A nice homely restaurant. The walls are covered with murals and meals served on actual plates is a nice touch. While it may not be a typical sit-down place, there is a sit-down feel (because of the real plates). I tried the breakfast burrito, which is loaded with eggs, beans, cheese, potatoes, ham, bacon and sausage. I asked for the beans to be excluded because that's just too much so early in the morning. The burrito will run you $4 and you will leave stuffed. The salsas are weak though and they only have two options; red and green. You can always douse your grub with Tapatio, but I expect more from Mexican restaurants. I expect them to offer many salsas and to make them from scratch. I was let down somewhat by their lack of attention to this particular detail. When I saw the wall murals and various decorations throughout the restaurant, I was hoping that the same attention to detail in regards to their ambiance would carry through to their food and condiments as well. I give this place a 5 stars because this place is so close to where I work and live by, the food is so delicious as well. I got the carne asada fries which were so good. There is two portions of it a 1/2 size which is a decent size for a quick bite too eat if your not too hungry and there's also a full size which is pretty big decent size. Love the decorations inside the place, I'm actually going tomorrow to get some carne asada fries can't wait. I've came here a few times and the food is tasty. Yesterday I ordered bacon breakfast burritos for myself and my coworkers. The burritos were fairly priced $6 a piece and pretty good size. The lady upfront was very friendly and customer oriented. They do not have a salsa bar however if you ask for salsa they have little containers. I personally preferred the green salsa. This place has terrible customer service. I began ordering and decided to change my mind two seconds later. The cashier rolled her eyes and sighed very loudly, at first I thought she was joking, but she was not. She began complaining that now the had to restart the cash register and wait for it to load because of my mistake. She continued to be rude about it. I remained calm. She rang me up. Nine dollars for a So called California burrito that only has meat and fries!! She then began speaking to the cook in Spanish about hair. The cook had asked her for a hair strand!!!!!!! Once I bought kearny Asada frys and they gave me old stale frys that cut my through up and I felt sick. They replaced my order and all was good. During Covid I had been calling in my order and when I picked up the food it was perfect beans to meet ratio. Lately I have been going in personally to order my food and ,every time, the guy would only give me beans in my Kearny Asada fries or nachos, even after tipping them and asking them to put more meat. They only gave me half an order and when I told them I wanted a full order they said they would correct issue with there being very little meat. They had the audacity to charge me the difference for the full order while the other half got cold. Then when I checked the other half that was just made I realize they only put beans and scraps of meat. I respectfully gave them back all the food and let them keep their money because I'd rather be the guinea pig so nobody else has to experience what I have experienced. Came here with a craving for carne asada fries. They have two sizes, full and half, and the half is a really good deal. The carne asada is really good (you can get chicken instead) but I was disappointed by the fries. Ended up also trying the rolled taco special (taquitos) and they were amazing! Please do not eat here! My wife ordered iced tea and it was literally rancid! When she got up screamed in horror at the taste and almost vomited I noticed the cooks in the back laughing. When we got up and asked for our money back they were indifferent about it and blamed Coca-Cola for not cleaning the machine. This is not Coca-Cola's job. Which means it has never been cleaned. I have been coming to El Bronco since I was a teen, which was a long time ago! lol I no longer live anywhere near this place but when I am traveling and passing by Oceanside, I make sure to stop by. I am a snob with my carna asada nachos and so for me to say this is one of my favorite places to get them, says a lot. They are so good! I no longer can eat the whole thing, so I order half and order and still get stuffed. I've seen this place go from a small taco shop, to a full restaurant and not back to a small taco shop but that doesn't stop the taste of the food. So good! read more

