Great casual family-owned business that is happy to ensure you have a great meal. We love the molcajete; full of tasty protein and nopales and the choripollo. Anything with the chorizo is well-seasoned and delicious. Ask for the spicy salsa if you like heat and flavor. We always end up taking the rest of the salsa home. They make their corn tortillas in-house daily. The tortillas are always warm, supple, and are the perfect complement to many dishes. Plus they have a rewards program. I'm prob the only one that saves my cc receipts, but in this case, I'm glad I did. My empanadas were $7 and my bill with tip was $8 and change. However when my cc statement came, I was charged over $20. That's a $12 overage. When I went in to the restaurant to ask for credit or something, they refused and claimed the manager wasn't there. We saw reviews were mixed but on way home from Myrtle it was perfect location to stop and get our fix of Mexican! It's not much to look at which is no big deal to me as long as foods good. A lot of folks said it was so we gave it a try. It was end of the night about 730 and few people. We got chips and salsa and empanadas to start. Chips were crisp and still warm and salsa was ok. Empanadas we're slightly overdone with not much filling. I think I ate more fried shell than chicken inside. Then I ordered the taco fajita salad.. it was pretty good .. not the best I've had. On my recent trip to the area, I was craving tacos and found this place near the Food Lion where we'd purchased groceries. Instead of cooking for the evening, I decided to snag an order of the pork tacos from here and check them out! Came with a side of rice and beans, but ordering pico and cheese sauce was extra. The inside is small, kind of sports bar-like decor. The staff was friendly and I got my order relatively quickly. When I got back to the condo, I got a chance to sample these and they were delicious! Not the best I've had -- the tortillas didn't seem as fresh as some places near home who make them from scratch every day. The pork was okay - again the depth of flavor wasn't as grand as some other spots. But all together, a very solid taco performance, especially with a bit of pico and cheese sauce over the top of the pork. If I lived in the area, I'd probably frequent here again whenever the Mexican craving calls. read more

SO GOOD! This is our go to Mexican Restaurant in Hampstead, and it never disappoints. They are located in a little strip mall next to a thrift shop. The food is pretty on point and authentic. Their corn tortillas are so good, I always get some to go for home. They also have really nice salsa and always fresh chips. We have tried a lot off their menus and never been upset with our choices and their margaritas are huge and always a good decision! Picture this, we just finished RV shopping at Howard RV Center in Wilmington. We were looking for lunch & the place our RV Salesman recommended was closed. So we headed back to our kid's house in Camp Lejeune. But we were still hungry and wanted to digest the information that our salesman had given us. There were plenty of places to eat - - mostly fast food. We pulled it over quickly, searched, and found Los Primos on Highway 17. The reviews seemed promising, so why not. We loaded it in the GSP & off we went. When we got to where it was, we couldn't find it. Where is this place. It must be shutdown. Wrong!!! Still determined, we drove past where it should and lo & behold - - it's in the Food Lion complex. Great!!! We walked in & it was pretty busy for lunch - - so we decided to enjoy the beautiful day & eat outside. The waitress was personable & helpful. After asking her some questions, my wife decided on Chicken Quesadilla (Quesadilla de Pollo) and an extra taco. I had a Chicken ACP/cheese sauce on the side and an extra veggie taco. The chips & salsa came out. The chips were nice & warm; the salsa was tasty, not spicy, but tasty. Our order came out quickly. The food was yummy. The rice & my chicken was great - - not overly salty or spicy. The side of house made corn tortillas were really good. My veggie taco was enjoyable. My wife's food was just as yummy as mine. She loved her choices & was happy she ordered her taco on one of those soft corn tortillas. My wife finished off the chips with my cheese sauce & and really enjoyed it. All in all, a great meal. So why would I not rate this restaurant a 5 out of 5 or 10 out of 10? Two reasons: One is the small sign that was barely readable while driving on Highway 17 or maybe I just didn't pay enough attention as we drove past it. The second is the old Alfred Hitchcock movie, "The Birds". Yep, we ate outside & in the middle of the meal, a flock of birds attacked the other tables that needed to be bussed. Not one or two - - numerous. In fact, our waitress told us that these birds were always there and also at the fish market across the street. Otherwise, a great restaurant!!! The bathrooms were clean & in good condition. BTW - - although we haven't ordered an RV as of yet, we're planning on ordering on from Howard RV Center - - totally recommended. Enjoy!!!! read more

