Great prices and flavors. Went there over thanksgiving weekend and felt welcomed in the Honduran restaurant. The food came out quickly and clean-up was easy with the plastic baskets and paper plates. The Honduran decorations and holiday lights have the long folding tables a feel of a church potluck.

SODA DE BANANA ... Im so happy to stumble onto this late night while wanting to try something different. I was so happy to see behind the counter that they had Zambos which is the best tasting chips ever lol im so happy. Lot's of seating didnt have any wait basically like seat yourself kinda thing but not sure if thats because we came in late 45min before closing i think. The food is authentic with a little twist, the enchiladas was better than the Baleada. I'm used to having longer strip with soft cheese and hard cheese which was different in regards to taste but overall still delicious. I would like to go back and try something else on their menu. I wanted to Jugo de tamarindo but they were out, i'm curious to know how it's made because i love that juice. The portions are small and the chairs and seating area a bit outdated but would be going back again

First off: the food here is great. Definitely authentic. We started off with yuca fries, which came with almost a salsa-type dipping sauce. I ordered a pork tamale which was super thick and delicious, and we each ordered a chicken pupusa. The slaw on the pupusas were very good. We also split an order of flautas and those were also very tasty, they were topped with some sort of salsa and cotija cheese. Waitservice was attentive, as well. The only item that I ordered that I cannot recommend is the horchata. It tasted very strange compared to other ones I've had and I'm pretty sure they just used a powder for it - when my boyfriend got to the end of his drink, you could see powder residue. The reason for three stars instead of four is because when we showed up originally, every table that didn't have people sitting in it was piled with plates that hadn't yet been cleared - the waiter had to clear a booth for us. I used the bathroom a few times while there, too, and it was a weird setup... The stall was made out of wood and at 5 foot 4, I could see over the top of it. There were also some flies around and one in the bathroom as well, and some trash that hadn't yet been taken out. I would come back here for the food, especially the pupusas, but some of the other things were off-putting. I'm not the type that needs a fancy ambience, especially if the food is good, but still.

A very tasty Honduran/South American restaurant in Southwest Detroit. It has a very similar menu to Pupuseria Y Restaurante Salvadoreno. I had pupusas, a pork tamale, and the yuca fries. Everything was good. Not my favorite pupusas or tamale, but definitely good and worth the price. The service was good. Very nice waitresses, as well. All in all, not as good as Pupuseria Y Restaurante Salvadoreno in my opinion, but still a worthy alternative.

I give the food here two thumbs up! I had been meaning to try them out for a while so why not wait til the coldest day of winter as the perfect opportunity!! Place is clean, not exactly nice, but clean... which I don't really ever complain about because when a place dumps money into ambience that always comes with the expense being charged back to the customers making the prices way higher than the food is worth. That being said, the prices are really cheap too. My whole meal was only 8 bucks. I had pollo fritos con tostones. I'm not even a big fan of anything fried, or even like chicken much, but it was pretty much cooked perfectly as far as fried chicken goes, a little salt and pepper, lightly battered and crunchy outside, moist and tender inside (that's what she said). Came with a little salad and rice and really delicious beans. Like the beans were seasoned really well. Maybe I was just hungry but I even drank the pot liquor they were cooked in lol. Waitress was really nice and attentive, you'd be surprised how many new businesses don't appreciate the importance of having great service when you first open, it can make or break a place that isn't established yet. Good spot I recommend them!

Worth the drive from wherever the fuck we stayed, three interstates away. Awesome food, ridiculously low prices, and spot on service! Cash only, but there was an ATM across the street. No beer!!! Pupusas and sopes were made to order and the tamal was the best I've had in years - pork, potato, peas, and rice inside good masa in banana leaf. Maduros were perfectly sweet and served piping hot. Chicken pastelillo was ok. Two gorged ourselves for less than $20. I wish we lived nearby!!!

Amazing Honduran food! Ordered a dish that came with bean and cheese papusas (their refried beans are vegetarian), cabbage, cheese, rice, refried beans and a side of plantains. It was more than enough food for 2 people and cost $13. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is very clean. *Cash only, but there is an ATM next door* Here is a recent Metro Times Review that turned me onto this place: http://metrotimes.com/food/restaurant-reviews/restaurant-review-antojitos-el-catracho-1.1708555. Folks there are friendly, the place is clean, and the food is quite good. My Honduran wife had the pollo con tajadas, while I went for pollo guisado. Both were on point and totally authentic. The pickled onions could use to pickle a bit longer, but at least they were clearly fresh! The mega balleadas, by the way, are really balleadas preparadas for those in the know, rather than the extra, extra large ones named that way in Honduras. Regular and mega are the same generous (but not overwhelming) portion at this restaurant. For those who haven't tried Honduran food, give it a shot! The flavors are unmistakably Latin, but the food is always made simply from fresh ingredients. I would say Latin ingredients combined with an Italian philosophy on cooking. I would say also that this place is a reasonably-priced and quality entry into Central American cuisine. Shout out to Yosi, who provided great service!! Oh - and no, we are not related to anyone working there. We just genuinely enjoyed our experience.

It's a pretty small place, around nine tables, four of which were occupied when we got there for a weekend lunch. We were the only customers there who didn't speak Spanish but got by without a problem. We got: Pastelitos con Carne Molida ($14) - This dish consisted of 3 perfectly fried pastelitos, a cabbage salad/slaw, encurtido, and a small bowl of sopa de res. The sopa de res had a good beefy and vegetable flavor, with a slight warming spice and visible green pepper bits. The encurtido was a tart and slightly spicy mix of beet, carrot, jalapeno and onion pickles. For the cabbage salad, they gave each ingredient separately that you had to mix together; a small bowl of thinly sliced cabbage, a ton of queso that had a deep milky umami flavor, some diced tomato, cucumber and onion, and a dressing that was similar to a sweet thousand island. The pastelitos had a crunchy, very well fried exterior made of masa and were filled with ground beef and potato mixture. If you order these, eat them fast - the exterior starts to lose its crunch within 10-15 minutes! Carne Molida con Tajadas ($15) - This was the same filling used in the pastelitos on a bed of crisp plantain chips. It also came with the pickles and cabbage slaw. Everything was delicious, not much else to say. We will definitely be back to try the other Honduran specialties they have.

This included chicken and mushroom, chorizo and black bean, shrimp and crab, and bulgogi empanadas, along with ground beef, and cheese carimañolas. The chicken and mushroom and chorizo and black bean were my favorites of the 4 empanadas. The shrimp and crab was flavorful, but had a prevalent fish taste. The bulgogi was enjoyable, as well, but had a bit of kick. As for the carimañolas, I liked the ground beef a bit more than the cheese. The dish came with a sour sauce and, the cilantro based, aji sauce. Both were great, to the point where I didn't have a preference. For our entrees, we got the deep fried red snapper and the meat platter. The snapper was delicious, and the bones did not negatively impact the enjoyability of the dish like I thought it may. It came with limes, fried plantains, and an avocado salad. I recommend utilizing the limes, and trying the avocado salad simultaneously with the snapper. The meat platter came with chorizo, both links and pulled, fried pork belly, rice, a fried egg, red beans, sweet plantains, and avocado. Of the 3 meats, the links were my favorite. As for the 2 kinds of plantains, I definitely preferred the sweet over the fried. This was a solid meal, and you can't go wrong with any of other the menu options, either.
