    The smallest avocado crisp ever!!
    Rebecca S.

This used to be one of our favorite places to get food from. Started with the one in Fraser when we were younger and now in Macomb. We stayed loyal to them Even through Covid, but unfortunately this may be the end of our loyalty. Our takeout orders are AT LEAST $60 up to $100. Last night was no exception but soooooooo disappointed with how they've jacked up prices and made their food portions smaller. We LOVE their avocado crisp.they used to have a large and small size basically the same as a large or small pizza. Now they only serve a small which was okay but last night we got their avocado crisp and NO LIE it was the size of a tostada shell and cost us $14.50. It literally was boxed up in their "single" nacho container. Plus no bacon on it like they used to put on it. Definitely a TOTAL RIPOFF!!! Time to take our business elsewhere. Where do they get charging $14.50 for this?? Unbelievable!!

Home of the puffy taco! This place gets cramped, because people love their puffy tacos. Myself, I can only eat 1, cause I usually fill up on chips and salsa. Service was great, even with them training a new girl at our table, food & drinks came quickly, and our orders were correct. Take my mom here every year for her birthday. This year she got 86% off her meal!

I went to celebrate cinco de mayo here yesterday and I did not have a good time. The food is edible, but this places mexican food is not good. The burritos are small and have what appears to be shredded melted cheese; as a matter of fact this shredded melted cheese is on every dish and just seems like it was heated up in a microwave. The environment for cinco de mayo at this mexican restaurant was not good either. There was techno music playing the whole time and honestly there was nothing that would say, wow today is cinco de mayo other than this restaurant serving "mexican" food. The service was good tho, very nice and attentive servers. The drinks were good, tasty margs.

Good food, service. El Charro has outdoor seating and bar area. The inside is decorated with birds hanging from the ceiling. We both got chef's choice puffy tacos which included nachos or salad and three puffy tacos -shredded chicken, beef and regular beef. I also got the golden Margarita. Food and drinks were good and the service was fast. We were able to pay via a tablet the wait staff gave us which made things easy. Puffy tacos are worth a try.

    What I ordered

Ordered carry out and was so disappointed. They had good reviews from co workers and the was excited to try. I had ordered one of my favorite Mexican dishes Chili Rellenos. This dish it's a deep fried poblano pepper stuffed with cheese. What I got was a poblano pepper with rubbery cheese on top. No breading or cheese filling. Looked nothing like the picture online. I split some other food like puffy tacos , small nacho and enchiladas with a friend and everything was so bland the cheese was rubbery and the puffy tacos tasted stale. I under stand the nacho was cheaper but it was crazy it was essentially a big tortilla with some cheese and a few jalapeños. Wasn't even close to what I was hoping for and staff was kind of rude when I called to let them know we didn't get our side of beans and rice. Won't be visiting here again.

The food is always great. It can be hit or miss service wise and depending on how busy they are. It was very chaotic on cinco de mayo but that was expected, I do like how they had music and a good waiting system. They sent us a text when our table was ready so we could wait in the car. I recommend the puffy tacos and any form of margaritas. The fried ice cream is a great sweet treat after.

I just love the puffy tacos here. I use to go to the Rochester road location but it closed down. This was my first time at this location. The food and service were both amazing. It is much smaller than the Rochester location. It's wheelchair accessible; except they do have the bathroom hall lived with child seats and chairs which might make it difficult to get by if you have a larger wheelchair but they can be moved if you ask. They have a full bar. It is in a strip mall so you have to find parking. I will definitely come back again.

    Patio is NOW open.

It was, hands down, the best experience we've had at a restaurant in a long time. We are very choosy with where we go out to eat these days because the service always seems rushed, the food quality doesn't match the price on the menu and feel like we're just a table to turn instead of a valued guest. This was most certainly NOT the case at Testa Barra. Our server, Bradley, was wonderful. He was friendly and personable, gave fantastic food/cocktail recommendations, and was extremely knowledgeable about the spirit selections and food preparations. The atmosphere was elevated and polished, yet relaxed. My husband had the smoked old fashioned (love the table side service) and I thoroughly enjoyed the dirty martini and refreshing "garden of Eden" cocktails. Calamari for starter was crispy on the outside and perfectly tender, cooked just right. The Ragu Conchiglie and Barramundi were deliciously comforting and flavorful. We truly enjoyed our evening from start to finish and will most definitely return.

