Food was unbelievable. The server Johanna was so nice and fast. Very attentive and respectful. Would definitely come back.

I come to this place every timer after my haircut. Been coming for years. The tacos are the best all the sea food is amazing. The people there already know what I want lol. It has outdoor and indoor seating and enough space.. Yumm!

Burnt onion rings and different colored shrimp which was served originally together, Calamari rings were good though.

Burned my food but still served it, Ordered La Botana Familiar without baby octopus. Onion rings were hard as a rock and clearly EXTRA EXTRA crispy to the point where i struggled to break them with my hands, along with the shrimp which were different colors. Talked to waiter to give me replacements and got two correctly cooked shrimp which will be included in the picture for reference. Pictures taken October 26 6:31PM

Service and food was good. Shrimp and scallop combo is 26.99 I believe and I got only 4 shrimps. Little bit steep for 4 shrimps. My husband got the lobster and asada, lobster little bit over cooked but it's okay he enjoyed it still. Lobster and asada about $50 tho.

This is what the previous people who ate here left. It explains it all..

NEVER going back!! After it changed ownership the portions are ridiculous!! Food doesn't taste the same and they even charge you for extra salsa and sour cream. They are loosing customers little by little. I've been coming here since I was little .. my family and I are very disappointed. Please look at my picture.. this is how sad the tacos are not. The tostadas are worse.

All shrimp burrito with veggies on the side Burrito de puro camarón con la verdura aparte

Been coming for years and today was the first time I was extremely disappointed. I asked for an all shrimp burrito and this is what I got, 8 shrimps total for this big tortilla burrito. We waited over 30 minutes to not even have a full meal.

I celebrated my birthday here yesterday and I couldn't have been happier. The best calamari I have ever had. The green sauce that goes with it, is perfection. I wish they bottled it! And I'm very picky when it comes to green sauces. I ordered a fish taco and a shrimp taco. The fish taco was great actually better than great! It wasn't greasy or too crispy. Sooo good. Shrimp taco was good too. We also ordered ceviche, just a warning. Its very large but also delicious.

I ended up ordering the 7 shrimp rice, beans, gravy combo, coke zero and I asked for a side of that delicious and somewhat familiar looking chili. They take the order on a tablet that takes all forms of payment tap card included. Dining room is small but clean, some out door seating, plenty of parking around the establishment. Aromatics from the shrimp were crazy on the way to lunch. I was ready to dig in already. The shrimp are as good as they look, if you like thick golden batter, it was hot fresh and crispy, I can see why some people wouldn't like the batter, might be overwhelming to some, a little greasy but I enjoyed it, the shrimp were a decent size and it was definitely a comfort style food. A good treat. The rice, beans and gravy are served together, so good, everything tasted fresh and was a great compliment to the shrimp. The very familiar side of chili will remind you of a famous chain that rhymes with Johnny's. Great chili. It was my favorite part of my order, mixed in with the rice beans and gravy and even on the shrimp, it was flavour town. Awesome classic Boyle Heights restaurant, very unique menu, I'm exited to explore more when I'm in the area. Try it out!

Maybe not fancy dining and dishes, but good enough that you'd get it again. I enjoyed the food, as it fit the cravings. The funny part is that I went back two days in a row. Originally I went to try one of my favorites, fish and chips, but had to get some shrimp to go with the name on the billboard. Even after driving it all the way back to the office, it was crispy enough that I enjoyed it. The fries were good too. Now the kicker is that I didn't know they sold Teriyaki plates. So I went back the next day to try a teriyaki beef and chicken plate. Now the sauce was good, as it is like much lunch plate flavor, and the beef and chicken was tender. The slices were thin though, and wished they were a bit larger. Overall, the service was friendly, but the dining area is small, so keep that in mind if you plan on dining it. Both times I went there were seats available though. Next time I want to try their chili fries. Enjoy!!!

We arrived at about 10am (opening time) and we were able to find a good spot in the private parking lot. There were at least 10 other people that must've had the same idea and show up early to beat the traffic. We opted for the grilled halibut and seabass dishes with garlic bread, rice, salad, and ceviche. Even though it was a little cool from the rainy weather, it was still nice enough to eat outside in an enclosed patio with electric heaters. They also have two restroom facilities for any bathroom needs. The main area where we ordered was also where we picked up our orders. We also had the option to call ahead and place orders for pick up/to go. Those were processed in the Seafood Market section (where they had different fresh fish and seafood options). The food was pretty good--opted for garlic butter sauce for the fish and it was the perfect complement to the halibut, but the sea bass was honestly so tender that it needed no sauce. The salad and dressing were as expected. Same with the rice. All of these portions were pretty big. The garlic bread was also pretty tasty and a juge portion, but the ceviche, although good, was a smaller portion than expected. It was fresh and quite flavorful and came with a side of chips. The food was delicious, environment was nice, and we came across others that made the trek out early to enjoy the food at this spot. Will definitely visit again in the future.

Fries were cold .but everything else was fresh but again, nothing stood out. The clam chowder was not salty enough. But it had so much clam pieces! The garlic bread was amazing. I love garlic and this alone was their saving grace. You can taste the fresh garlic and butter! Overall I wouldn't come back but I do see that there are A LOT of loyal patrons. So I would suggest to give them a try.

The difference between the two locations was night and day. Even though it was Mother's Day and busy everywhere, Boyle Heights was organized, fast, friendly, and fully stocked. There was plenty of parking, the line moved quickly, and the employees were courteous and professional from the moment we arrived. Most importantly! THEY HAD EVERYTHING. Fresh biscuits? Yes. Fully stocked menu? Yes. Good customer service? Absolutely. The biscuits were fresh, hot, buttery, and delicious, exactly how I remembered Pioneer Chicken growing up in Los Angeles. We honestly ate them on the drive home because they were THAT good. You could immediately feel the better energy and management at this location. People were constantly coming in and out, yet the staff still handled things efficiently and professionally. As someone born and raised in LA, Pioneer Chicken is nostalgic for me, and this Boyle Heights location felt much closer to the Pioneer I remember. I will definitely return to this location again. Thank you to the Boyle Heights staff for saving Mother's Day dinner. Sorry I didn't take a picture of the biscuits, the aroma took over, the box was opened and my mouth ate before my camera! ha ha ha

We were told to take our time, which was needed since everything sounded so good and the husband kept changing his mind on what to order. We finally settled on the Spicy Creole Jambalaya, Craw Mac Deluxe and The Crabster. It all came out hot, fresh and so satisfyingly delicious! The spice level was perfect. Portions were generous.
