We walked in Sunday close to 2pm and it was empty. We sat right in front of the owner Chris at the counter. The wines were fruity, but some tasted aged , tannic, and or bland. Nothing really stood out to us for us to purchase a bottle to waive the $10 tasting fee. But we got to taste 8 wines! Very generous of Chris. 1 restroom inside. Chris greeted us warmly into his tasting room with open arms! It's rare to experience such hospitality in wine towns nowadays, especially since the pandemic. The room was cozy and intimate, Chris poured each wine, giving us a unique opportunity to taste the love, patience, and incredible attention to detail that went into each bottle. I had previously given up on red wines because they often cause me pain the next day, but I was pleasantly surprised by a 2013 Syrah and a Pinot Noir, a grape I usually avoid. The Chardonnay was unoaked, but still very respectable and I could taste the pure chard grape flavor as if the grape was looking at me from the bottle saying "THIS is what I'm SUPPOSED to taste like honey, not the malolactic oak! If I were still an avid wine enthusiast, I would have joined their wine club. It's great that he had wine priced by the glass on his menu for those interested in focusing on one type of wine or simply wanting to relax with a glass without feeling pressured to taste a planned flight at only 1-ounce intervals. Their space is tucked away in a business park across from Boomers off of Airway. Very unassuming, but personal. So good that we joined another wine club. Chris, the owner, is really nice and cordial to all. There is a huge variety of wines coming out of this small winemaking space. There is outdoor seating during COVID and usually a food truck on Saturday. The hours are nice too in that they stay open late on Friday and Saturday. This was one of the most fun days I have had wine tasting in years. Chris the winemaker and his sister-in-law (I think she was...but if not, she was a hoot as well) showed us a great time and took us through most of their wines (did a flight of 5 Zins and some ports). There is a tasting fee of 10.00 but it's well worth it. If you spend 5$ tasting reserves and buy wine, you get the $5 back. Their tasting room is small but roomy enough to hold a dozen folks without being too crowded. They had some great fun things to take photos with (see my photos) including the "Lucille Ball Wine Barrel" photo area (great idea Chris!). After tasting for 20+ years in Sonoma, Napa, Paso Robles, Santa Barbara, Livermore and the Gold Country in the Sierra's, this was probably the most fun I have had in a tasting room (second to The Singing Winemaker right next door, which is reviewed as well) over any of the other places I have tasted (and that's probably well over 100 wineries). Other wineries should take note of how well they treat their clients and how fun they make the tasting. No snobby pourers here. Selling themselves as an "Urban" winery and coming into the market for commercial tasting rooms in 2008, they have definitely done it right. If you love Zin, they have a great selection and all were very distinct in their nose and finish. The 2013 Favolora Zin was my favorite as was the ETC and Cab Ports. The ETC is a Tawney port with a very nice blend of fortified brandy. Nice and rich, deep red in color with the hints of the brown brandy color make this a great port. The Cab Port is the sweeter of the ports and is incredibly smooth and sweet. This would be great with dark chocolate (like every port), Chocolate flourless cake, and even poured over an Angel Food Cake with fresh raspberries, strawberries and raspberries. Being a boutique winery, I favor these types of wineries over any of the large wineries in the valley. Supporting local winemakers is a big plus, and the fact Chris lives in my home town tells me he has really good taste ;-) 5 stars! read more

So, there's no pretty views like at other Livermore wineries. For $20, you can get a pass to taste at all 3. Pretty good deal. Except that Paulson was the only one who really had any decent wine. Ehrenberg had a good variety, but the wines just tasted very young. Very acidic and hard to drink. Since the staff was very nice, and they seem to be a relatively new winery, I'll give them 3 stars and hope they improve over the coming years... read more

The people are very nice here. The service is very good. The wine, not so much. It's not to my taste at all. I found the wines at some of the other places in this little area much more to my taste. The reds here were very acidic and some were very thin- watery even. And the zins, when compared to some of the outstanding zins made in Lodi, were just not very good. And something very odd is going on with the the aftertastes in some of these wines. I don't know what sort of additives they use here, but they must be using something in some of these wines, because they were strange. I don't know how the whites are. I did not try them. Maybe they are better. I won't go back to try them out. Too many other places on my list. read more

This winery has the best customer service and they ARE pet friendly. It's a very casual laid back environment. You can go in flip flops or fancy heels and you'll get the same level of customer service. It's a small cozy tasting room. $10.00 to taste and I believe we got $5 dollars off the bottles we bought. They do have a picnic area outside where you can sit and enjoy the wine you purchased. I've been here a couple times and both times I've had great customer service , enjoyed the wine and both times my dog loved his trip here. After reading the reviews for this winery I was really excited to try some delicious wine. I even had a 2 for 1 tasting card that we had picked up at another Bay Area event. The tasting fee is reasonable at $10 per person and it was reassuring to see how busy they were when we arrived. We chose an all red tasting since whites typically give me a headache. While I am sure there are plenty of people that enjoy the wine here I just wasn't feeling it. The wine tasted very watered down almost like juice while little to no tannins. I guess I am a little of a wine snob, I love big bold reds with large amounts of tannins. Maybe I was aiming high but this was one of my least favorite tastings I have tried. Everyone's pallet is different so by all means try this place out. The service was great which is why I rated it overall a 3 instead of a 2 star. read more

