We were looking for authentic Mexican food!Great food, great service during our trip to Wilmington ;)

Queso-birria

Food was good. Service good. Servings were... ehhh. I paid $17 for 3 queso-birrias and some rice. Small portion. Otherwise was good.

I ordered the steak burrito and a side of queso! The food is delicioso! The server was very nice and attentive also.

Nothing better than authentic Mexican! Love the chicken pork tacos. Fast service and affordable

Chori Pollo
Sarah D.

El Cerro is more of a Tex-Mex/Americanized Mexican chain than authentic. Choripollo and shrimp quesadilla is normally my go to. Their dessert is really yummy as well. Service is always nice and keep your drinks refilled. But if you want more authentic foods, I'd look somewhere else.

Enchiladas

Tasted good, good salsa and chips, portions were good as well. The chairs and table were a little sticky though and there was a wait.

The staff is friendly and the place is very lively. It seems to be a little quieter at lunchtime, no waiting for a table at this time. They also have outside seating. We ordered the birria sandwich, think amped up grilled cheese with very tender meat. It comes with the dipping sauce and a side of ultra crispy French fries. Next up is the enchiladas verdes with steak. This dish comes with refried beans and rice. So, so good. Food is not greasy at all. The verde sauce is delicious and not at all spicy. Really tasty. We always want to try dessert, but we were in the middle of our workday, so we passed this time. Their breakfast here is outstanding, go for something authentic, rather than your typical "American " breakfast items. You won't be disappointed with any choice here. We have loved everything so far.

Not only did our waiter check in on us in an appropriate time frame but (Who I believe is the manager) came in to check in as well. Not just us though, EVERY TABLE! The food was amazing, the mimosa flight was just the right amount for an afternoon drink. We had the birria tacos, ACP, and breakfast skillet.10/10 amazing. I honestly have zero negatives for this establishment. We had an amazing time and the food was amazing as well. We WILL be back.

The restaurant is especially known locally for its authentic Mexican breakfast dishes, birria, and chilaquiles. I gave it a try with some coworkers for the first time in the Wilmington location, a it was fantastic. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. I tried the Dovorciados eggs (two sunny side up eggs on top of a crispy corn tortilla with red and green salsa, separated by refried beans, and queso fresco.) with the Cafe de Olla. Everything was delicious. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere felt cozy and authentic. Easily one of the best breakfast and lunch spots in Wilmington. I'll definitely be back!

Today was not my first time eating here, and if I'm be truthful , every time I'm in town, I make it a point to stop by. They serve the kind of traditional Mexican breakfast I grew up loving, along with so many other delicious options. The staff is always warm and welcoming, serving every guest with the biggest smiles. You'll also often see the owner walking around as well, checking on tables and making sure everything is going smoothly, which adds such a personal touch. The restaurant itself is clean, beautifully decorated with cultural charm, and filled with the incredible aroma of fresh spices cooking in the kitchen. I always begin with their Café de Olla--a slow-simmered coffee made with raw brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, orange peel, and coffee. It's served hot, full of flavor, and not overly sweet. Honestly, it's the only coffee I'll happily drink without creamer or added sugar. This visit, I ordered the Tamal Montado: two tamales over a bed of creamy black bean sauce, covered with red salsa, then topped with a sunny side egg, avocado, Mexican sour cream, queso fresco, and cilantro. Every bite was rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. I finished the meal with a pan dulce, which paired perfectly with the whole experience. I skipped tortillas this time, but they also have a tortilla station where they're made fresh by hand and cooked to order--always a sign you're in the right place!! They're open daily from 7 AM to 3 PM, and if you find yourself in Wilmington, this spot should absolutely be on your list

The ambience has this electric tropic feel, playing a variety of old and new Latin tunes, with lowkey lighting but not so low you can't see anything. I recommend starting off with the pork belly quac, and a spicy margarita with tajin on the rim I had the Machu Picchu roll(corvina, citrus tiger milk, mango confetti, and more) and I swear was one of the most beautifully creative flavor packed dishes I have ever had in this town. Look, if you are wanting a quick getaway to another culinary world and are tired of the same ol wings, pizza , and beer come check out this spot. Oh! And to top it all off the service was stellar! Also, the restrooms are super clean and well stocked!

First and foremost our server Bella was fantastic, she was so personable and ran through the menu with us even offering suggestions. The restaurant itself is very cool, it's definitely more upscale Mexican and the food more than met that standard. I had the 4 enchilada plate, they are stuffed with delicious chicken and at Bella's recommendation I did 2 with their homemade mole and 2 with the homemade queso, both were excellent. My wife had the cauliflower dish and really enjoyed it, it's not something she gets every day and the flavor really popped, great vegetarian options at Vochas. We had the Maracuyá Tres Leches Cake for dessert and it was next level tasty. Next time we come visit we'll definitely drop by again for an outstanding meal.
