Great food and great service! Tacos El Gobernador are on my mind almost daily. Best I've ever had.

This place is a not what we expected when we came. It's near by a lot of warehouses and it's a hole in the wall but it's sooooo good. Their drinks are so damn good. The food is amazing!!!! The tacos Gobernador are . Their Enchiladas are amazing as well. The service is great and I cannot wait to go back. read more

Decided to check out yelp (obviously) for a good sea food restaurant and too my surprise this place pops up! About 20 mins away from Modesto in an area that doesn't really seem like a restaurant would be near. Lo and behold El coco loco! we honestly didnt almost go inside because I'm sorry to say it but I completely judge a book by its cover 100% of the time and that almost happened. Since it was our 3 year wedding anniversary we wanted a place to eat and decide to go inside and give it a try. We were not disappointed at all! We order 2 Micheladas locas, 6 empanadas de camaron, A botana de agua chile, camararones a la kora! I am very picky with my agua chile and I loved it, they don't over cook the shrimp and the salsa is spicy just like I like it. The empanadas were so hot and fresh, the orange sauce they served it with was not anything ive ever had but we loved it. The waitress Laura was fantastic, super helpful and willing to share some insight. If your looking to come here for some authentic Nayarit seafood come here, don't be discouraged with the appearance of the outside you will defintly enjoy the food! For the people saying it's a bit pricy thats normal for seafood places I spent about 85 plus a 15$ tip. read more

Another good experience here. Caldo de camarones. FYI... comes with Whole Shrimp, head and shell on! They make sure to give you very clear heads up when you order this so don't be disappointed when it's not peeled. Get it if you like sucking on shrimp heads and peeling shells. Lots of work though. Came with 9 or so shrimp in a nice seafood-y chili broth, with potato and carrot. Tasty for sure, but in my opinion doesn't seem right to eat with tortillas, even more work on top of it and didn't jive great. I originally asked if I could get rice instead, but that was an upcharge. O well The caldo de res was better. read more

I have seen them advertising and I have always wanted to try them. I was really wanting a michelada. They had some drink specials but I was wanting a michelada. I ended up going with their michelada loca which was a red beer with shrimp and cucumbers. I was offered chips and salsa but I passed because I did not want to eat and I didn't want to waste the chips and salsa. This beer was yummy and filling. The shrimps were not fishy at all. Definitely a plus. In the end the beer was delicious. If I had to knock the place, the price of my drink was about over $15 bucks. Just a wee bit pricey. read more

Our good friends from Modesto wanted to take us to a marisco restaurant for dinner tonight. They said they hella liked this one spot that was hidden in the industrial section of Riverside. We are so glad we said yes, this place is amazing! We were greeted and seated right away by the beautiful and friendly staff as soon as we walked in. (Seriously every waitress looks like she belonged in a telenovela) Service was amazing and the food was delicious & fresh. We ordered a Cóctel de Pulpo y Camarón (shrimp & octopus cocktail) empanadas de camarones (shrimp empanada *there is no English translation for these pockets of deliciousness) Botanas Chicharrón de Pescado, tilapia & fish tacos. And of course the star of the show...... Adolfo who's outside on the grill in the parking lot prepared my husband a mouthwatering pescado zarandeado (open faced grilled fish) Please stop and try this place out if you're in the area. It's a 5 star!! Unfortunately we were so amazed we didn't wait to take pictures of our food. read more

Happen to be in town for the weekend to watch claims Stanislaus State softball. My daughter asked if we could find a place to eat mariscos. Wow did we find a gem. This place is amazing the customer service is great. We arrived late and wanted some pescado zarandeado and we were informed they stopped grilling fish about 2 hours prior to our arrival. I asked our server if they could make a one time exception since we were visiting from Los Angeles. They did us the favor and served us a pescado zarandeado and wow this was amazing. Probably one of the best I've had here in California. This pescado was I definitely would recommend this place. I will say don't be discouraged as this place is located in an industrial park and the restaurant doesnt look appealing but don't let that fool you. 10 out of 10 recommend. read more