This was our 5th stop out of 6 on our wine tasting tour of Livermore. We stopped in to Ehrenberg before going back to the Singing Winemaker's, which is one of our favorite wineries in Livermore. This place is on the same lot as Tesla Vintners and another place. The three wineries offer a deal that you can get tastings at all three places for $12 (so basically, a $1 savings per place). We didn't feel like going to all three places though, so we just paid the $5 tasting fee at Ehrenberg. Our pourer was friendly (at first) and very talkative. He expounded about how they eschew blends, and how they choose grapes from different regions in which the climate is favorable for grapes to grow. We listened politely and sipped on our wine. Once we reached the end of the tasting though and it became clear that we weren't going to purchase any bottles, he seemed to sour on us. His annoyance at our insouciance to his charm reached a peak when he made a comment to the effect of, "Hey, wouldn't it be nice if you bought some wine?" That made things awkward. He was basically like a creepy guy from a bar saying, "Hey, I bought you a drink. Now give me your phone number." We weren't about to be swayed into buying wine buy a little bit of passive aggressiveness, so we just smiled and sidled out the door. This place seems to have lucked out with its proximity to Tesla Vintners. However, it is not even in the same league as Tesla. read more

I had a great time and this winery. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful to us non-seasoned wine-tasters. The lady even gave a mini wine tasting lesson to my brother who had never been wine tasting before. Also a very quaint little tasting room that almost reminded me of a little boutique you'd see somewhere at a beach town! The woman who did the pouring was very astute and seemed to have something for everyone's taste. For me, she recommended the Barbera, a spicy red blend that pairs well with pastas. It was pretty amazing. All in all, the staff and the service at this winery definitely put it above the rest out of the other two at the Tesla Vintners. Having that personal touch to the tasting really made it that much more enjoyable. I would definitely come back again to Ehrenberg specifically and maybe skip the others in this lot. Sweet plums, sweet blackberries, creamy texture, good acidity, some over ripe fruits like, zin like. 10 zin shanandoah over ripe flavors, coconut, raspberries, cassis, chamboard, creamy, smooth texture, low acidity but good, good grippy finish. I'm all about the Singing Winemaker, my friends and I had a blast tasting wine and enjoying some live music. We took a break outside on the lawn before heading to Ehrenberg Cellars. A couple of my friends walked over to the fence to smoke by the pole labeled 'smoking pole' and one of the employees from Ehrenberg Cellars yelled at them across the lawn that there's no smoking on the property at all. After they pointed at the 'smoking pole' sign, she yelled back that it doesn't matter. This could have been handled a lot better, and it definitely turned us off from wanting to go in for the tasting like we had planned. read more

We came here on a beautiful day and arrived optimistic, but ultimately was unimpressed with both the wine and the service. We only tried a few pours, since we had bought the Telsa Vintners Package, and picked the 2014 Chardonnay from here in Livermore, the 2011 Syrah from England Shaw in Solano County, and the 2012 Barbera by Michael David in Lodi. The Chardonnay was creamy and my favorite pour while there, but there was not anything that really stood out from it. The Syrah had lots of sediment and again was lackluster. Then we finished with the Barbera, which was a pour off their 'Premium List,' and it was fine. There aren't many Barberas to be found in Livermore Valley, so it was fun to try one here, but it didn't compare with many that I've had in the past. The service is why I am giving the bad review though. The lady who greeted us had a smile on her face, but it seemed pasted on and whenever she spoke she was very curt with us. Very disingenuous feeling, talking down to us and only perking up briefly when I mentioned I had found them on Yelp. In addition, when we asked to have a quick rinse following the Syrah (as it had a lot of sediment), she said the bottle was almost empty and refused. I also heard her do the same to the table behind us. The one positive thing I can say is that they were willing to serve us our tasting pours outside since we had brought our dogs. I appreciated them accommodating us, since I expected to have to walk back into the tasting room to get the next pours. read more

Had a great time here wine tasting over the weekend! I unfortunately never caught the name of the woman who served us, but both women in there at the time were super friendly, very knowledgeable about the wines we were tasting, and generally were delightful to be around! The tasting room was rather stuffy, but I can't fault them too much for that, as they're in the process of moving to a new (hopefully air conditioned!) location down the street. They were very casual about the tasting - we paid to taste 4 wines, but they definitely let us try more than 4. For $20, you get to try 4 wines at each of the 3 tasting rooms in the lot, so it's a hard deal to pass up on! read more

This winery is amazing!!!! We were looking for a winery that was open after 4:30 and found this place. A little skeptical at first. But Chris, the wine maker, was there along with two other workers.
