Our project required making multiple updates and repairs due to damage caused by our previous tenant. This included: - Interior painting throughout the unit - Updating the bathroom vanities, countertops, flooring, and shower fixtures - Updating the kitchen countertops with Quartz - Installing all new blinds throughout - 20+ small repairs ranging from repairing closet doors, window locks, window screens, etc. Posted the project on Yelp and due to Eddie's persistence and follow-up, decided to consider EHR as one of two possible contractors for the entire project. Eddie's pricing was extremely reasonable so I decided to move forward with EHR for the project. For the tasks that were not in his wheelhouse (e.g. cutting/replacing kitchen countertops), Eddie had fantastic service partners who were reliable and high quality. For tasks where I sourced the material from another vendor, Eddie was exceedingly patient with dealing with shortcomings of those vendors and to fill in quality/functional gaps. For example, I purchased my bathroom vanities and countertops from a small cabinet shop. The cabinet did not fit well with our existing plumbing and the quality of their countertops wasn't good. While this required more time and effort on Eddie's part, he came up with creative solutions to get the cabinets to work in our unit and to get the countertops to fit. We had numerous issues trying to retrofit new shower fixtures into our 20+ year old condo, where (not surprisingly) we ran into compatibility issues. Eddie did not give up and went to the store to try figure out ways to get the parts to work. When some of our cleaners damaged some of the places, his team had painted, Eddie went back in and repaired/repainted without complaint. These are just examples of why we are very satisfied with Eddie's services. We had 3 closets installed by Eddie and he did a great job. One is a walkin closet for which Eddie had to demo existing closets, replace carpet with vynyl flooring, Install our custom designed ikea pax closet system and then do moulding and trim to hide any gaps. Eddie and his team get high marks for their work. They did laminate flooring and painting at my house. Eddie was efficient in communication and had creative ideas to solve some challenges we faced along the way. I liked that I could purchase the materials and Eddie provided his time and talents. It helped that Eddie has experience with other house projects (drywall, painting and other remodeling) coz my project needed to consider how other jobs fit in. For example, we were building closets too so one of Eddie's recommendations was to wait till closets done to finish the base boards instead of cutting the baseboards to fit in closets. I am so pleased with how the barn door came together. Eddie is so patient with the work and he takes the time to get the details correct. He is super creative to get over all the technical challenges occurs during the installation. The door finished beautifully, exactly what I expected. I can't imagine how difficult it is to get a barn door with un-standard size opening spaces. I have been trying to find a carpenter who's willing to make and install the barn door since August. For 2 entire months I went through a number of contractors they either redirect me to a different door style or over priced. Lesson learned: 1) Paying a contractor upfront can be a bad idea. 2) Request itemized quote before hiring a contractor. 3 things are very clear: 1) we already paid $10730.84 fully for unfinished works. We already paid 100%, Mr. Eddie didn't deliver 100% 2) Just happened recently, Mr. Eddie sent me the invoices for asking for $8200 without proving me any quote/estimate in advance. Even several weeks a ago, I asked him about the trim painting cost. He simply said he needed to see it-- all doors and trims were installed by Eddie. How come he didn't see those items?! I hired EHR for interior paint and a big carpentry project (board & batten wood molding on very large and tall interior walls). He was on time or early for our initial consultations and even took the time to meet us at the molding store to explain our different material options, help us place orders etc. We had never done a project like this so him doing this for us helped a lot. Eddie explains everything in a lot of detail so we quickly realized he knows what hes talking about. Once the work got started, the same process continued. Eddie worked everyday and would explain options and confirm our choices with us each day. There were some challenges with our project--the biggest of which was the height of our ceilings. Eddie built his own scaffolding in order to get the job done. I had Eddie and his EHR crew install almost 500 feet of crown moulding in our home. The total time it took him was about 10 business days. I was overly satisfied with the work that he performed that I promised him a yelp review, which I normally do not do unless I am extremely satisfied or deeply saddened by a business. And of course, in this case, I am very pleased with the work. There are several great things about his crown molding work that I will point out. First and foremost, the crown molding work is EXCELLENT. If you notice the workmanship of the trim, it is smooth and it shines. Everything about the ceiling trim was done correctly with a high level of detail. The radius corners fit perfectly. There are no gaps between the walls and adjacent pieces. He was able to make it all look like one piece. All the caulking and nail holes are properly caulked, sealed and sanded. Eddie was also able to a minor adjustment of moving our ceiling airvent so that it would not interfere with the crown molding. Otherwise, he would have had to cut into the crown molding, which would not have looked clean. The kicker of the project though was the excellent job he did on the hallway door trim. (Please see attached pictures). I gave him a picture of what I wanted for the trim and he was able to replicate it exactly, again with a high level of detail. He was able to design, cut and assemble the door trim to exact measurements. He was also able to blend it correctly with our wood flooring and baseboards. I am extremely pleased with the workmanship involved in the door trim. I have received so complements since it highlights our hallway so well. The only issue i have are not necessarily his fault, but more of an issue with the situation. In order to receive excellent results for the crown molding, he used a sprayer so that he could achieve even results. Due to the white paint over-spray, we had to repaint a portion of the wall but this required us (the homeowner) to have an exact paint match of our walls. Sadly after driving ALL around San Jose, going to multiple places, we were unable to correctly match the paint.....thus, we had to repaint all the walls. Eddie was apologetic about the situation, but we all realized there was nothing we could do at that point. He even offered me extremely discounted pricing to repaint all the walls to make it right. Anyway in retrospect, at least we now have a matching paint for the all the walls and rooms, for when, not if, we use him again. So final thoughts? Would I hire him again? YES! Without hesitation. His belief in providing honest, affordable workmanship is unparalleled. Eddie's Can-Do attitude is definitely refreshing. I literally called over 7-8 contractors, and they were WAY overpriced or too snobby to do "small" jobs. EHR was able to meet my needs without any attitudes and was open and honest about the progress of the project.
