    Shrimp Bowl

Visited here on a very uncrowded Tuesday night and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and food. We started with grouper bites and peel and eat shrimp and selected a few different entrees-- all tasty and generously sized. We had great service and had a fun night in an uncrowded spot. Win win!

We were planning to hit up another place for dinner and drinks but we drove by here and it was really lively and so we decided to give it a try instead. Small dining room with lots of TVs (perfect for March Madness) and a long bar where you have a front seat view to the kitchen. We were greeted right away and seated inside but there is a beautiful outside deck option for seating. Our server was busy but really attentive, she was sweet to describe the menu and the options were right up my alley. It's upscale simple is how I will describe it, a nice cross of seafood and Mexican food. You can get tacos or bowls, with loads of options. As a vegan who occasionally eats fish, this worked really well! We both went with bowls, he had the Three Amigos and I had the Mahi, both with rice and beans. We had started with the chips and guacamole appetizer, the guacamole here could have been more elevated and they give you a big bowl, I was surprised it didn't come with salsa also. The chips had a sweet seasoning on them, overall solid. The bowls were really good, perfectly cooked rice, the fish stayed flaky which seems hard to do when it's in pieces in a bowl. There was one dominant seasoning that we couldn't place on it all that seemed a little out of place (cinnamon? Nutmeg?) but I would order this again no doubt. The drinks were string, real strong. Great beer selections too! We took our last round outside to enjoy the live music on the deck which was a great time. We will be back!

    Steak tacos, chips and queso

I went with friends on cinco de mayo for dinner and to watch a band. We sat out on the lower deck. I ordered steak tacos with a side of chips and queso. My tacos were extremely filling and delicious! The queso was edible but not great. It was thin and flavorless. I had ordered their house margarita, which was lacking tequila the first glass. I asked the waitress-whom I might add was super sweet, she called us all "Love" - to grab me another margarita, but this time with tequila. She did just that! So service was on point! The space is super cool, lots of things to look at- 2 house directly in between the deck and the ocean. I got a good shot of the moon as I walked the boardwalk towards the ocean! It was a fun night!

A relaxing restaurant away from the hustle and bustle of this popular beach destination, this sweet spot serves delicious food and beverages and provides a path to the shore as well as great local live music. Enjoy a quiet afternoon on a weekday for lunch or a lively experience in the evening and on weekends. My preference is to walk on the beach during the week early afternoon then grab a bite to eat before heading home when this place is quiet, but I do enjoy meeting friends here for dinner and to listen to live music. If you don't want to wait for a table for dinner, aim to arrive around 5 pm. Keep in mind that during tourist season waitstaff and the kitchen have their hands full, so order a cocktail and chips with tropical salsa once you get your table then decide on one of their bowl entrees. I recommend the mango Margarita, and I usually get grouper or Mahi and have never been disappointed. Musical acts are usually local and top notch. Plenty of free parking across the street. Well behaved dogs on leashes welcome if sitting outside, but it does get crowded, so be mindful of both your pooch and other guests if bringing a dog here after 6 pm. There is an upstairs area for seating with a view of the ocean, but accessible by stairs only. There is a noise ordinance, so the music is usually not so loud that you can't comfortably converse with friends and waitstaff. Now, this is the beach, so if you are favored by bugs, I recommend spraying your ankles and arms if you plan on dining al fresco.

We had nachos and wings outside on the deck and it was very nice. Enjoyed the live music as well. Service was good.

Not expecting that for how full the parking lot was or on a holiday week. The waitress was nice but super slow service. She didn't check back often and we had to look for her to get anything we needed or our bill. We started with fried pickles and cheese curds. Both were standard bar food and perfectly fine. No complaints. Most of our party got chicken wings, some boneless and some not, and fries. I ordered a burger and Mac and cheese. Chicken ok, fries ok, Mac n cheese meh. The burger felt more like a fast food joint, as they had to bring out mayo and mustard because they don't put it on for you. It ended up a sloppy mess. Lastly cocktails. We ordered some pretty basic mixed drinks and they were awful. Didn't finish. I would say the vibe is so casual that for the money, you're better off doing Ricks's or another pub on the island where service is better and it's more of a dining experience instead of fast food. Probably won't be back.

When I finally got my food, my party and I were very disappointed. Person #1 got a salad and said that the sauce burned their mouth and was utterly disgustes. It tasted like chili powder and strong vinegar, which was not the buffalo sauce listed on the menu. The chicken in their salad was in huge chunks, too big to eat with the ton of lettuce, and nothing else. Person #2's order was wrong and was basic frozen fish, like something out of Costco. Person 3 (me) got the Nashville hot sandwich. It tasted very bad as it was the same sauce experience as person one. Person one and I couldn't even finish our meals and were sickened. Don't recommend....

We've lived in the area for about 6 years. Eat out fairly often. This restaurant by far has been…read morethe most consistent in the quality of the food, which is the best of all the restaurants in the topsail area. It is not fine dining and has the sports bar vibe. It is a relatively small place and I recommend going on non peak hours in season. If you are into oysters, they have a great selection of both local and regional on the half shell. If you prefer cooked, chargrilled or steamed is a good choice. While the menu has a great selection of seafood, the chalkboard specials features extremely fresh local catches which change daily. While there are several restaurants in and around the topsail area this is the only one where I have never been disappointed. If you go at peak hours during the vacation season expect to wait but it is worth it. You can't miss with any of the steamed shellfish offerings and if you prefer fried there batter is light and not overpowering. As a sports bar, they have a large selection of tap and bottled beers and a good mixology of liquor options which is only outdone in my opinion by Rick's in Sneads Ferry

I could've asked the price upfront (and usually do) but what the heck... we're on vacation. The server suggested we get a "double" and share it. OK. Sounds good. It came out quick. There was a TON of food for two of us. Shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn. It didn't have a lot of seasoning also on it, but - no problem - there was a rack with every hot sauce you'd ever need, plus salt, pepper and old bay. We both ate our fill and even left a few potatoes. The bill comes and it's less than $40. It might be the cheapest great meal I've had in a long time. Or maybe it's the "greatest cheap meal" I've had in a long time... I don't know. Bar ambiance, but pleasant enough for families. Mostly high tables. It all seemed very nice.
