Past Saturday me and 2 others went dancing Salsa at this little restaurant in reference to a promoter's birthday. After we got there, we were getting hungry so we decided to try out the food and ordered about like 3 Soft Tacos according to the menu a total of $7.99. To make this short, we asked for some water instead they turned around and brought us bottles of water cost about $3 each. When we explained that we wanted regular water, and we did not want the items. They staff further went back changed the food order and brought us back a $20 dish instead. I came to El Aguila yesterday only because of the sign they have posted outside regarding the Happy hour special for flavored margaritas and mojitos. So after waiting 10 minutes for someone to even acknowledge me, the lady tells me the special is only margaritas and beer. I mentioned the sign outside and she had no clue what I was referring to and kept saying no. False advertising. So then I asked the waitress for a medium crab and shrimp quesadilla. I was unsure if the size would be big enough so I went back and forth between a medium and a large but ultimately decided on a medium, and she repeated that back to me. I know restaurants are struggling. I understand we must support our local restaurants or they will not remain open. But, our return experience didn't hold a candle to our first. Food is reasonable. My issue was with the liquor costs which were OUTRAGEOUS!!!! $ 22.95 for a large Margarita. I sat at the bar and watched the bartender make the drink. By no means was it worth the cost. Double Crown Royals are $20.00, the problem is, the bartender made it in the exact same glass as on our last visit. It was impossible for a double to be an adequate pour and put in that glass. It wasn't close to being a double and for those of you who were never a bartender...a double is never twice as much, only the price. What a rip off. Went here on A Tuesday night around 8 and had the whole place to ourselves! not a soul in there. We were able to find street parking, perfect. My friend had bought a groupon for $15 dollars that got you $30 worth of food. So I ordered a salad and my friend ordered quesadillas. I really didn't want to give one star, because the food was good, and waitresses were pretty nice and attentive . BUT I had a Groupon , which says 1 per person limit , 1 per visit . My friend had 1 Groupon voucher for himself . When we tried to pay and presented our vouchers they refused to take both , just one, explaining it with 1 voucher per table, which doesn't say ANYWHERE in a fine prints on a Groupon. In a minute the owner of the place came to our table , and was EXTREMELY rude, he didn't want to even listen to us , or try to solve the issue. When I was showing him the voucher on my phone , and what it says he GRABED MY PHONE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION AND LEFT WITH IT !!!!! With my phone ! He came back yelling, that they will not except the voucher and we have to pay the whole bill after deducting just 1 Groupon . Not good. Service was bizarre. Got waters then no one came back for about 15 minutes. We ordered our food and she comes back with the check. So we haven't eaten yet but are paid in full. Good start I ordered the salmon covered in sauce with shrimp and scallops over the top. It also came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. We waited around 45 minutes for our food. Potatoes were ok - the reason for 2 stars instead of 1 The salmon was over cooked, rubbery on top and fairly tasteless. I had to salt it up pretty good. The sauce has been spoken about in other posts. Mine was similarly bad. I also did notice that after only a few minutes the sauce was clearly separating into different pools of substance. One was butter the other two I have no idea - perhaps cream and grease My son asked to taste the salmon. After a feeble attempt to dissuade him he went in for it anyway only to later say I've had better salmon at Mission BBQ (In fact I've tasted the salmon from Mission and it's not bad) Asparagus was undercooked and rubbery from stem to tip. Other notable features: Not Tex Mex. At all Little pricey $27 for my plate $29 for my sons mixed fajitas. Service was underwhelming - maybe 5 tables with what was basically a platoon of waiters on hand. Mashed potatoes were good Serving off a very basic one page Mothers Day menu. I have no idea about the food. I had an expired Groupon, and tried only to use the $15 I originally paid; as the Groupon says, that value never expires. I tried to use it for takeout. I was told it was honored for dine-in only. But I needed to get home to my family. The Groupon I held in my hand did not say that. "The Rules" and "The Fine Print" only said it could not be used for the buffet. I was only trying to use the $15 I already paid them. And I would have purchased more than the $15. I would have tipped well. And I might have even returned, (to dine in!!) if I liked the food. Not now. So I purchased a group on deal and decided to come here with family . It was kind of empty it took forever to get us food . Drinks were okay . Margaritas were full with ice and no salt on the side . Customer service not so great . Took forever to get us anything with a little attitude . Food was okay . I don't think I be coming anytime soon back .Also my taco salad didn't have beans .The pasta was suppose to come with Alfredo sauce and it was just plain pasta with shrimps and huge chunks of carrots . However, I don't think I can up it any more because of the unpredictability of their service. ORIGINAL REVIEW: The food here is decent, however the poor service guarantees I'll not recommend this place. My first visit here was last week. When my wife and I arrived we were sat immediately. The place was empty except for the many employees who were talking amongst themselves and arranging several tables together for a large party. We waited a bit to see a server come to the table. We ordered our food and drinks and advised the server that we had a Groupon to redeem. The drinks came in short time but the food took longer. We ate our meal and waited and waited and waited for a server to come back. No one came by to check on us the whole time we ate. When another server finally came to us, he asked us how we were doing. We told him we were ready for our check, and showed him the Groupon. He said he'd be right back. While we waited another server came by to clear our plates and ask us if we needed anything else, any dessert. We explained we'd already asked for the check and she left with the plates. After at least 5-7 minutes a fourth person came by and dropped off the check, but the Groupon had not been applied. The staff, who'd been so busy rearranging furniture and place settings for the large party, were all out of sight. When we were able to get someone's attention, we again showed her the Groupon and she took to check away to have it adjusted. Ten minutes later we got the final check. We paid cash. We feared waiting for a credit card processing would waste more time. On the weekend we tried to order some takeout, as we had another Groupon to use. Though it says on the certificate that it is good for dine in or takeout, they said it was only good for dine in. Owner's rules. So we canceled the order. My wife and I went back again yesterday evening. The door was propped open and no air conditioning was on. It was sweltering. We made it through dinner. Again, no one checked on us after the food was dropped off. Again, it took longer than it should to get a check, but at least the server applied the Groupon the first time. I cannot recommend this place unless your time has no value to you. The staff have been inattentive and though they haven't been busy they seem to never be around when you need them. read more

What a lovely dinner location! There was live music, and the service was truly outstanding when it really counted. I enjoyed a heaping bowl of mariscos, complete with some big shrimp. They were a little overcooked, but for safety's sake it's better to be overcooked than overlooked (that's what grandma says).
