This is our go-to when we're in Brighton. Service is always great, they have a nice array of taco fillings and good salsa - and their margaritas are spectacular. Do try the brussels sprout taco (No, seriously) and the hibiscus margarita (and then get some more to take home). They also make fresh chicharrones which is always a pleasure to find on a menu. Also appreciate that everything is really well labeled for dietary allergies and preferences! Makes us feel extra well looked after when we come. read more

Great taqueria - fun feel and friendly staff. Highly recommend the loaded queso to start or a trio of salsa. I tried three different tacos: Brussels sprout tacos (don't laugh, they are amazing! Flash fried and complemented by a honey ancho sauce. I couldn't love a vegetable more. The Chorizo taco was delicious-a little spicy but perfect. The Al pastor taco had large chunks of smoked pork, sweet pineapple and fresh jalapeño. My husband is a bit of a connoisseur of giant wet burritos and he gave this two thumbs up with a nod to the chihuahua cheese. We will be bagging some fresh churros to take home! read more

Hanna waited on us, she was nice. Ordered chips and trio: salsa, guacamole and cheese dip. 4 chicken tacos, 3 fish, 2 cactus and a chorizo taco. Trio and chips hit the spot, so hungry and it curbed my hunger a bit until the tacos arrive. The chips came on a tray. The cheese dip was velveety like and good. The guacamole and salsa were both just okay, not enough flavoring for me though. The Spanish rice has a Smokey flavor and taste to it, it's nice. The chicken tings was chunks of chicken, not shredded, wasn't bad. The cactus taco was good, liked the corn, sweet pickled onions and the jalapeño. The chorizo taco tasted fine, but was very oily and super messy. The fish tacos were okay, that was one big chunk of fish. read more

I'm not sure how I haven't reviewed this yet. It's a must try if you're ever in Brighton! The space is small so if you're a large group, you may want to call ahead and see how busy they are. The margaritas are crafted with a homemade margarita mix. It's got a nice flavor. Not too sweet like store bought ones. If you like spice, then make sure you get the Spivey margarita! I'm personally a Paloma fan. They make theirs with grapefruit juice and I prefer soda so I have them use grapefruit Jarritos instead of the juice. I've done that twice now and it's worth the extra cost to me. Their trio dip appetizer is good. You get a ton of chips with guacamole, queso, and salsa! Their queso is really good!! My favorite taco is honestly The Gringo! They stuff it with so much meat that I do good with one after eating the chips! The chicken tinga is good too, but it has crema in it and I didn't see that when I read the menu. I'm not a fan of creama. Let's talk about the churros! Fresh fresh fresh! So freaking good. They are smaller, about 3 bites per churro. They give you a lot of them in the order. There is a chocolate sauce for dipping. The sauce was ok. It was a little thin so didn't really stick to the churro. They'd be amazing with Nutella! Or, it would be cool to have a sauce option! I've always had excellent service. The staff are all very nice and attentive. I think an accurate review is 4.5 stars because they are not "perfect", but because I can't, I round up for being close to perfect! read more

How great is this place? For two years, we have drove 45 mins here once a week for the tacos. That should say a lot. If I hear of anyone who is driving past Brighton, I tell them they must stop here & get the best tacos they'll have. My favorite is the brussels sprout tacos & we always get the trio. The food comes so fast & is always fresh. The bartenders are so personable and always remember your drink when they see you. This place has been consistently great for years. We stopped in last night after a cheer competition in Lansing. It was random and we called ahead to which they replied they could put us on the list even though we were 20 mins away. Right away when we got there the host was amazing and even apologized to the table not being ready. We were going to be at tables next to each other since it was two families however they made it happen and put our table together. The whole meal was delicious! Julia S and as so patient with the kids and gave great suggestions on the menu. The trio and chips is great and can be shared ! Many of the people in the party loved the bowl and for me being 9 months pregnant they even made me a spicy non alcoholic margarita with a tajin rim! Additionally, the roasted Brussels sprouts taco is a must try ! Overall we loved this place , the price for the quality of the food and just overall experience. Great little restaurant. They have a cool bar area, outside seating or you can order from their walk up window (genius idea! Who doesn't want tacos to go!) Their food is good and consistent. The Brussel sprout taco is hands down one of the best tacos I've ever had. They put some sort of magic in there and the flavor is Seems weird, just order it and you'll thank me later! The chorizo taco is also good. The other tacos are decent, nothing to write home about. Which is the reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars. I wish every taco was bursting with as much flavor as the brussel sprout one. But don't get me wrong. It's a good restaurant and I love it here. And the hibiscus margarita it is so good! They sell their margaritas in take home 6 pack cans. You'll want to take some home after you try! read more

