've been coming to this neighborhood restaurant for quite some time because the food and drinks are usually good, and it's a convenient spot for a quick bite. My intention isn't to complain or receive compensation. I want to point out some inconsistencies. The bartender often has to serve as the host, server, cashier, and bartender all at once, which understandably leads to delays. My biggest concern is the constant changes. Prices change, policies change, and drink presentations change so often that it's difficult to know what to expect anymore. During my most recent visit, my sister and I ordered two coconut margaritas for $15 each. When happy hour was previously discontinued, we were told that drinks would be standardized and served in the taller glasses we had become accustomed to receiving. Instead, our drinks were served in smaller rocks glasses. To be clear, my concern isn't the amount of alcohol. I understand that a larger glass doesn't necessarily mean a larger pour. My concern is consistency. The food remains one of the reasons we continue to come back, but I hope management takes this feedback into consideration because consistency and communication are important to customers. read more

Making it my quest to visit all three Coco locations in the city! So far this is my second, and wow~I really love that the tables are more spaced out than the Chelsea location (and with the bathroom on the same floor) so you can actually hear yourself and your friend well when you're talking! It is an all day happy hour which we enjoy, and while we were there the second level had a private party going on. Lower level had Barbie pink lighting and contemporary pop music playing which clashed a bit with the upstairs pop music.. For myself, I ordered a spinach cheese empanada, esquites, and an al jardin bowl. The flavor of esquites reminded me of corn soup in Asia's McDonalds which is a nostalgic menu staple for me. Besides that, the empanada was warm and A-OK and bowl seemed filling but the drinks really shone here. The tequila in the $5 mango margarita was densely strong but the strawberry margarita had a sweeter tone. Passion fruit margarita was worth the extra $3 for its unique taste. read more
I arrived at El Coco by meeting up with a few of my friends. There were immediately great vibes after having my ID checked at the door. My friends were sitting at the bar and I had ordered two chicken empanadas as well as a margarita and a shot. The Empanadas were sooo good and the drinks were even better. I was so happy to be able to take my drink to go as we were heading to other locations. My only con is the bathroom. I appreciate a nice bathroom in any establishment but this bathroom felt like it had not been checked on in a while. They have to bathrooms that anyone can use and I took the bathroom on the left. See the pictures below. Otherwise, I would come back to this establishment to stay a little longer and really be there for the vibes. read more

Yes, this is the place from Instagram and YES this is a must go to in Hell's Kitchen! Came here for a big group event (~25 people) and they sat us in the upstairs dining area which is great for large parties. If you read my reviews I love a good classic margarita and for $5 it was pretty darn good...not to sweet not to sour! They offer three flavors to add to the classic margarita. I ordered the shrimp and crab empanada and a shrimp taco...EXCELLENT!!! The empanada uses imitation crab but with all the seasoning you get passed it LOL. The empanada is stuffed pretty full and about the size of your hand palm. The shrimp taco was very refreshing, stuffed with shrimp, thinly shredded lettuce, and a light lime seasoning. It's street taco style so one is not enough! My friends ordered the make your own bowls, steak burritos, shrimp quesadillas, and chips and salsa...each said they would come back and order the same food. What I want y'all to try is what I named "green magic in a bottle"...it's a spicy verde "hot" sauce that tasted amazing on both the empanada and taco! There are 2 other red sauces but I didn't try because I enjoyed the verde. If they sold it to take home it would be with me right now! read more