Solid California burrito!!! Got a burrito to go yesterday and when they handed me the to-go bag my hand almost broke off.. The burrito was HUGE!!! Got a couple sauces to go and headed home. The chips that came with it were just ok. couldnt tell what kind they were maybe corn chips?? Salsa had just enough kick to it to make the chips better. My burrito had nice crispy fries and fresh not too tough carne in it. The meat !! A++ The tortilla was soft and added to the greatness of this burrito. The burrito was just freakin huge so while I barely finished 3/4 of it my puppy gladly helped with the rest. It's a shame they don't offer negative stars on Yelp. I've tasted better Mexican food from Taco Bell. The salsa is watered down pico, my camarones took 30 minutes to make and my wife's food (#4) was bland. We didn't even finish our meal. We took one bite and left it on the table. Awesome California burritos!! It taste like real Mexican food and for about 7 dollars the buritto comes in at 8 inches big, its awesome! Definitely not healthy but with or without sour cream this burrito is delicious and its big enough to make anyone full. I would give them 5 stars but the cashier is horrible, I always get suck with the same girl, maybe she is the owners daughter or something but she is not friendly. She is not polite and just wants to get you out of her way asap, you don't feel like a customer when you deal with her. My family and I are long time customers at this place. We come every Saturday morning for chilaquiles. We recently went and they were the worst chilaquiles we have ever had. They had absolutely no salsa and the beans were spilled everywhere on my plate. We are going to stop going to this place due to being over priced Mexican food for what you get. I had the breakfast burrito with sausage, and it was pretty disappointing. The tortilla was flaking apart, probably because it was not fresh. It was also poorly wrapped and falling apart. There was virtually no cheese or sausage either--and the eggs were overcooked. To their credit, it was very clean and it looks like they spent quite a bit on their electronic-looking menu that sat above the register. I also liked that they would not serve me the salsa roja because their refrigeration unit went out and it was supposedly spoiled. They looked fine to me, but I respect them for erring on the side of caution. Which reminds me--the salsa verde they gave me instead was super good! I feel bad giving Super Bronco such a low rating because they've been around forever and obviously have some potential. This is our favorite, local Mexican food place. From the carne asada fries to the camerones ala diabla, chicken soup to rolled tacos, breakfast burritos to fish tacos. They could only be better if they had a drive thru. Otherwise, I'd take them over every other Mexican fast food place. Portions are pretty big, though the prices have taken a bit of a leap over the years. Unlike several other places, they maintain this restaurant well so it doesn't look like a dump, and even have a bit of a theme (can't think of what it is right now) going on. This place is okay. Didn't pick up the food but had a coworker do a food run. Had the number 18 breakfast burrito and their 3 rolled tacos with guac and cheese. The breakfast burrito was good, but I wish the potatos were more like HOMEFRIES like MXN in San Marcos. I also didn't like beans in my burrito and I wouldn't have gotten it if I had known it was in it. It was still pretty filling though. Rolled Tacos were good. What raised their rating to 4 star was the quality of the guac: very fresh! Their salsa is a little on the watery side and it was OKAY. Been coming here since the 90's when it was located on the other side of the parking lot next to the gas station that is no longer there. My favorite is the 5 rolled taco special. I'm so surprised by the so-so reviews for this place. My father and I had been coming here for years since I was young, some 15 years ago. We just recently visited California this past April and had to drive to Oceanside to eat here again. Living on the east coast--I think western coast people really take for granted the amount of good Mexican food they have at their fingertips. We LOVED it. My whole family, including my new husband enjoyed carne asada and guacamole burritos, and we shared the chicken flautas. The tortillas they use are so so yummy, soft, chewy, amazing. And the flautas were cooked to perfection. Crispy and covered in guac, cheese, lettuce, and sour cream. Yum! $6 bucks for a giant burrito filled with JUST steak and guac? Unheard of around my area. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for some authentic Mexican food for great prices :) read more

Although it doesn't seem as good as when I was a kid, Bronco is still reliable. I tend to get carne asada and cali burritos but was bummed when I remembered the cali doesn't come with guac. Their carnitas and Carne Asada tends to be on the dry side but not bad. I also remember the breakfast burritos being really big and filled with big hunks of potato. Delicious! Accommodating counter girl and owner. I'm surprised to find the bad reviews because the people were so patient and kind as I took my time with what to order. I am vegetarian and try not to eat cheese either so they showed me options and were really nice! This will be my new spot for Mexican in Vista. The food is ok -- i've tried a few different items on the menu over the years and the quality varies both item to item or day to day. The real reason this place deserves 1 star is because the customer service is absolutely horrible, and the owner has made the place the most uninviting restaurant i've ever been in. They seem to exclusively employee extremely unfriendly girls at the counter who could not possibly care less about their crappy jobs or helping customers. The restaurant is covered in tons of handwritten signs (presumably written by the owner) of various "rules" the owner imposes on the customer-- it's very unwelcoming and makes customers feel like invaders in a place of business. There are also ridiculous fees and surcharges like $1 for credit/debit, and even worse $1 FOR A SODA REFILL. Come on man, this is 2016, charging that much for a soda refill is just bad business. Next they'll be charging customers to use the bathroom. Explains why the place is more or less empty the few times i've been in. The food is overpriced trash and the customer service sucks, which in my book makes this place skippable. read more

I've been here maybe a dozen times within a 4 year span since working in the area. The shrimp and carne asada dishes I have tried were pretty good. However this place is overpriced and on top of that they nickel and dime you to death. You are charged extra for example: $1 for using a credit card, $1-2 for drink refills, and extra for additional salsa also. read more