Where the chips aren't free, and the tacos all come Ala Cart. Loaded QUESO was good. Enchiladas didn't have cheese inside them- only cotija cheese on the top. Had tacos from here quite a while ago, but ate outside that time, so waited to review until we dined in. Went during happy hour and they had $3 beer, and $6 margaritas which already made the visit nice. There was also a happy hour special on a half tray of nachos. We split that and added some chicken tinga tacos which were quite yummy. The meat marinade was spot on. I was worried that the single taco shell wouldn't hold up to the filling, but it survived! I will return to try other tacos. Wish they had campechana tacos instead or straight chorizo. The missing star is due to the fact that there is a very small amount of seating on the first floor(about 14 seats) and the guest I was with couldn't do stairs. We lucked out and got a table on the first floor, but this might be an issue for handicapped patrons. The service was great and they can't magically make more room on the first floor, I'm just warning others. read more

Went to dinner at 8pm with a friend and our server was rude and seemed annoyed we were there even tho they close at 9 and we ordered immediately so we didn't stay past close. Food was good but everything was ice cold. Drinks were good too but the service and cold food definitely makes us not want to come back especially for the price. read more

Soooo good! I feel like I've been to a few taco places and this is one of the best - if not, the best - I've ever had. I had a shrimp taco, a fish taco, and a pork taco. The shrimp taco had cucumber slices and tasted very fresh. The fish taco was grilled fish which also tasted fresh. The pork taco was also very good and not at all greasy like some other pork tacos I've had. We went on a Saturday night and the wait was also about 25 mins, which is very reasonable for a weekend. It's also very easy to walk up to the bar to order a drink while you wait. read more

We are here from AZ, visiting our friends for a couple of days, and they asked if we wanted to try out this little Mexican restaurant. We figured this wouldn't stand up to what we have back west but we would give it a go. Needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised. The food was definitely not our "on the border" kind of Mexican. But a great eclectic mix with fabulous flavors. If you are looking for straight up tacos or nachos, look elsewhere. But if you want great taste and something just a little outside the box, give El Arbol a shot. There was nothing that we tried, 5 different tacos, the trio, (nachos of a sort) or the margaritas that we could complain about. With the exception that we could eat more. I wish we we going to be here longer so that we could pop in once more, but there is always next time. read more

Brand new to the Brighton, MI food scene! The crew there is producing some excellent flavor unlike anything the Howell/Brighton area has seen. Not a huge menu but very good. Mainly open faced corn tortilla tacos, they also have nachos, tostadas, salad, quesadillas...The chorizo and fish (Mahi Mahi-grilled) tacos were excellent! The Carne Asada (shredded beef) was a very odd flavor/inedible and I grew up in Southern California, so I get Mexican. For those who grew up with authentic Mexican flavors they even have the beverage, Horchata (comprises of cinnamon/rice/milk flavors). They do have a kid's menu which is comprised of a few items (like a ground beef taco/cheese quesadilla) These are decent size for a kid's menu and very good also! The only downside to our first visit was that we had to wait nearly an hour. Other folks walked in the front entrance and did not check in with the host/hostess and sat at our table they had just cleaned off. That resulted in about an additional 1/2 hour wait. We told the staff no problem but there should be better signage so everyone understands that they will sit you. Great place overall! read more

I was walking by and noticed the new taqueria digs. Out for a stroller ride with my little boy I noticed their takeaway window and thought I'd take a few tacos home to my wife. I love the concept of a streetside taco window. The girl who took my order was really nice and the food came up quickly packaged nicely and off we went. I ordered a chorizo, and al pastor and a fish taco. All tasted really fresh with beautiful ingredients and they were stuffed full. The dual corn tortillas is a nice touch. The chorizo was the favorite... really flavorful. The other two needed just a little something extra but they were fantastic too. We really want to come to eat inside and get the full experience. El Arbol... you look good on Brighton. It's nice to see something new and out of the ordinary in town. read more

