It was a rainy Sunday afternoon and I'd just arrived after my flight from Miami. Was thrilled to see they have a new menu! Lots of vegetarian options added! And some surprise items added. The pork belly tacos were mentioned as a new item. Unusual for Mexico. I've only had them on Tybee Island, GA, at a foodie place. Complimentary chips and salsa were offered while I waited, but Inpassed on those, not wanting to spoil my hunger for the pork belly taco. They arrived - three on the plate. The pork was cooked nearly crisp to the edges but soft in the center. They were seated on a small amount of sauce. They were better than the ones on Tybee Island! So tasty! The food was overpriced and it was hard to find. If I had known it was part of the Intercontinental property, I wouldn't have bothered. Also, we were not allowed to sit at the tables located on the beach because they were for "huéspedes." I call complete BS. We should have just walked away and found a local joint. Lovely ambience. Ocean views available. It's outdoors but covered. Staff was friendly. We only went for breakfast but in spite of the many people who were staying here. Thry remembered our room number For breakfast there were some gluten free muffins and bar available, fresh juices, oatmeal, fresh in season fruit, potatoes, and a few other items. For everyone else there was an omelet bar, freshly made. Lots of waffles, pancakes, sausages, bacon, meat, beans, chips, salsa and more. Cost was $30 usd but there is a wide selection and you can take all you want. read more

PERFECT VIEW This restaurant is located behind the Presidente Intercontinental Hotel right at the edge of a beautiful beach. Place is big and can host many people. Food is great and affordable. Plus they have a small selection of craft beer. During our visit to the area we stopped here for a late lunch. The steak nachos we guards were very good. Seafood ceviche was delicious. We chased it all with couple craft beers from the area which is always a good addition to any lunch meal. read more

Good things: there weren't too many, but the atmosphere was fine and we did get a table near the beach. Octopus carpaccio was quite good. The rest: there was a very harried waiter who had to manage 16 tables by himself. All the customers were in various shades of angry at the slow service. I think the waiter did the best he could, but he really needed some help. The bread had been reheated in the microwave three or four times and was stale and stiff. He brought us salsa but forgot to bring tortilla chips. The Caesar salad had no flavor. There was about a tablespoon of mayonnaise on some Romaine lettuce. No anchovies or any garlic flavor at all. The tortilla soup was mediocre at best. The wine list is passable, but good luck on getting a wine by the glass brought to your table. Ugh. read more

This review is for the breakfast buffet only: this place offers the typical breakfast buffet served in Cancun hotels; fresh fruits, Mexican traditional breakfast dishes (Chilaquiles, frijoles, etc.), freshly baked breads, eggs any style, juices, etc. The fruits and juices are naturally sweet and taste great, and the other offerings are pretty good. I ate breakfast here. The dining area is open to and overlooks the ocean. Incredibly relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. The staff is plentiful, courteous and very attentive. Now for the food. The buffet is set out to cater to the tastes of international guests in Cancun as well those who want to taste some of the local flavors. The egg station prepares dishes to order and lists local options. I laugh at the "divorce": 2 eggs, one with geeen and one with red sauce. (Cancun being a big honeymoon destination) I visited the food stations multiple times to taste a little bit of everything. Lots of pork was in the local dishes and the sauces were excellent. This is my first trip to Cancun. The first thing I noticed was how incredibly nice and helpful the guest services people are. From the guy who checked me in, to Gonzalo our beach/pool bartender. He is friendly and introduced me to mezcal Montelobos. Wow. Daniel the sommelier introduced us to an amazing Mexican Savblanc, and even carried our bottle from the lobby to the restaurant. Such a nice guy. They all made me feel so welcomed and every time we crossed paths they would greet me by name. The beach bar also has the best beef nachos I have ever had. And had them a few times. The Shrimp tostada is also ridiculously delish, floating in a sauce that was so different and so good. A special call out to our pool waiter Mario who slipped on a drizzling day and severely hurt his ankle. We wish you a speedy recovery and uneventful surgery! Get well soon. We are staying next door at Beachscape and saw good reviews for this restaurant. While we weren't all that impressed with the menu (we were looking for steak), upon arrival and seeing the large amount of beach side tables I thought we could have dinner looking at the water like we do at our hotel restaurant. After waiting more than 5 minutes the host finally acknowledged us. He tried to sit us next to a family with a crying baby. When we asked if we could sit closer to the beach and away from the baby, he gave us attitude. We left. Very disappointing for an Intercontinental Hotel. We have great service at our own hotel restaurant, so we ended up having delicious steaks by the beach at Beachscape at La Palapa. read more

