Pancakes w/crema Brunch burrito, oven roasted potatoes Fresh tortilla chips Birria quesadilla, refried beans, rice, consommé

Another great meal at Camino Real! Friendly service and quick seating, charming design and decor feels like sitting at an outdoor cafe (minus the heat and bugs!). Lunch for my partner was brunch burrito, smothered in cheese and accompanied by oven roasted potatoes and light pancakes with a sweet frosting drizzle. I enjoyed a birria quesadilla with rice and beans. The consommé was *chef's kiss*. This is one of our favorite Surf City restaurants off Topsail.

Super cute inside, delicious margs, and incredible apps! The chicken empanadas were definitely the star of the show. The tortilla on the burrito was amazing and crispy. We didn't love the empanadas - nothing special - but otherwise a wonderful spot.

Veggie fajitas

We order to go. Decent food for the price. Good sized portions. We ordered chicken nachos, burrito supreme and veggie fajita. All were good. Only thing that could have been better was veggie fajita. Half the veggies (mushrooms, zucchini, onions and summer squash) were fresh and other half of veggies (carrots, broccoli and cauliflower) were frozen. It would have been better to use all fresh veggies. Definitely would give them another try but a different selection on food.

Stopped here for dinner with 5 others on a Friday night after we were told Shuckin Shack would be an hour and a half wait. We sat outside which is a nice area! Service was quick. Food was cheap and filled us up. The complimentary salsa was good and spicy. I wasn't crazy about the street corn, it was sort of bland. I had the shrimp with onions and mushrooms which was good and a lot of food. I tried someone's cheese enchiladas which were really good and covered in a yummy cheese sauce. I will say that the best parts of the meal were the guacamole and queso sampler. Lows of the meal was that my rice was cold, my michelada wasn't the greatest and was totally watered down, and i got a $5 coupon for checking in on yelp that they wouldn't let me use!

Fajitas Texanas

I LOVE Surf City, N.C. and I LOVE Camino Real Mexican Restaurant! I've visited this location quite a few times and I've only had one bad experience. Unfortunately, that was my most recent visit (hence, the 3 stars). The food here is always good and the portions are typically very generous, except for our one bad experience. I generally visit this location for an early dinner (between 3pm and 4pm) and I pretty much order the same thing, Fajitas Texanos. I LOVE fajitas, especially, mixed fajitas with steak, chicken and shrimp! Our typical visit time is pretty slow for business and our orders of fajitas are pretty quick to prepare but our most recent visit proved things are not always what they seem. Plenty of staff, yet we waited outside at the "Please Wait Here To Be Seated" sign for over 5 minutes before we stepped inside and asked if they were open. Service was "fair" from there on, if I'm being fair! I don't want to lose this dining option in Surf City! I've already crossed their seafood neighbor off my list for poor service. I will return to give them another shot but it is frustrating to have so many staff just sitting around doing nothing and you have to wait to be seated and for food.

Chicken Enchiladas topped with green sauce. Not spicy at all.

Terrible service. The food was ok but they didn't care about the allergies of one of the guest.

The queso was terrible and made the acp inedible. However, our waitress was very nice, hence the one star.

You have to try this dish,"ACP!" With chicken only, or the trio, with chicken, steak and shrimp. It has rice with a cheese mixed in, and onions and peppers. Then it's topped with a white cheese melted to perfection! Here's the thing though, the plate must have been 14 inches, and so full of all of that good food, that I think they purposely fill your plate so that you have to take a ,"people bag" home Reasonable too! The only thing is, it's best to pay with cash, otherwise you will pay almost $3 for use of a card, and we don't want to mess with the servers tips. Oh and before you go, build those muscles up, cause that plate is heavy! There were three of us, and those plates were so heavy that a tall young man had to bring them out, I am not kidding. We were oohing, and ahhing, about the sizable portions of the food. A couple of people who worked there, came to our table to see how we were doing! We could only say,"GREAT!"

We've lived in the area for about 6 years. Eat out fairly often. This restaurant by far has been…read morethe most consistent in the quality of the food, which is the best of all the restaurants in the topsail area. It is not fine dining and has the sports bar vibe. It is a relatively small place and I recommend going on non peak hours in season. If you are into oysters, they have a great selection of both local and regional on the half shell. If you prefer cooked, chargrilled or steamed is a good choice. While the menu has a great selection of seafood, the chalkboard specials features extremely fresh local catches which change daily. While there are several restaurants in and around the topsail area this is the only one where I have never been disappointed. If you go at peak hours during the vacation season expect to wait but it is worth it. You can't miss with any of the steamed shellfish offerings and if you prefer fried there batter is light and not overpowering. As a sports bar, they have a large selection of tap and bottled beers and a good mixology of liquor options which is only outdone in my opinion by Rick's in Sneads Ferry

I could've asked the price upfront (and usually do) but what the heck... we're on vacation. The server suggested we get a "double" and share it. OK. Sounds good. It came out quick. There was a TON of food for two of us. Shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn. It didn't have a lot of seasoning also on it, but - no problem - there was a rack with every hot sauce you'd ever need, plus salt, pepper and old bay. We both ate our fill and even left a few potatoes. The bill comes and it's less than $40. It might be the cheapest great meal I've had in a long time. Or maybe it's the "greatest cheap meal" I've had in a long time... I don't know. Bar ambiance, but pleasant enough for families. Mostly high tables. It all seemed very nice.