If you know me, you know I love tacos. I love creative and unusual tacos and I love plain ole ground beef tacos and everything in between. I was super excited when this place popped up on a recent search for Brighton restaurants. We were going to be in the area on a Sunday and wanted to grab a late lunch. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. They have seating on the main level and on a second floor overlooking the main level. We decided to sit at the bar for some friendly conversation and recommendations. We started with the salsa trio. I'm a firm believer that a lot can be told by the chips and salsa. In this case, both of them were great, especially the verde salsa! I ordered 2 tacos and a side of rice. Oddly enough, the rice was super good. I mean, it's just rice right? But the spices and the tomatoes and cilantro on top was really tasty. It was a large side, perfect to share. I had one of the special tacos - grilled octopus and one gringo taco (ground beef). All of the tacos are served on double corn tortillas but you can request flour - by really, why would you do that? My husband got the wet burrito and it was huge and delicious! He finished the second half of it the following day for lunch. My tacos were eaten in one setting and they were delicious! The octopus was not chewy at all and was very fresh tasting. And the plain ole ground beef taco was tasty and not greasy at all. It was a very enjoyable meal and I know we will be back. If you like funky modern spaces and friendly people and of course delicious Mexican food you will love this place. They opened last year and survived the pandemic. As things are starting to reopen and more people are going out to eat, I predict this place is going to become hugely popular, which makes me happy for them because they deserve it! read more

I have so many things to say about this place that I don't know where to start. First of all omg the mural outside is beautiful and so perfect for the spot. What a great way to add color to downtown! Props to the owners. Second, the inside decor is amazing! Great balance of textures, colors and great lighting. Love the little Frida Khalo book! And lastly, the food was great! Can't complain. Steak cooked to perfection for the tacos. I requested avocado on my tacos which was a great decision. I was disappointed they had ran out of horchata. Will have to get it next time. I didn't like that the sauce was premixed w the steak but it didn't taste bad. Definitely would love to come back and sit at the bar. It looked welcoming. read more

Being from Southern California where Mexican food is practically a religion, I am super picky (possibly can be read as super judge-y) about Mexican food. It's also in my top 3 favorite foods, so that only adds to the intensity I feel about it. That being said, El Arbol is probably now in my top 3 for Mexican in Southeast Michigan. Decor is simple and cute, staff is friendly and helpful. Service was very prompt and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time, tasting really hot and fresh. We shared steak nachos, some tacos (which are ordered individually), jicama slaw, and a side of rice. We ended up getting three tacos so we could try a variety...Brussels sprout, Al pastor, and chicken tinga. The Brussels sprout was a surprise favorite of the tacos. Amazing flavor, very unexpected and unique. The chicken tinga was my second favorite and the Al pastor was yummy as well with the pineapple, but just happened to be third on three since they were all so good. The nachos....yum. Cheese sauce, pickled jalapeños, etc were all super delicious. Steak was little on the tough side, but still tasty. I think I'd try chicken nachos next time, but would basically order that same meal over and over again. Also want to try the churros. Definitely next time. Looking forward to going back. read more

I was positive that I posted a review for El Arbol long ago! It's one of my absolute favorite places to eat in SE Michigan. I have several favorites, of course, but let's talk El Arbol ... drum roll ... their tacos are so tasty! Have you tried the Brussels Taco? No?? You're totally missing out. The Carne Asada Taco? You haven't tried that one either? Oh gosh, order one of those too. Plus the Shrimp taco with (I think) mango salsa? Oh that's fantastic! Now, yesterday I had the Fish Taco and I was completely underwhelmed but hey! It's an off night in the kitchen, maybe! But those nachos! Wow! Someone in our party ordered them and there was a mountain of nacho-y goodness. The drinks were great. It's always a fun atmosphere. The Day of the Dead decor doesn't do much for me but that's okay, the staff is airways friendly and the food is timely no matter how busy they are. I got a bag of chips and random cups of toppings to make my own nachos. Black beans were missing. For the price of this, I could have gone to the grocery store and bought the same ingredients.
