The front of the restaurant. Food was so good we forgot to take a picture

We had such a great experience at El Camino Tacos! I didn't even get a chance to take pictures of the food because it was that good -- we started eating and completely forgot. We kicked things off with the queso and chips, which was the perfect appetizer. The queso was warm, creamy, and full of flavor, and the chips were fresh and perfectly crispy. So satisfying! I had the chicken tinga taco -- the chicken was shredded, full of slow-cooked flavor, and absolutely delicious. My husband got the wet taco, which looked amazing with melted cheese and a savory beef broth poured over the top. He couldn't stop raving about it! They have many options on the menu, which we appreciated. Not only was everything flavorful, but the portions were also super filling. We left feeling totally satisfied! The service was excellent, the space was very clean, and I loved the seating setup -- you can sit inside with a screened area for that fresh Minnesota air or enjoy the outdoor patio. It's also very kid-friendly, which is a huge plus for families (like us). The food is authentic, and the pricing was very reasonable for the quality and portions. We'll definitely be back -- this place is a new favorite!

Fried chicken, fajita, and tinga tacos

Found this in a search for tacos. The menu reminded me of Catrina's, where you choose a meat and then pick what you want it in (bowl, burrito, taco, etc). I tried the three chicken tacos (fried, tinga, and fajita). I thought the fajita was the best. I actually may change up the toppings, as they use lettuce, tomato, and cheese and on the tinga and fried chicken, these just didn't work for me. A slaw with some lime would be good on the fried chicken and some traditional cilantro and onion would be good on the tinga. Heading out, I saw a corn chowder on the menu that sounds out of this world, so I will be back to try that sometime!

Super Yummy tacos! I had the Wet Taco and the Shrimp and Bacon Taco. The queso was delicious as well with a kick "slightly above ketchup."

The burrito was very hefty, for me that is almost 4 meals. Loved that some entrees came with chips and guac. The spicy sauce that came with was very spicy so be careful but so delicious. The horchata was a bit disappointing, I've had it before but forgot what it was like, it just tasted like a sweet milk. No cinnamon taste. But it was still delicious. So easy to order at the kiosk. There are only a couple tables in the gas station if you want to eat in otherwise most people just take out. Few tables were set up outside too. The gas station is filled with drinks and snacks so it's easy to browse for extras while you wait for your food. It's a literal hole in the wall inside this gas station. I only wish the hours were better, whenever we get a craving for this it's always closed so we have to take advantage when they are open. Can't wait to try their other locations.

The kitchen is in a corner of the gas station interior next to the checkout - there's one kiosk to order at with a menu sign pasted above it and people usually stand around there waiting for their order to be fulfilled. Limited seating is across the room by the entrance, and if dining in they will bring the dish to you. I had chicken al pastor, fries, and horchata (not pictured) - chicken was dry that day. It only came with one tortilla, I'm used to receiving two tortillas per taco at other places! The fries were McDonald's texture with yummy seasoning on it. Overall good for a quick bite; if I were to come back I'd try a different entree next time.

The food is always solid. I love the carne asada tacos and the fajitas, especially the steak and chicken combo. The steak asada tacos are my favorite -- the beef is perfectly salted and so flavorful. I also enjoyed the chicken tinga tacos, which has a tomato-based adobo sauce. The barbacoa tacos were juicy but I would've liked a little more salt. Don't miss the condiment area, where you can get lime wedges and mild, medium, and hot salsas. The mild salsa wasn't spicy at all and added nice flavor to the tacos. The medium salsa isn't that spicy if you have a spice tolerance. The hot salsa is more hot than flavorful. Food is made quickly and service is friendly.
