I liked the rojo and verde but they had other kinds too. Any place with good birria tacos will make me a fan, and they have me! The consommé was rich and the cheese plentiful. My husband loved the street tacos. They don't have drinks but they have aguas frescas and horchata. The horchata was so good I didn't really even miss having a marg with my tacos. Service was quick and so great. We had the food delivered to the table and when I went up to order a churro at the end, they didn't even have me wait in line for it, they just put the order in and said I could pay on the way out. I loved that since it's an order and pay at the counter situation. We came here after discovering that O'Leaver's next door no longer serves food, despite what their online presence says. This turned out to be fortuitous, since we had excellent Mexican food at the tiny El Churro storefront. It's very cheerful inside, a direct contrast to the bar next door, and as it happens, El Churro can deliver their food next door if you want adult beverages. We opted to stay put. The menu is easy to read, posted in large print across the front of the ordering counter. There's also a chalkboard listing specials. I opted for a bowl, and Big Bro went with a quesabirria plate of 3 tacos. He pronounced it "muy delicioso" but thought it a bit overpriced for the serving size. I ordered a bowl which had rice, beans, lettuce, crema, and a choice of protein. I chose sweet potato as my protein, even though it is a carb, but it fitted in deliciously with the other ingredients. It may have also had tomato and cilantro. I thought it was great. Big Bro had horchata, and I opted for water but there's also a cold drinks case with soda and bottled water. Even though it's called El Churro and there are several varieties of churros, we decided not to indulge. There's a serve-yourself bin of warm tortilla chips with four different kinds of sauces going from very mild to very hot. We discovered this on our way out, so Big Bro grabbed a basket to go. They also have a burger on the menu that appears to be an add-on homage to O'Leaver's. I recommend skipping the bar next door and coming here instead. read more

They did not disappoint, I got one taco de asada, 3 tamales, 1 pork and 2 chicken with and agua de Jamaica! Their taco was delicious and it had guacamole included. Tamales were my favorite, especially the green chicken one! The salsas were just the right amount of spice and flavor. The guy that helped us was very nice and check up on us at our table! Solid carne asada tacos at the Churro Truck. I enjoyed the seasoning, but the meat was a tad on the dry side. The green sauce (guac based I think) really brought the flavors together. We had a great meal at El Churro Spot. So often the notion is that you have to venture down to South Omaha to get great Mexican... this is not the case. El Churro Spot is right around the corner from where we live and serves amazing, authentic Mexican. The restaurant is cozy and inviting. We helped ourselves to complimentary chips and salsa while we waited for our meals. The salsa was fantastic! I ordered the carne asada and cachete (cheek) tacos, and my wife ordered the chicken and pork tamales. Both meals were excellent, especially the cachete which was melt-in-your-mouth good! Great new food truck! I had to venture off my work campus to try this one out at the weekly downtown food truck rodeo! I was very curious to see what their menu would be since I've always only imagined churros as a dessert. I was not wrong, the churros were all sweet options. But what I was wrong about, was the selection of other Mexican inspired fare they offer as well. The Churro Truck can be found for the most part-at booked events- and if roaming the streets, most commonly in Dundee. Nice guys who run and own the truck, and solid food that tastes just as good as the stuff that you can find in the South Omaha corridor. I've sampled a lot of their menu at this point and I am never disappointed. I enjoy the tamale (red one is super spicy and delicious!!!), the Churro, the street tacos, and the elote (mexican corn on the cobb). All have been satisfyingly nommy. Prices here are reasonable for what you get, which is more than I can say for most of the (overpriced) trucks out in Omaha. I generally head to South Omaha for my churros, but I decided to stop at The Churro Truck on 72nd street and give them a try. While I was there I decided to get an Asada Torta as well. I'm going to say the size of the sandwich is well worth the price! Very large size sandwich, delicious, and slightly spicy with the jalapeños, but not too spicy. The service was very friendly and fast. I got the traditional churros and they were very good. The layer of cinnamon was just right. I love food trucks but never seem to be in the right place at the right time to take advantage of them so I was really excited that a wedding we recently attended decided to have a food truck show up at midnight. First of all, the churros were amazing, I think I had 3...but who is counting. The tacos however were a miss in my mind. The sauce they provided for them was so spicy it almost made them inedible and I wasn't the only one struggling with the spice level.
