Asked for time and materials to install a ceiling fixture and a duplex outlet. Agreed. Electrical connections fine, but ill-equipped to hang the fixture; had no helper. Thought it appropriate to charge just under $3000 to run a five foot wire from an existing duplex outlet to the new one and an eight foot wire to install the ceiling fixture. You read that right- $3000- The bill included $436 to replace a 9" piece of 1 1/2" PVC drainpipe he mistakenly cut in the process and $257 for four decora items and a Lutron switch for the fixture-readily available at Home Depot at total cost of $88. When the discrepancy pointed out, Tony stated "that's what I have to charge." Sorry, no, not at $165/hr. Committed to a return date to complete other work. Did not show. Caveat emptor: If you feel compelled to hire Tony-he talks a good game-get a firm estimate-Tony's time and materials cost was twice the written bid price of two other reputable sources-and get a firm appointment time; better yet, do yourself a favor-find a different electrician!

All I saw was that fixture on the floor and a hole in the ceiling. I called Mark Flowers, a self-employed local contractor, and he was able to come put it back up two days later. He brought everything necessary to do the job in under an hour, was a complete professional and charged a reasonable amount. As with all the "little guys" out there (who don't spend thousands on commercial advertising), trying to hustle up business with people on their payroll, it's been a challenge during the coronavirus pandemic to walk into people's homes and feel safe. Mark wore a mask and took all mandated precautions to respectfully maintain social distancing. I will happily recommend him to my friends and family. By supporting small business, everybody wins.
