The first good thing about this place is that it is open late, while most places close early. I ordered the mixto junior churry and churry fries. I'm not exactly sure what each item contained but it was really good. The sandwich was my favorite. The bread was super soft and the sandwich was packed with many different flavors and even textures from the meat and crispy potato sticks. The fries were also good but it may have had too much toppings--which I never thought I would say. I think the fry to toppings ratio was a bit off, so you didn't get to taste the fries as much. I really was hoping to like this place...I love sandwiches, I'm here for a few months for work, and I'm staying in a hotel in Isla Verde. The reviews are generally excellent. So what happened? I walked up, placed my order (the girl at the register spoke English and was very nice), and waited. I think it ended up being just over 15 minutes...not great and not terrible, but I figured having a nice, fresh grilled chicken sandwich would be worth a little wait. When my number was called, I grabbed the bag and sat down at the bus stop about 100 feet away. The sanwich was cold! I don't mean lukewarm...room temperature without a trace of heat. Shortly after arriving in San Juan, we headed to get a late night snack at El Cherry. Made popular by Man vs. Food and Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations, the mixto sandwich is the thing to get. Open until 4am, the truck was bustling when we arrived just before 2am. The line moved relatively fast with the majority of people ordering their famous sandwich, some with accompanying fries. The price of the sandwich - $4.26 for the junior and $6.28 for the regular - includes a drink with your choice of water, juice, or soda. My friend loves this place so given all that I had heard, I was expecting this to be the best sandwich I'd ever had. It wasn't. That honor still goes to Paseo's Cuban roasted pork sandwich in Seattle or the muffuletta at New Orlean's Cochon Butcher. While the mixto sandwich wasn't the most amazing thing I've tasted, it was unique. Sweet Puerto Rican bread was filled with chicken and steak - both of which had no flavor - lettuce, tomatoes, potato sticks, and the mayo-ketchup mixture. The bread was great, soft and sweet, yet sturdy enough to handle the toppings and I loved the addition of the potato sticks. I'm not a mayonnaise fan so they were kind to add just a little of the mayo-ketchup mix to my sandwich. I washed it down with an orange lime juice. 3 stars for me this go round. Only bad experience we've had in Puerto Rico in 8 days. They specifically made us wait longer because we are from the states. The locals and the guys cooking food talked about us in Spanish (thinking I'm not fluent). Then, someone blocked our car in and wasn't letting us out. I have thought only good things about the Puerto Rican people until now... definitely wouldn't go to this place because here you're dealing with the late night crowd who is only rude and ignorant. Thank the island gods that we stumbled here. I had saw this place recommended but wasn't sure where the truck would be so I gave up. This truck, I believe, is perm stationed in Carolina. I didn't see the address but it's down the road from Casa Dante. I ordered the Junior Mixto and split it with a friend because we literally just had dinner before but couldn't pass up the opportunity. The junior size is about 4 inches? It's not big but I would say it's good option for someone who is hungry but not hangry. Our Mixto with everything and a soda came to a total of $5! How can you say no? First bite after the unwrapping...what in the world!? The bread is SOOOO soft. Like you would think it would be crunchy or what not, so it is soft like pillows! The goods on the inside....wow! JUST wow. The chicken and the beef, delicious!!! Simple and juicy! And man, I freaking loved the potato sticks! Great sandwich! I've never had a tripleta sandwich before, but friends have raved about it a lot during my time in Puerto Rico. One place in particular that they recommended was El churry. Boy, was I glad to come to El churry to get my sandwich. For the money they load up your sandwich with meat! I don't think you can get a tastier sandwich for the price at subway! I'm not going to go through all the details of why their sandwich is great, because it is! But I will say that their customer service at this food stand is top notch. Since El Curry food truck made it to TV on Man Vs. Food, it's grown to six locations including a brick and mortar restaurant. I tried the food truck at Isla Verdes. The brightly green colored truck sits in a private lot with outdoor seating, a parking lot and a couple of clean, new restrooms. It also has a drive-thru on the back side of the truck. (pretty creative) The offerings are pretty simple. A beef or chicken or combo wrap or sandwich. You can add cheese and bacon too. And that's about it. Both have the same ingredients so you go with the combo. Go ahead and splurge with the bacon and cheese. This unique sandwich is very tasty. The meats are seasoned deliciously and the unique texture of the sandwich comes from crispy French fries inside. The original sauce tops it off. My only complaint would be the cheese is plain American slices. The price is inexpensive and it gets busier as the night goes on. Wow. For a random food cart on a a busy Avenida in Puerto Rico, this place rules. It's a giant food RV, really. It is parked in what looks to be an old parking lot that they laid claim to. They created about 5 cement table/benches under umbrellas where you could eat or wait for your order to finish cooking. What I love about this food truck is that they keep it simple: 3 menu items on a nonexistant menu. Unless you've eaten here before, you don't know what they serve so you have to ask one of the 2 operators, which I liked - it created conversation. So El Churri makes delicious sandwiches. You can choose between chicken churrasco, beef churrasco or a mix of both. The sandwiches are about 8 inches long and incredibly thick (hell yeah, ladies!). The fixings include cheese, bacon strips (and I'm talking about REAL bacon here. Thick and salty), lettuce, tomatoes, pickles (a PR staple in sammies) and your choice of mayo, ketchup or both. Oh, I almost forgot the best part - your sandwich comes STUFFED with freshly fried french fries. YUM! One bite into my delectable sandwich and I was sold. My husband and I chose the mixed meat sammies and planned on saving them for later. Once we took our first bite we knew there was no turning back. My hubby finished his sandwich in about 3 minutes. The flavors were an incredible blend of crunch, salt and creamy cheese. We were so glad we stopped there on our way to the beach and I can't wait to return to PR for another bite. Sunday night, 11 PM and we were hungry. Unfortunately we found this place after being in town for a week towards the end of our stay. This was the best sandwich I've had in a long time. And the price was more than worth it. The bread was perfect, the meat was flavorful and then the little crunch from the potato sticks took everything over the top. We were so sad to find out that they were closed the last two days of our visit. But it's probably a good thing because would've gone back over and over. This place is not open early in the day, it's more of a night or late night thing since they're open until 4am, but it does get very busy. I think this is one of the best sandwiches I've had at it's price. I say this because I've had better sandwiches but they were easily 2-3 times the price of a sandwich at El Churry (under $7). The bread is soft but stills holds up well with all the toppings. I typically enjoy the sandwich when I eat it sooner than later because it can get quite soggy. This food is OK/GOOD . I got the mixed sandwich regular size and the chicken bowl. When I first ordered I said I wanted the sandwich and she automatically made it a combo and didn't tell me until after I paid .. at that point I didn't care for going through the hassle of getting my few dollars back. The sandwich is good, nothing crazy.. I asked for extra mayo ketchup sauce on the side after I got my sandwich and they said no they don't give it on the side ‍.. so now I am trying the bowl .. it's literally a few small grilled chicken pieces and a little bit of rice .. and the rice I am not impressed one bit, was surprisingly not that good to me but at least it had Amarillo's in it .. I've been following these people on Instagram for a year and dying to try their food and I was reallllyyy disappointed .. also the sandwich was barely warm ..