Omggggg the best food in town! A hidden gem in Modesto. The location is hidden and gave me "el cucuy" vibes lol. I was skeptical at first but after trying them out I can say it's a 5 plus star restaurant. Service was great and the drinks were well made. Will definitely be promoting them to family and friends! read more

I ordered two plates that came with 4 enchiladas . I get home to eat , hard chicken falls out . Food was bland and overall disgusting . This was not my first time here . The other few times I came , the food tasted delicious . I spent close to 70 bucks which included a tip . Very dissatisfied. The food from a few days ago is still sitting in my fridge Other than that , all of the staff were pretty nice . Just hated the food . Not something you should serve out of a restaurant!! read more

As an early 48th wedding anniversary lunch together today and to satisfy my wife's craving for fish tacos, we checked out El Coco Loco. She was totally thrilled! Her other favorite fish taco restaurant is in Sonora and it was too long of a drive for us to do this afternoon so we found another favorite location for fish tacos. I had the Pescado Zarandeado fish dish, a 1.6 kg whole red snapper, butterflied and grilled over and opened fire outside. It was truly scrumptious as well! Our waitress, and the other servers, at the restaurant were extremely pleasant, accommodating, and interested in making our time a special time together. The restaurant is located in the industrial portion of old Modesto and doesn't look like a place you'd stop on the outside, but the parking lot had quite a few cars and the restaurant was full and getting even fuller of patrons by the time we left. We will definitely be back! read more

I live in Long Beach and was visiting friends and family. I wanted to eat Mexican food so I saw this spot on yelp. Wow I have to say as a foodie this place has the works. I mean everything from seafood boil to pescado sarandiado. Everything was delicious. And the drink selection worthy of any "real"Mexican establishment. Ofcourse the service from the servers was above and beyond. Please don't forget to tip if anyone deserves any of our tipping culture is these kind of establishments that cater to our every foodie fantasy. FYI music also hit the spot lol. read more

Customer service was great. My appetizer was really good. The mango tostada was actually pretty good but it's disappointing that that they don't de-vein their shrimp (the poop). Took a chance on this place - been back twice in a week. Our office is in the area. You won't notice it driving by - because you likely won't drive by. It is in a warehouse strip center, has the skeleton of an awning and small signage. From the outside, pretty sketchy looking. Inside - clean and welcoming. Service is fantastic. They act like they want you there. Menu is wide, and runs the gambit from Mexican to Cajun crab boil. The food is VERY good. Tacos are generous and well prepared. Carne asada was fantastic (meat from garcias market down the road?) - $5 margaritas at happy hour that my dining partner claimed as good as a $5 marg can be. Salsa is a standout. Overall, this place is a gem. read more

I got the best service from one young guy there. Not gonna lie tho, the prices were ridiculously HIGHHHHH. I'm talking bout almost $90 for 2 michis, flights (2 orders), and guac with chips. The first time I came to eat here, I was like a hole in the wall, but when you walk in and the staff is welcoming and the food is just drop mouth drooling good. I had this fish off the menu that is called Pescado Zarandeado, it worth the wait to get it and yes it's only a weekend special. But it's worth going to get one and try it. Believe me I will be coming back a lot more... The ambience is great with amazing staff. I don't recommend this place at all.. it's definitely not a hidden "gem". save your money go to culichi town, las islitas, seafood places in crowslanding. this is by far the worst. drinks were good, food wasn't. I do admit i asked for a box so it wouldn't seem rude to leave all the food but unfortunately i couldn't take it because it would go in my trash anyway. we only ate the empanadas. the rest of the food was hardly touched. i had barely got my molcajete. ate 1 shrimp and asked for the check, paid and left. total waste of money. & to the owner before you comment you know your food is shitty. your business is ghetto ! do better.. i would do 0 stars but unfortunately i have to add one. read more
