El Basha is consistently good. I have been going here for years and a place I worked at years ago would even get El Basha to cater our company parties. The Humus wrap is one of my favorites. As others have said in reviews... it can sometimes be a bit messy, but well worth it. It has the even amount of veggies and hummus. Other favorites are the chicken shawarma wrap and the lamb kabab entree. The lamb kabab is really tasty, it comes with rice and your choice of soup or salad. I have been here a few times now. It's a self-serve sorta place, and the prices are a tad high ($8-9 per entree) for lunch, but the food, when the chef is right, the food is awesome. I had the beef shwarma salad yesterday ($9), and while I wasn't a fan of the sesame dressing the salad was delicious. The gyros and shwarma wraps are also very good. Omahans are very lucky to have this little gem right in the heart of the city. I am even luckier El Basha is a 7 minute drive from my home. We order dinner from El Basha at least once a month. I don't know what to recommend. We've had everything on the menu several times over and enjoy all. If you like Mediterranean food you need to try El Basha. You order and pay at the counter and your meal is delivered to your table. A staff person delivers your food to your table. We stopped in on a recent Tuesday night and sat on their lovely patio. Awesome Lebanese food, and pretty reasonable prices, too. Decent decor and great service for a place located in a strip mall. As other reviewers have noted, the produce is very fresh and everything is flavorful. I stopped in for lunch and had a chicken shawarma wrap, and everything was perfect. I am looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. The potato salad is a must-try. It doesn't seem loaded with fat like most restaurant mashed potatoes. My husband and I really wanted to try this place and were very happy we did. First off, whom ever set up this yelp profile did not categorize it correctly. It's Mediterranean food...hence the full name El Basha Mediterranean Grill. Now we have been twice in two weeks, so far my husband has had the gyro combo and chicken shawarma and liked them both. He really liked the chicken but thought the gyro was a tad lack luster. I have had the humus (creamy and yummy), Greek salad and the falafel combo. The fries on the combo were pretty awesome, the Greek salad was fresh and gigantic and the falafel was pretty authentic. They put tahini on the falafel, I prefer tzatziki myself so I asked for a side of that instead. As for the pickles, they were definitely home made. Just so nobody thinks they cracked open a jar of Hyvee pickles. The pita bread is of the thin variety but it is very much like the type that I have always been served in California. It wasn't until I moved here that I saw puffy pita bread for the first time, so I guess it's just a matter of preference. All in all, I loved the music and the authentic feel and we both thought the food was fresh and high quality. Really good! We enjoyed dinner at El Basha for the first time and we were pleased at the quality of food and size of portions. (Two complete dinners with drinks for $21.) The plates are very small, they don't do hummus on the side, the "potato salad" is most definitely not potato salad. The chicken shawarma tastes almost identical to a snack wrap from McDonald's so it might be best to go there. The lentil soup does not taste very good. Overpriced for very mediocre food at best. Overall, you get a lot of food for what you pay for. Red lentil soup, drink, entree for about $12 or so. I haven't tried their appetizers, but I did have their combination grill and lamb entrees. I just left this place for the second time this week trying to purchase a gift card. On Monday, I ordered a gyro to go, and asked for a $25.00 gift card. They rang my credit card (after erroneously charging me tax for the gift card), and they said their gift card machine wasn't working. They paid me cash for the transaction, I paid cash for my gyro and left for the day. Today, I called ahead to make sure the gift card machine was working...it was they said. I get there, wait in line AGAIN, only to find they are out of gift cards. I will never step foot in this place again, and will make sure I tell everyone I know about the experience I had. read more

Spending a long weekend in Omaha and we were just seeking a casual dining experience as a change of pace. We settled on El Basha. What a fantastic surprise! The food was great and the seasoning was just right. Omaha is probably a place where people expect perfect beef. Here the salad was great, the meats were slow cooked and juicy and the seasoning was distinctive but not overpowering. Strongly recommended for price and quality!! read more

This place rocks!!! Whether you're dining in or taking it to-go, they never disappoint. I lived right behind this place for 4 years and it was became a staple in my restaurant merry-go-round after moving in. I'd get to-gos from them regularly and they were always perfect. I've eaten in several times as well and would highly recommend sitting on the patio for dinner, followed by a hookah shared with friends after. It doesn't get much better than that. I only had a gyro combo, which is essentially the burger and fries of ethnic cuisine, but it was solid! Steak fries +1 Delicious yogurt sauce +1 Solid pita +1 Tasty strips of gyro meat +1 Plentiful onion and tomatoes +2 = delicious meal. My one complaint is that there was no way for me to eat it with my hands.. too much goodness packed into a small pita. With that being said, I could have removed some innards and packed it in. I was looking for a good lunch spot in this part of town so thought I'd check this out. Shwarma sounded good - Iron Man wouldn't lead me astray, would he? This one was a big miss for me. I got the beef shwarma with rice. The yellow rice was good and, um, did I mention the rice? The beef in the shwarma tasted like liver. I guess liver is sorta beef? I absolutely LOVE this place. A few vegan options, which is nice. The falafel wrap is the best in town and they even have homemade pickles in the wrap. I also love the baba ghanoush (it's like hummus but made with eggplant) served with warm pita bread. I ate here a few years ago and really enjoyed it so I was excited to go back and bring a friend. However I was pretty disappointed by the meal. I ordered the falafel combo with the lentil soup. The soup was good, and the most flavorful part of the meal. The potato salad that came with the combo did not have any flavor. The falafel wrap was also fairly under seasoned. We live 80 miles away and often stop here when in omaha. The have great service and the food is always fresh and exciting.

The chicken was tender and had a great seasoning combined with pickles and garlic dressing! Was disappointed I couldn't try the beef shawarma so I'll have to come back next time and try it out. We order takeout from El Basha regularly. Everything I've eaten here was delicious except for the eggplant moussaka. My very favorite dish is the chicken shawarma dinner. But I wish they included more mushrooms! Usually only get a small one or half of a large one; but that bite is too die for! We went here at the tail-end of the lunch rush. The food was great! The lentil soup was a good starter as well. The flavor was a little bland but overall it was good and obviously pretty healthy too. The gyro was still extremely moist and had a great flavor. It came with potato salad which was not mayo based and had a great taste as well. Overall this was a great meal with decent service. One of my co-workers did not get his salad until after he received his entree, and we had to ask for a table to be cleared so we were able to fit our party of six. As stated previously though, we caught it at the tail end of the lunch rush. Every table was filled when we walked in. The best hummus and falafels out there! They do have a small staff so when they are super busy it takes some extra time but it's worth it.

I LOVE their beef shawarma and it's probably the most popular item on the menu, but don't dare expect them to have it every time you go there. It's about a 40/60 chance of it actually being available. If that's what you want, call ahead first before making the trip. It's honestly really annoying - if they're always running out of it, then they need to take it off their regular menu and offer it as a special, or just get their s*it together and keep more on hand. read more
