I've meant to go in forever, but only managed to get carry out soup brought over to the hospital on a day I was doing chemotherapy. Despite disliking most food at that time, the tortilla soup was really good. Fast forward two years and we finally got to go in for dinner. What fun! The huevos divorciados (think huevos rancheros with one egg topped with red sauce and the other with green) were superb. The chile relleno was very nice (super choice of cheese inside, egg white batter light, nothing greasy)...but the green rice was the star of that plate. I might go back for 3 side orders of the green rice alone! Our server was super knowledgeable and answered all questions in as much detail as requested. The bartender totally knew his stuff, and has a remarkably interesting selection of margaritas. If you like sweet, try hibiscus. If you like savory, try cilantro. Seriously. I wouldn't have if he hadn't explained it so well. The cilantro is a fresh undernote...not at all overwhelming. I tasted the tiniest hint of jalapeño. It might be spicy on a night when the jalapeños have more capsicum, or they might seem spicy if you didn't grow up in Arizona. We were sent here by family who live locally. I don't know that we would have picked it on our own since the location isn't near the other hot spots, but this place is very good. I wish the food tastes as beautiful as it looked. Unfortunately that was just not the case. The presentation was beautiful but it was just bland food. Chips and anything tortilla was in the pil way to long. Atmosphere was relaxed confusing because its mexican and there was mexican music and some decor but it was decorated modern and there was also jazz music. But comfortable and family friendly. The prices are way too much for the quality and portions of the food. Staff was friendly and nice. Probably won't go back but now I can say I've eaten there. Also the nachos were 10.95 and the flautas were 9.95 I do beleive those are the accurate prices. read more

Earlier this week, I took a quick trip to Astoria (from Portland). It was a rough day, a rough week really, and when I saw a sign that said tacos I flipped a U-turn because tacos make all things in life better. Don't let the lack of curb appeal fool you! Once inside, the restaurant was open and airy and modern, but still very cozy. I was greeted immediately by a friendly young lady. I'm guessing that the people running the restaurant were all family, and they were all so gracious and genuinely friendly people. I basically eat a vegan diet with fish, so I had several questions about the menu and the young lady answered all of them without impatience. I ended up choosing the Mojarra Frita. And the gentleman that brought me my food checked on me several times as well. It was fried fish on a salad with rice, and came with tortillas of your choice. The fish had a super thin batter and was very moist, the salad was mixed greens and tomatoes, avacado and sauteed onions with herbs, and the rice was half spanish rice and green rice. I had 3 salsas from the chips they had brought before hand, and used them all on the fish. Honestly, it was perfect. It was exactly what I needed. All the flavors were so fresh, nothing too salty or greasy. I don't think I left a crumb. And the perfect meal to me, is when you feel full and satisfied, but not heavy afterwards. I also want to say that I felt very safe in their restaurant, regarding Covid-19. Everything was spaced way out, very clean, everyone in masks, even when answering numerous phone calls. This restaurant is located in a nondescript mall off of Hy 101. Just look for the Aaron Brothers furniture store and the restaurant is to the right. Since moving to this area last winter, I have missed really great Mexican food. I have to say, I thanked my lucky stars when I found this restaurant. Inside you will find a welcoming and hard working crew. The restaurant is spotless and the service is excellent. The food is outstanding. I've been here several times and ordered different items each time. The most recent visit was for a quick lunch. I ordered the chicken tacos - they were perfectly spiced & grilled; served with a fresh pico de gallo and had grilled onions on the side. Also a cup of pinto beans - seasoned just right. Their grilled onions are the bomb! (On a previous visit we ordered the fajitas - they were perfectly done as well - a great balance of spices, grilled veggies and chicken. I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. I found it on Yelp and starting reading the reviews and looking at the pictures of the food. It seemed amazing. But when I drove to the location I was kind of underwhelmed. It's in an old strip mall after all. And when I went inside for the first time, I was still on the fence. I mean, the seating area at first glance is a little odd. I've been here 3 times now and each time my experience was fantastic. The owner has greeted me like I've known him for years on both subsequent visits, his basic house margaritas are extremely good, the food is delicious, and on Friday's he has live music. Well, love fresh food and made by one of the owners and the drinks are made by the other owner, then you came to the right place. I am so surprised that more people are not coming to this place. Maybe it's because the owners are humble and don't ring their own bell. We only eat vegetables and the cook said no problem. I had a vegetable burrito and my partner had vegetable fajitas. This is such a fine fresh food restaurant. My husband is the fajitas special and I had enchiladas. The red sauce on the enchilada sauce was so good I wanted to take just that home. I loved that they brought our fresh chips and salsa with multiple flavors to choose from and it was nice to have a smaller portion to not overly fill up on. Easily the best restaurant in clatsop county. We went here after my family and I had a rough day. Librado, the owner, made sure we were smiling, full of margaritas and ready to move on from our gloomy day! We tried a few margaritas including the guava (our favorite) and they were excellent. The only complaint I have is that in Oregon you can't serve more than 1.25 oz, so the margaritas aren't that strong. My solution... order a double or get a beer to go with it! Empanadas, nachos, and tamales were a great start to the meal with salsa so good we asked for more with our meal! I got three tacos, al pastor, fish and lengua. All killer, especially the al pastor. Lengua was shredded which was a little strange, but delicious! We went back the same week and a few times after and nothing that we'd tried so far has disappointed. Librado is excellent at his job, and has a passion and dedication so strong I've never not seen him there! He's got some awkward kids working for him that you can tell are just figuring out how to communicate with people outside of a phone, but they're sweet and want to do a good job you might just have to remind them a few times what we ordered.
