Staple of Sterling Heights for consistent, fast, and delicious food! Our last visit was for a late lunch, early dinner. Just made it for lunch specials which end at 3p. Staff are attentive and efficient but not always the most welcoming/friendly. Lots of menu options, especially with great deals for lunch. Lots of colors and vibrant inside. Clean as well. Queso is hot and delicious. The complimentary salsas are always yummy and served with warm chips. Lunch portions were good, obviously smaller than their dinner portions. Disappointed with the taquito with chicken, tasted ok but not much flavor. The hard tacos with ground beef had a lot more flavor and tasty. Rice and beans are always great! read more

It's been a few years since I've been to this establishment. I stopped going because there was a dip in quality of the food. However, today I decided "what the heck? I'll give it another try it's been a while." I was throughly impressed. Not only with the overall food quality, but the speedy service and friendly waitress. I think her name was Lauren? She was amazing because I didn't have to ask once for anything I needed, it was like she could read my mind! The chips were nice and warm, and I enjoyed my Molcajete. The fried ice cream was also very tasty! I especially liked the addition of the little churros. I Will definitely be returning! The only thing I'd say is I wish they just gave us a big bowl of salsa instead of several tiny cups. read more

This experience reminded me why integrity is important in the food business. Upon arrival I discovered their online menu prices magically changed when I arrived at the restaurant. Then, when I brought it to cashier's attention, the person appeared aggravated that they had to revise my bill. Fantastic dinner! The service was great....so attentive and friendly. It wasn't our birthday....but they sang Happy Birthday in Spanish to two different parties and I want them to sing to me!!! Margaritas were icy and well made. They give you good chips, salsa and a sour cream dip, too! The Pork Verde and the Burrito Chicken Fajitas was our dinner. Five Stars all around. This location has been my absolute favorite since I moved to the Clinton township area! There are lots of Mexican restaurants around, but I'll drive the extra 15 minutes for this one! The service here has never let me down, fast & polite every time! The food is always piping hot, fresh & delicious & the ambiance in here is perfect for family nights out! HIGHLY recommend. My husband and I drive 30 minutes probably once a week to come eat here and get our Mexican craving satisfied. We always start off with a large queso and small guacamole and then He gets the beef fajita and I get the veggie chimichanga. When I tell you we devour this food in the matter of 10 minutes. The food was really good here, the salsa was perfect, but the drinks were lacking. Love getting margaritas at Mexican restaurants but don't want to pay 1350 for a sugary drink with a splash of alcohol. I mentioned it to the waitress that it was weak, and the second one was exactly the same. Don't waste your money on the margaritas here. I understand if you have to make money and tough times but you're charging 1350 for one drink ,Splash a little freaking alcohol in it give people what they're paying for. BTW I ordered the Texas which is supposed to have more of a kick , I couldn't taste or feel the Tequila even after two larges. Don't think I will be back. read more

I have nothing negative to say about this restaurant! Good service, GREAT value, delicious food, huge menu variety. They offer a full bar with yummy margaritas and fun drinks. They have many lunch and dinner combo options. I always say a Mexican restaurant is only as good as it's salsa and guacamole. It's true here! They are yummy! One of my favorite dishes are the fajitas, they are packed with flavor, juicy and a great portion. I am still wailing over the fact their other Sterling Heights location on Hall Road closed (it was closer to me) but this is the next best thing. Looking forward to coming back soon! read more

This is a frequent meeting place for us as it is sort of half way between our houses. The restaurant itself doesn't look like much of anything impressive. But the food is delicious. They have lunch specials that are very reasonable. We usually go for lunch because it is so reasonably priced. I typically get the lunch fajitas or a lunch portion chicken chimichanga. He likes to change up his choices. The lunch portions are quite big. I would have no need for more. They are quick during lunch too which is nice, although we aren't usually in a hurry. They have a delicious salsa Verde with chips that is incredible. If we have nothing to do, we might splurge on a margarita. They are huge and very reasonably priced. Day drinking is always more fun anyhow. Haven't been able to get them since the shut down. We are both looking forward to going back and having that sense of normalcy. read more

Pretty sure they gave me a wet burrito, chicken was dry and flavorless & the chips I got were SO stale. Like days old. I was so incredibly sad because I was really looking forward to it. Grand Azteca is absolutely the BEST Mexican food in Macomb County and it might actually be the best I've ever had! My BF and I live pretty close by and it's now our go to every Sunday! We stumbled upon Grand Azteca when we wanted churros. We recently went to Disney World, where we ate too many churros to count, and wanted to see if anywhere near us offered them. Let's just say Disney has some competition because Grand Azteca's churros are AMAZING. They're filled with frosting and smothered in cinnamon and sugar. Crispy, but still decadent. Let's start with the chips and salsa. They always give you a generous portion of chips and salsa with your carry out, for no extra charge. The salsa is my favorite! Not too mild but not too spicy. We typically order a carry out of 2 enchiladas, 3 taquitos, a side of rice, and then the churros for dessert. Enchiladas -- SO GOOD! The sauce is plentiful and tasty. They always come out hot and fresh. Highly recommend. Taquitos -- We opt for the chicken taquitos. So crispy. So filling. I wish they came with a sauce, but I often dip them into the salsa. A side of rice is enough to share with two people, which is a plus! This meal typically lasts us a meal or two and is about $20. What I love about Grand Azteca is they are family owned and everyone is always so kind. We typically carry out around 9pm so not many people are dining in but we hope to dine in soon! read more

