The service was impeccable, the atmosphere pleasant with an acoustic duo playing mellow tunes in the background. Honestly, we were a little disappointed with the view that most reviews rave about. Our sever was knowledgeable and made several suggestions. We selected the Pepita Crusted Tuna for a starter, my companion had the fresh catch which was grouper, blackened with a side of the peanut sauce. I chose the Surf and Turf. For dessert, we shared the Key Lime Pie. Everything was beautifully presented, and quite artistic. The tuna appetizer was very good, but the main courses were frankly a disappointment. The creativity of the plate did not make up for the lackluster food. The steak was tough and poorly seasoned, the lobster was just passable but also chewy and not tender. The fish was not as well cooked as other restaurants downtown and again the seasoning was lackluster. The sides, lentils and mashed potatoes were just ok. The homemade Key Lime Pie was enjoyable but again seemed to lack a depth of flavor. If the food could match the service, presentation, and atmosphere then perhaps this could be one of Isla's better dining establishments, until then "the juice was not worth the squeeze."

Every dish that was brought out was perfection. One of the first dishes that was placed in front of me was a bowl of green foam. Sounds horrifying, right? I reluctantly ate it and somehow, this foamed green soup was one of the world's greatest and most flavorful concoctions. After that, I knew I was in for a real treat with the rest of the menu. If Tempo can make foam into one of the most delectable foods, there's nothing they can't do. Naturally, being a tasting menu, the portions were small but due to the quantity of them, I left feeling satisfied. Every dish blended perfectly into the next one. It was like storytelling through food. The pricing was high for Mexico, but at $80 a person for the tasting menu, it was incredibly reasonable for such a high-class experience. Outside of Mexico, a meal as impeccable as Tempo's offering would easily be $200+ per person. I am dreaming of the day I can return and try the latest tasting menu. Whether you're staying at Paradisus or not, Tempo is a must while in Cancun.

And let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it! After enjoying resort food and drinks for 5 days, our palettes were graced with an absolutely delicious take on Latin fine dining. From the food to the service, we thoroughly enjoyed each carefully prepared dish that was bursting with flavor and complexity. We indulged in the wine-pairing along with our 7 course meal, and left completely satisfied. Our server was very kind and provided excellent service throughout the night (please forgive my memory -- I forgot his name.) But overall, we are so glad that we tried Tempo and it was worth the extra charge, despite being surrounding by several other all-inclusive restaurants! If you have the means to try Tempo during your stay at Paradisus Cancun, I highly recommend coming here. You won't regret it!