The fish tacos here are a bargain and delicious. The seafood tacos are also delicious, with wonderful roasted peppers, creme, and guacamole to accompany them. They also may be the most expensive tacos you will ever eat, at about $35usd or 750mxp for three tacos. They contain an amazing mix of shrimp, squid, and octopus. read more

There's much to agree with from previous reviews. Of the three courses that I ordered, I wish I had stopped at two- and not because I had eaten too much. The first thing I need to report is that the setting and the service were both really nice.That being said, the food was hugely inconsistent. I had lemon soup, a mixed green salad and a baked grouper. Soup was lovely, light and flavorful, although I am pretty much convinced that it was their tortilla soup plus a bit of lime juice and chicken. Still. Very good. They did bring bread and butter to the table, but it was definitely not the fresh bread others have had, and the butter sloppy in the sealed packets. The mixed salad was not on the menu but it was terrific. Mesclun mix, chopped vegetables plus avocado and hearts of palm. The entree was my real low point. The steamed rice was oily and the grouper (maybe) was so fishy that I could not taste the seasoning--and the fish was red with it. I can't even describe to you in words the meat that I received when I ordered a Surf & Turf. I'll try my best; It was shaped like a hamburger and was incredibly tough to chew. Not to mention it was maybe 3oz. I couldn't even finish 1/4 of it because there was no way it was actually beef. The drinks had absolutely no alcohol in them. We walked through like we owned the place, while thinking that we would get kicked out since we were not hotel guests ., We had tacos and enchiladas. I liked the food. We had a terrific meal tonight! We were not staying at the Intercontinental, but had read a good review and thought we would give it a try. I had the surf & turf sishkabob, my wife had the blackened grouper. Both were very well prepared, and looked and tasted fantastic! Our waiter, Javier, recommended a terrific Mexican Chardonnay, that paired very well and met our desires for an 'un-oaked' Chardonnay. We passed on appetizers to save room for dessert. The guava creme brûlée was outstanding as was the Tres Generales tequila that served as a digestif. Beautiful setting, great food, fantastic service and an all around terrific meal! This beach-front restaurant serves up great Mexican-Caribbean cuisine. The chef is very talented and makes great dishes that go far beyond Mexican-Caribbean. We ordered a pasta dish, chicken mole, blackened grouper, 3 different salads.... everything was delicious. I am actually pretty picky when it comes to food and I don't think there is any way to improve any of these dishes. The staff here is bilingual and that is a plus for me since my Spanish is pretty malo. Our server was Jimmy. He was great with recommending dishes and even served us special frozen towlets that were infused with an appealing scent. The weather was pretty humid and these really helped us freshen up before the meal. The restaurant is open to the outside environment, so on a humid day it might get a little sticky, but they have fans all over the ceiling to help keep you comfortable on those hot and humid days. Not only do I highly recommend this restaurant to others, but I can't wait to go back myself..... I love their guacamole... I almost ate the whole bowl all by myself!! If you call in advance, the restaurant can arrange for you to have a private table out on the sand. I did this for my family on the last night and WOW! it was a night we will all remember for the rest of our lives. SOOOO Romantic! Good value and good food. We are staying at the Intercontinental in Cozumel, and so far have had dinner and the buffet breakfast here. For dinner, the choices were limited but the food was good. And reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet had many choices, both Mexican and traditional US breakfast fare. Nice open atmosphere. read more

This place was really good to the all you can eat buffet to the best molcajete I ever had this place was so delicious we eat there everyday on our vacation my kids loved the retries beans. The staff were so nice and helpful always had a smile making sure we were ok. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Cancun. read more

First time there! View of the beach was great, hence the two stars! Very disappointed in the food! For a restaurant located on the coast, the seafood did not taste very fresh! Lobster was over cooked and very chewy! Claims were awful, very fishy tasting and tough to chew! The kids menu seem to be better than the dinner menu! Chalk this up as a lesson learned! If restaurant is empty, there could possibly be because the food isn't good! read more