My wife and I eat there at least once a week. Food is a 10 Ambiance is a 7 Service is a 3 There is 1 waiter that can make it very unpleasant. Most of the staff are pretty good. We went to eat on the 3rd at 4pm Waiter was very rude when my wife went in. The table had water on it and he got attitude with her and throwing her silerware at her after he cleaned the table. Then my brother and I come in, He brought chips and ask for our drink order and did not ask my wife. All this with a attitued. My brother got up and told him not to make our drinks and put a $10.00 bill on the bar counter and we walk out. The food is good but he is allways, that way until about half way throught our meal . Place is kind of small which doesn't bother me they did have outdoor seating. We arrived about 7:00 pm, is was somewhat busy but at least 3 empty tables inside a at least a couple of tables outside. Waiter seated us and brought us menus and took our drink orders. They brought my wife's lemonade and chips and salsa. After that I couldn't tell you because no one ever came back. No drinks, no one took our food order. After about a half an hour my wife said they are making our drinks now as she seen a blue one (don't remember the drink name), on a tray and had just set a margarita next to it, my drink. She then said looks like the bartender is too busy talking and not working on the third drink. Next thing you know someone walked in fro outside and took the margarita (bartender still talking). I have no idea how the food was because after 45 minutes we walked out. They didn't seem to have any problem waiting on the tables around us as they serviced them twice. Guess they didn't need our money. Needless to say I will not be returning to this place. There are too many good restaurants around the area that are willing to wait on their customers. Today was my first time in Los Primos and it will not be my last. Erick greeted me at door and made be feel welcome from the minute I walked in. He and Luis were genuinely polite, courteous, and made sure my needs were met. I have never encountered this high level of caring and unbelievable customer service in any restaurant! This is a pretty average Mexican restaurant. Small joint in a strip mall near a grocery store. The service was what made this dining experience really bad. Our waitress was all over the place and only came when we were able to catch her as she was rushing around. She walked by us several times but didn't offer to refill drinks or ask if we needed anything. We had to stop her to ask for anything. It was self seating and we sat for 5-10 minutes before we were greeted/given menus. Our chips and salsa took another 5-8 min. Our orders took so long that the kids even said this was the longest restaurant they'd ever been to. The waiting was so long for our food that 5 and 6 year olds noticed. Our waitress did not bring one of our appetizers and the meals came out at different times. We had two kids meals and two adult lunch meals. The adult meals came before the kids with at least 5 min of wait time between. We asked for spilt checks and she messed those up, as well. The waitress was young and they seemed under staffed. The food was ok. We had empanadas for an appetizer, the quesadilla pollo lunch special and two kids meals both quesadillas. The chicken was not very well seasoned. They used the same chicken in the empanadas as the quesadillas. Both needed some more spice/seasoning. The empanadas were the best thing we ate. The lunch specials came with rice and lettuce/tomato/sour cream sides. The rice was also bland. The veggies were fresh and adequate for the meal. Overall, after the poor service and blah food, we probably won't be going back and will try other places in the area. read more

We placed a to-go order today and they gave it to the wrong customer; when we showed up they informed us that someone else had taken our order ~5min ago but that customer would bring it back and give it to us, we "just needed to wait 5-10min for him to get back to the restaurant" - having worked in the food industry, I know that this is a major health code violation. When something like this happens, the correct remedy is that unfortunately the restaurant absorbs the loss and makes a new fresh order and the food that left the restaurant can be given to the incorrect customer who took it away or thrown into the garbage. There is no way to know what happened to the food once it left the restaurant; I find it deeply concerning that they thought this was an acceptable response. I will be reporting this incident to the health department. We canceled the order and went to Moe's and will not be returning to this restaurant (this was our 3rd time ordering here, previous experiences were average) read more