Some colleagues and I decided to try this place after work, and it was definitely an experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The overall atmosphere and music gave the place a fun, laid-back vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We all ordered tacos, which ended up being the driest tacos known to man--not even the salsas could save them. For a Friday night, the quality of the food was disappointing and could definitely use improvement. Service was pretty slow; we had to wave someone down just to get attention, though we still left a 20% tip. After the taco letdown, we tried the empanadas, which were actually pretty good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also, it was incredibly hot inside, which made things uncomfortable--especially considering it was a fresh, cool evening outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, I'd say come here for the drinks and maybe the sides, but skip the tacos. read more
Story time! I made a reservation for 2:30 PM on a Saturday, and when I looked from the outside inside, that place looked empty as all hell. When I went to open the door, it was locked and I was super confused. One of the servers came rushing to the door and opened it for me and seated me right away despite me being 20 mins early. It was a little awkward because my friend hadn't made it yet and it was just me sitting there so my expectations were a little weird at the start. Once she came, we got to ordering. Um, excuse me, but $5 tacos, empanadas, and drinks in HELLS KITCHEN, NYC?! GURL, that sounded too good to be true, so I was wondering omg what's gonna be wrong with it. Answer? NOT A DAMN THING. The carne asada taco? Fire. Mar y Tierra taco? Fire. Elote? Fire. Chicken Empanadas? Well, not everyone's a winner. This is an excellent spot to casually dine and pregame for a night out. My friend and I ended up staying there for 4 hours (we had a lot of tea to spill) but the cute environment, kind staff, pretty excellent for $5 food kept us hooked. Super cute spot! Came here with a friend for a quick bite! We had the chicken, pastor, steak and shrimp tacos. All so freaking flavorful, i was super surprised due to the lack of reviews, why wouldnt anyone want to speak Highly of this place. The el coco margarita was slammin and i substituted for top shelf tequila. I just came from a trip from mexico and i could say this place tastes better than the tacos I had over there! Highly recommended and will definitely return. read more

Came to El Coco with a group of coworkers and had a great time! I was really impressed with how good the tacos tasted. We ordered two rounds ! You also can't be the prices here! Probably the best in Hells Kitchen. Our server Judith was awesome too! read more
Instagram worthy taqueria in Chelsea is an internet hit. The drinks are colorful and food is tasty. Ate: Lobster taco Bowl sans rice Empanada Lamb taco We didn't drink, but I'm guessing that's the thing to do and makes the food a whole lot better. Everything was tasty tasty, not on the Terrace Park Slope level but very good and reasonable. read more

El Coco is a great spot for happy hour or dinner and they are very reasonably priced! The tacos are delicious, I had the al pastor, carne asada and langosta. They were all delicious, I loved them all and would ranks them in that order. The esquites and guacamole were also tasty, you can't really go wrong with anything kk the menu. El Coco also has all day happy hour with $5 margaritas and all of the drinks are under $10, however they are a bit on the smaller side. read more

This place is just ok, what it really has going for it is the cheap drinks/HH and good music so definitely come here for that! We came here for dinner on a Saturday and it was pretty busy but we were able to get a seat pretty easily. We got the margarita pitcher which was strong (lots of margarita mix) but cheap. Also got some chips and salsa for the table which were also decent. We also got the esquite to share which was runny, bland, and disappointing - would not recommend. I got a Veggie Burrito for my main which was also just ok, I wouldn't get it again. Overall, great place for cheap drinks, apps, and the vibes but not a meal! read more

It started off rough but it was all well by the end of service. Popped in with my sister for happy hour today this place has been on our list and we finally made it. It's ah small place but the decor is cute and the service is fast and friendly. Budget friendly and the menu is decent, the drinks were a miss for me but for the price I understand. I enjoyed my burrito bowl the elote and chips and salsa was good as well, the music was good overall vibe for the gang if y'all just want to vibe. El Coco is a great spot for a decent cheap meal. so many restaurants in nyc are extremely pricey, and i'm sure i'm not alone in saying that sometimes i want to go out without dropping $100 on dinner and drinks. this is a great place to avoid the high price tag. everything is cheap, but the food is decent! i enjoyed all the tacos we got (fish & chicken mostly), but i liked the chicken empanada even more. chips and salsa are fine (a bit basic but that's fine) and the drinks are good (don't expect big ones though, they're low cost for a reason!) definitely would suggest hitting up this spot for an easy taco tuesday option, but watch out, it fills up fast! read more
