I can't say enough about this place, I used to go to the one up on broadway in Lincoln heights back in the day and it was always my favorite Mariscos restaurant. I came here as the other one has closed many moons ago and this place was awesome, great camarones al mojo de ajo, great service from all the staff of waiters and waitresses here, very fast and very friendly, the food was spectacular, great taste , fresh, one of a kind flavor and the portions are huge . I haven't been to a 7 Mares since I was a child, so I decided it was time to come back and try it... We were craving Mariscos and all of our favorite places were closed, since it was already 7pm... 7 Mares closes late so we decided to go here.. This location is in Boyle heights, it's not as big as other locations. We came during the week so it was not busy... I ordered the aguachiles, which were pretty good and definitely spicy for me... A few bites in I started to get teary eyed ( I can't handle spicy that well.) My boyfriend ordered the 7 Mares cocktail... it comes with assorted fish, honestly it's a bit to fish for my taste... We also got the prepared oyster shots.. They were good.. Overall we had great customer service, our waiter was very nice and attentive, she keep refilling our chips and salsa... Came here with my bf to try their 7 mares soup and bf got a coctel 7mares. Food tasted bad. It honestly had a "dirty rag" taste to it if you can try to put that to the imagination. Shrimp was definitely frozen bought, you can taste that it wasn't good quality seafood. Tap water was straight out of their sink, unfortunately the food was not it. Service was nice though, attentive and didn't take long to take our order. The ambiance is okay but they really need to fix their lighting fixtures, they flicker so bad. read more

I'm posting this for everybody's knowledge. Be careful using your credit card at this restaurant. It's been twice already most recently last weekend November 2 where I've used my credit card to pay for our meal . I take a picture of my receipt and leave a cash tip and a few days later there's an additional $10 added to my card after the fact and these are not extra fees, the receipt reflects the extra fees. This is an additional charge like someone was adding a tip. This is happens when the charge clears days later I've tried contacting the merchant for my credit card both times I was not allowed to speak to a manager. I have emailed the corporate office just to let them know of this going on with no contact so like I said, just be careful using your card .Take a picture receipt and make sure to check your credit card statement after the fact. luckily, both times my credit card company has refunded that different amount but I still don't think it's cool if you're already leaving a large tip and somebody decides to add extra money. read more

Tried this place for the first time it was highly recommended. Meat was great but honestly the rice wasn't for me. Beans good and guac. Would I come again? Probably yes but different plate. But one thing the waitress was amazing sadly forgot here name, but I had never seen someone so attentive and helpful than her and it was here so that's a plus. read more

3.5 only and am rounding up. The interior is cosy and jolly, calling to mind a cheery soccer bar with opulent booth seating. The food seems ho-hum. My lunch special the Shrimp Diablo was not short on quantity, so value for a $10 meal was good. At least 10 medium shrimp are served in a piquant tomato-based sauce in a hot dish, while Mexican rice and a selection of plain, steamed vegetables are served on the side. The vegetables pleased me, but they are nothing more than what I could rustle up from a frozen mix of cauliflower and broccoli florets tossed in the microwave! On the side, you are given a desultory looking iceberg lettuce salad which is served with standard store bought Italian dressing...so not impressive. The tomato sauce was heavy-handed. Halfway through I thought I would start getting heartburn--something I usually don't get. Towards the end I began to feel unwell. I actually couldn't move for a good period afterwards which kind of ruined my afternoon. The sauce was without balance just really hot, spicy, and acidic all together. On balance, I would give them another try for their cosy interior. Next time I'll stick to a standard breaded fried fish or something. As well, free chips and salsa (although unimpressive salsa) are a plus to go with your cerveza. They have popular mariscos and ceviche and oysters so if you are feeling brave ....It's a fun setting at least! read more

CHIPS AND SALSA FTW We like coming here because the food is always solid. Their chips and salsa is yummy. I think that's why I dine inside rather than outside in their fast food counter. I always call in my order for pick up and they are so fast! They usually take 10-15 minutes. The staff is great, they are all friendly. The salmon dinner plate is my go to, it's delicious and you can substitute your sides. The shrimp cocktail is another good one and their fajitas. Not a big fan of the chile relleno, but its passable. The oysters are really a hit or miss, but I did complain once because they looked really old and green and the manager replaced them with a better batch! I have been to this location quite a few times and I would find myself craving the ceviche and fish tacos. A friend of mine is a frequent visitor so the staff knows her and always warmly welcomes her. Many of the staff speak Spanish and always assume I speak it too but unfortunately I don't and they still understand me when I order in English. They give you chips and salsa as soon as you sit down and I can never help myself once they put it in front of me. If you order soda, you may not get refills as they bring it out to you in a can with a cup of ice. The shrimp ceviche comes with two tostadas and it was super fresh. The fish tacos are fried to perfection and the sauce they put on top adds another layer of flavor. I always want to come here whenever I am in East LA. Parking is a bit hard as there is a small lot in the back of the restaurant but I've always been able to find parking whenever I visit. read more

I took my girlfriend out to dinner here because it's close to my house wow was it disappointing. Ordered a carne Asada plate, camarones agua chiles and a lobster dinner al mojo de ajó. First of all the utensils were all beat to shit washed but fork looked as if it just got back from Afganistán. Agua Chile camarones were not divined completely disgusting. The lobster tail was overcooked and very chewy. I would recommend not coming to this restaurant, it is not what it use to be not even close. To add to the problem a couple that does not work there came out of the kitchen area laughing aloud towards all patrons clearly loaded! Stay clear of this place hit Linda's Mariscos instead and u will save money to boot!!! read more

You totally get so much more than what you pay for. It's no secret this place is really good & the waitresses are really sweet, but I just wrote this review to clear up or avoid confusion. This place is connected to the TAQUERIA, but this is the actual restaurant & the kitchen stays open till 10pm & the restaurant closes at 10:30pm.