This is one of those unfortunate instances where I wish I could give a 3.5* rating. Everything was ok, but definitely not great. The place is loud, and way too bright, especially for an intimate experience after 8:30pm or so. We would have loved to stick around for another couple cocktails, if the cocktails and ambience were good, they weren't. The "craft cocktail" ol' fashioned was improperly garnished w/ a whole 1/4 of an orange slice, instead of the peel, it was improperly essenced, and had an improper amount of simple syrup. It was essentially a shot of bourbon with a cherry and an orange peel. Tasted terrible. The drink lacked all of the taste and trappings of the advertised craft "burnt sugar" old fashioned. Additionally, they use a 1/2 of an ice ball, which would not have been offensive, if the rest of the drink was up to par, but as it was, the cocktail seemed cheap and off-putting. 2.0/10 My date ordered a "figgy sweater," a citrusy cocktail with vodka, also off of the "craft cocktails" menu. Her drink had the opposite problem. It tasted like a lemonade with no alcohol at all, or watered down alcohol. She's a fairly lightweight that does not like strong drinks, gets tipsy off of two, and she complained throughout its consumption that the drink seemed weak and not worth ordering another. 2.0/10 We were both interested in another cocktail, but due to the loud nature of the place, the over abundance of light, and the poorly crafted cocktails, we drove to another establishment for our second round. Food ordered: Seafood Chowder - Great job, delicious, ample seafood throughout 9.5/10 Brisket Poutine - Good but it lacked cheese curds and gravy. 7.0/10 Beef tenderloin tips - terrible... the dish came out cold, we ordered the GF option, and the bread substitute was gross. The dish was overly salty, and the beef was way, way over cooked; not even medium well, most of it was well done, and tough; this was $30 wasted, we barely touched it and it's still in the fridge two days later. I'll likely throw it out. 2.0/10 Chicken Fried Lobster - nice dish, I hated the dill, but my date licked it. The dill aside, it was delicious; nice presentation, great tasting waffle, w/ well favored garnishes. However, the dish was barely warm when it came out, the ricotta/cream soaked into the waffle, and it was soggy. If it came out of the kitchen promptly it would have likely been better. 7.0/10 I'd consider ordering the chicken fried waffle again, but bad cocktails will likely keep me away. It's tough to pay $30+ in bad cocktails to accompany a $100+ meal. I'd strongly suggest turning down the lights after 8:30pm or so, and installing some noise canceling/light panels to bring the ceiling height down, quiet the place down some, and make it seem more intimate. The two tables opposite the the kitchen, in the damn hallway to the bathroom, should either be gotten rid of, made into high-tops, or install a lower counter-service along that wall for a "chef's experience." Those tables absolutely suck. We sat at them at our first visit, they tried to sit us there for our 2nd visit, but moved us after our objection. I laughed a bit throughout our meal as the people that were subsequently seated at those tables complained during their meal of the constant bumps, and interruptions that come with the territory. Finally, our waitress did a great job. The food runner was late on a couple of our dishes, resulting in cold food, but the waitress' service seemed great.

Everything tasted super fresh and the menu leans more "snacky" in the best possible way -- perfect little plates that are clearly meant to pair with wine. We ordered a few things for the table and it felt like the kind of place where you just keep ordering one more thing because everything sounds good. Nothing heavy, just really well done bites that let the wine shine. Speaking of wine, the selection is awesome. It's not the usual predictable restaurant list. There are some really interesting bottles and styles on there, which makes it fun if you actually enjoy trying different wines instead of just defaulting to the same thing every time. Service was great too. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and welcoming, and you can tell the owners are really hands-on and working hard to make the place special. That always makes a difference. And the ambiance... chef's kiss. Moody lighting, cozy, stylish but not pretentious. Just good vibes all around. We started with Old Fashioneds, which were very good, although it did take a while for our drinks to arrive. Our server was friendly and attentive, but they were clearly very busy, and there was a wait by the time we were leaving. For appetizers, we ordered both the Devil Goons--seafood rangoons made with Sriracha and ghost chili peppers--and the regular rangoons. The Devil Goons were excellent; I had never had spicy rangoons before, and it was a great twist. The regular rangoons, however, were just okay in comparison. I ordered the red curry and thought it was just alright. I asked for medium spice, which was tolerable, but it lacked the rich coconut milk and curry flavors I'm used to from other places. My friends ordered fried rice, and their portions were noticeably larger than mine. For a similar price point, the portion sizes felt inconsistent. That said, they really enjoyed the fried rice. Overall, it's a cool spot to check out and clearly very popular. If I return, I'd skip the red curry. I'd also recommend making a reservation if you're planning ahead.
