    Tabouli salad and lentil soup
    Dean J.

Told my son in law that I wanted something special for lunch on my visit to Omaha. We went to El Basha for lunch. When we pulled up the line was out to the door with every table filled. The food did not disappoint. You order at the counter, get a number and sit down. We ordered the lamb kabob platter, lentil soup, tabouli salad, and gyro salad. Lamb was seasoned very well and cooked perfect medium. Gyro salad was good with nice amount of sauce. The star of the show was the lentil soup. The favor was off the chain good and I wanted to lick the bowl 5 of 5 stars all day

The food is incredible and flavorful and beautiful. The restaurant is small, so get in early!

Picked up some items to go, don't think I really knew what I was getting. Really wasn't that great, can't say I'll be back. To be fair the hummus and baba ganoush were really good on their pita.

After arriving here after a long day on the road, this dinner was very disappointing. The onions were huge and way too strong. All of the food was overly salted without any other flavor. The entire gyro meal was just lukewarm - the fries in particular were barely cooked and tasted like oily, hard potatoes. I really wanted this place to be better.

Went once and it immediately became one of my Omaha favorites. I love this cute little space. The food is quite reasonably priced and the portions are quite generous- we got two sandwiches with fries and hummus with pita for $30 with a tip. My only complaint is that the space is a bit cramped. It's charming in a way but it's a bit difficult to navigate. The soda machine has a server station right on top of it.

first time trying this place it was recommended by a friend. Now I will say once I arrived I was befuddled when I observed the frolic coming from the long line at the door but after getting my food I understood. The young lady running the cash register was quick and polite when taking my order she explained a couple of items on the menu that I was unfamiliar with. The location is a very intimate space so if you don't like crowded spaces I would recommend to get your order to go or visit the restaurant during the week when there is less people. There were about three people running the restaurant so please be patient as the cashier had to also bring out the orders. The food is definitely an acquired taste I enjoyed it considering I never had Mediterranean food before. Small businesses are important to support and I will definitely go back. Plenty of parking and also there was a handicap spot closer to the door. The location was easy to find.

    Kafta kebab with rice

Food is delicious! But they forgot the soup. Choice of indoor or outdoor ( weather permitting). There's a wait but not bad.

Someone had a hankering for Mediterranean and I was just along for the ride! Usually we share entrees but I wasn't feeling chicken schwarma and he wasn't feeling kafta. Say no more! Daily specials come with soup or salad, and we both opted for their killer salad! Fresh, decent portions, excellent dressing, spices, and thinly sliced onions, a bit of purple cabbage, and tomatoes. The hubs snagged the chicken schwarma over rice ($13.99), with grilled yellow/green peppers, onions, tomatoes, and drizzled with tahini sauce. Their rice? Always a plus in our book; so fragrant and paired well with the choice of protein and veggies. Plate was empty when we left! I choice the kafta kebab over rice ($12.99) with a tahini drizzle, thinly sliced onions, purple cabbage, thinly sliced tomatoes, and a trickle of garlic sauce. The kebab was grilled just right; not dry and not overly greasy, either. Paired perfectly, again! I'm telling ya, that rice gets me every time. Unfortunately there was a rather long piece of hair laying across it and noticed it after bite two. Daily specials are also served with a fountain drink; which is self served, self refills too. While you're there getting your soda, lemonade or unsweetened tea on make sure you grab your silverware! Napkins and some condiments are already on the tables.

One of the best places for Mediterranean food in Omaha super helpful staff and the food is delicious. Restaurant is clean.

It's been a number of years since my last visit to El Basha. One thing is consistent is they serve great Mediterranean food. I had the gyro salad and it was wonderful. Gyro meat was moist and the salad dressing was a nice compliment. I noticed a hint of mint. Oh that rhymed :). I should frequent this restaurant more as the food it good and the staff is always very friendly. Overall a great experience and will plan to return.

Amazing lentil soup. My go to dish is shrimp and grilled veggies. Only place I would recommend the Turkish coffee.

For a small town like Omaha it was very nice to find a Middle East restaurant... maybe you don't crave it often, but we will be back

Solid Mediterranean fare in Omaha. To be honest, it's probably the best in Omaha. Recommend calling ahead

I was clearly wrong, there is a such thing as a perfect sambusa. The bread was thin enough to taste it, but not so bready that the bread was the star. The meat was chopped steak not ground meat and the sambusa was stuffed full, 4 of them is a whole meal. And the filling was full of flavor, layers of flavor, it alone is a reason to eat there. Also the kebab was served with a perfectly dressed fresh tomato, red onion and cucumber salad and the pilav was served with a perfectly dressed lettuce, red onion and tomato salad. The Pilay was pretty good, the meat was a bit dry, but the flavors in the rice was on point and the garbanzo beans were creamy and flavorful, not slightly sandy and garbanzos can be. They definitely did not come from a can. That kebab, whew THAT KEBAB, was off the chain and they served it with a red sauce that seemed simple but flavorful with a little kick, I think I ate more bread than anything because I was dipping my bread in that red sauce. The service was friendly and the decor was comfortable and welcoming and colorful. I will definitely be back. And it was affordable, 2 entrees, a side, order of bread and green tea was $47 before tip.

We started with the appetizer sampler and it was amazing! It has everything you want and things you didn't know you needed! The hummus and tabbouleh are wonderful but the stars of the plate are the pita and the beet salad for me. The beets are in a creamy dressing and just so craveable. The hummus is nice and smooth, the tabbouleh has so much herb and is so fresh. I only wished for a bit more lemon. The baba ganoush was really good but was a bit over smoky so a little bit at a time was good. The cucumber dip was amazing as well. We then proceeded to the main event - salads, fries, and falafel. Caesar (entree size only) and side dinner salad with a sherry vinaigrette were nice but nothing special. Then the French fries and falafels... fresh and hot!!! Crispy! Fluffy!! And when we broke into the falafels, we were so excited to see GREEN!!! They had HERBS inside!! And the tahini sauce on the side was so delicious. I want that for my salad dressing AND dipping sauce for the fries (although the cucumber dip is amazing on them too!) so much food for two girls so many boxes were needed. It was closing time therefore dessert was togo- baklava. Large triangle. Very delicious. We sat at the bar and I believe we were served by the Lady of the House (Owner). She was incredibly welcoming and we had a joyful conversation about kids and good foods. Oh... did I mention they offer Armenian wine? Yup. Red was my choice and although it was a little sweet, it went well with all the flavors of our meal. Maybe next time I'll try the white....

My beef salad tasted amazing! I was surprised at how good the flavor of the dressing was on the salad, and although it was a pretty simple salad, it was definitely a large and filling enough meal for me with the amount of beef that came on top. I also got the extra grilled vegetables, and these were delicious! Kind of a surprise to see it. It was just one large piece of each vegetable, but it was still plenty of food, and worth the charge for me. The environment is pretty simple in plain, definitely feels like a hole in the wall spot. The restroom is past the kitchen, so you get a good view into the front of house and back of house stations. Overall, this was a great meal, although just a little too pricey in my opinion. My total is $28 for this meal (no drink), which included the tip (they write it in for you.)
