I don't know what kind of dressing it had, but it is similar to a balsamic but not as tangy. It was really good. Then, I tried the chicken by itself first. It was really tasty! Then I tried it dipped in the tzatziki sauce. It was even better! The rice was flavorful as well! Not just a plain white rice! Izmir Gyro house has been at there location for a while and I can't believe I have never tried it before. The service at Izmir is friendly and fast. The lady at the register was very helpful in guiding us to our meal choices. The restaurant itself is super clean and has an open atmosphere. I am probably going to add this to my lunch out options!

We started with the appetizer sampler and it was amazing! It has everything you want and things you didn't know you needed! The hummus and tabbouleh are wonderful but the stars of the plate are the pita and the beet salad for me. The beets are in a creamy dressing and just so craveable. The hummus is nice and smooth, the tabbouleh has so much herb and is so fresh. I only wished for a bit more lemon. The baba ganoush was really good but was a bit over smoky so a little bit at a time was good. The cucumber dip was amazing as well. We then proceeded to the main event - salads, fries, and falafel. Caesar (entree size only) and side dinner salad with a sherry vinaigrette were nice but nothing special. Then the French fries and falafels... fresh and hot!!! Crispy! Fluffy!! And when we broke into the falafels, we were so excited to see GREEN!!! They had HERBS inside!! And the tahini sauce on the side was so delicious. I want that for my salad dressing AND dipping sauce for the fries (although the cucumber dip is amazing on them too!) so much food for two girls so many boxes were needed. The guy behind the counter told me he "couldn't serve it without the pita" because he "didn't have any boxes." Funny, because I literally saw white styrofoam to-go boxes sitting on a shelf inside the truck. Not to mention, my friend got his hotdog served in a cardboard boat--so clearly there were options available. Either he didn't feel like doing his job, or he just didn't want to serve me. Either way, it was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. I'll be letting everyone I know to skip this place.

Recently, we were trying to go to Rookie's Bar for a quick bite, but it must have been thirsty Thursday because they were PACKED. But who was right next door and reminded us how great they were? Mediterranean Bistro! First off, the decor is pretty cute. There are flowers and art everywhere. There was a fountain at some point, but it looks like it wasn't working anymore. We don't come to a restaurant simply for the decor though, so on to the more important things - the service and food! Our server was wonderful and checked on us so much. The owner was even there when we were dining and we got to speak with her (she was so nice!) They have great quality foods too that are filling but not too heavy. We started with the vegetarian lavosh, which was YUM. It was a perfectly crispy bread with cheese melted on it, and topped with tomatoes, black and green olives, artichokes, and cilantro. Very tasty and it didn't need any meat on it, it was so flavorful. Next we had the falafel with hummus (I recently went flexitarian, so 90% vegetarian), and it was divine as falafel goes! Crispy outside and soft warm inside, with lots of tzatziki sauce for dipping. Great snack, or meal if paired with another small item. And pair with it, I did. I also got the barley soup in a cup and it was warm and filling, like a soup that would be perfect for a chilly Fall day. My husband had the shish kabob, which he loved. He had been annoyed at the Rookies situation but the lavish put him righ back in a good mood. And for dessert, we had both the tiramisu and baklava. Both were expertly made and deliciously sweet. We took most of those home and ate them over the next few days. Love when you can do that. With a smattering of many different items, I can honestly say this dining experience was great from beginning to end!

I was surprised at how good the flavor of the dressing was on the salad, and although it was a pretty simple salad, it was definitely a large and filling enough meal for me with the amount of beef that came on top. I also got the extra grilled vegetables, and these were delicious! Kind of a surprise to see it. It was just one large piece of each vegetable, but it was still plenty of food, and worth the charge for me. The environment is pretty simple in plain, definitely feels like a hole in the wall spot. The restroom is past the kitchen, so you get a good view into the front of house and back of house stations. Overall, this was a great meal, although just a little too pricey in my opinion. My total is $28 for this meal (no drink), which included the tip (they write it in for you.)