We normally LOVE this restaurant but tonight was TERRIBLE! My husband and I order the same dinner every time we come. His came out spicy. I'm not sure what was in his but mine came out per usual with no cheese or spice. Whoever was "playing manager" was very rude to my husband. She took the meal away while saying as she was walking away from the table angry that "it was bell pepper not jalapeño" and they never offered to bring him a new one even after he said he would be more than willing to pay for a meal that was made correctly. They had maybe 6 tables in the entire restaurant so it wasn't like she was too busy to handle the problem. We won't be back and that's pretty sad because it was a regular date spot since I love the margaritas and ranch sauce for the past two years. read more

YIKES!! First off let me start by saying that I asked my three year old niece what she thought about her dinner 1-5 and she replied "0". Lol.... Now the wait here was extremely long for takeout. They would be out business if they were in Southwest Detroit. Carne Asada came plain without cilantro, onions, and no LIME!!!! Cheese enchiladas taste old with kraft cheese. Carnitas were DRY Chips and salsa were like watered down spaghetti sauce Overall if I could give them less than one I would. The last time I dined here, this business was a smoked barbeque restaurant. I liked it, but apparently not enough diners agreed with me and apparently they closed up shop. Today's visit was on Azteca's opening day at a new location! I tried to check in, but I couldn't find a listing for them, so I did what I have done countless times before - added the business listing for Yelp. What luck! They carry virtually the same menu as their Groesbeck Highway location, so I was already familiar with the food items offered. In case you need to know, this restaurant is part of a locally owned chain of full-service Mexican restaurants. Casual dining - good for groups, families (including the kiddies), couples, singles - anyone who likes good, solid Mexican food served at reasonable prices. Is it authentic? Well, it isn't French or Italian they're speaking back in the kitchen! Wanna polish up on your Spanish? They will be happy to converse with you. Refreshments include soft drinks and a full bar. They have patio dining available out front facing the highway. Inside dining in the wood-floor dining room allows for viewing some of the TV monitors amply lining the upper walls. The tables are not crowded together, granting plenty of room for casual dining. Once seated by our host, we were offered the complimentary chips -n- salsa that is customary at dine-in Mexican restaurants in the region. Fresh and good (a 2nd load of chips -n- salsa was given for the asking). . Dining with two others, I chose not to order food, as I was still stuffed from a brunch meal earlier in the day. My dining partners ordered enchilada and rice ala carte, and the other ordered a Carnitas dinner. I try to choose my dining partners well. Petite diners often yield left-overs, which I am only happy to assist in disposing of. I must admit, the food at Azteca was every bit as delicious as I expected. Service was impeccable. My boyfriend and I stopped here the other night after driving around and wanting something different. We've never been here before but we will certainly be back! No wait on a Friday evening was a plus. Large restaurant and wonderful service. Menu is pretty extensive with so many options that you're left deciding between a bunch of things. There is an ale carte menu so that's a plus. My boyfriend and I both had the fajita burritos. Mine with Chicken. His with steak. Very flavorful and pretty large portion. Tons of veggies stuffed perfectly into two tortillas. You have the option of beans OR rice. I chose beans and they were topped with cheese and weren't dry at all. Never been to a Mexican restaurant that didn't have dry beans! Loved the queso on top of the burritos. Probably my favorite part! Prices were excellent and lots of specials. So we had our doubts because of the modest outside. The inside was super fun and had a great authentic atmosphere. The food was very good for the most part. The white sauce they serve with the chips was odd to me but my boyfriend loved it. I'd just recommend trying multiple things because their white queso, which we ordered separate was amazing. I live very close to the restaurant, so it's not something I am happy about even though it was a carryout. They charge $0.50 for carryouts. I was also not given my 10% discount. My boyfriend and I just left this restaurant and we couldn't be happier. We were contemplating whether to eat at Azteca or Mexican Village. Boy are we ever happy we chose Azteca. We often go to the Azteca on 14 and John R. Today we wanted to try a different location. We will probably always go to this location from now on. The food was literally to die for. My boyfriend got the California burrito and I got the fajitas burrito. We both ate our entire plate. It's not very often that we come across a good waitress. Anna was our waitress and she was by far the best waitress we have ever had, mind you we've been to a lot of restaurants. I highly suggest requesting Anna when you eat at this restaurant. My husband and I love to go here during regular times on the weekends. It's a wonderfully comfortable atmosphere, with a friendly, attentive staff, and always delicious food and drinks. We have continued to go and pick up takeout, and were particularly relieved when we were able to resume purchasing Texas margaritas, which we bring home and put in our own blender.
